  1. Great trip report on the last page! These pics really got me itching to get in on the action. Just debating whether or not it's worth it to go the last weekend in October and fight the insane crowds. Where did they host the magic show you posted photos of?
  2. Hm maybe Ill check that out next year. Yes Do! It's been 5 years since I have been, but the water park has some insane "slides" on a mountain. Some feel like that they probably shouldn't exist cause it looks like tarp laid down the side of a mountain. It's not a traditional commercial park like HH, they have tarzan swings, cliff jumps, and some other unique stuff. It's my favorite water park I have been to. They actually removed the Tarzan Swings this season for that vertical drop, vertical loop waterslide they're putting in. Fair trade off I guess. Damn - I loved the Tarzan Swings. I had thought they were abandoning the vertical loop slide. Where did you hear this?
  3. Thanks for the feedback on crowds the 10/29 weekend. I actually went a couple years ago the weekend before and it was super jammed, so was expecting likely the same for that weekend. Does the Dorney Park Halloween attraction / theming compare to SFGAdv as an alternative or not nearly as good?
  4. Considering a trip to the park the weekend of 10/29-10/30. Is the park still ridiculously crowded the closest weekend to Halloween or has Fright Fest died down at that point? Platinum Flash Pass or bust?
  5. El Toro and Nitro at night are great. Haven't done it at night but imagine Bizarro would be somewhat cool with the flames going up (if they're still doing that - weren't working when I went last week).
  6. On taking the bus in from NYC, I say to give it a go (personally have never done). Daily parking costs $25 at a minimum, so you can count that towards whatever bus fare you're paying.
  7. Park was pretty slow given the hot Monday today. Generally 10-15 min waits on everything. Some thoughts below on my first trip to the park in 2 years. Ride counts - 5x Nitro, 2x Kinga Ka, 2x El Toro, and once each for Zumanjaro, Joker, Skull Mountain, Bizzaro, Superman, Batman, and Congo River Rapids. Some thoughts: - Still holding out hope that Great Adventure re-opens the pathway from Kinga Ka area to El Toro. It used to be super convenient when they had it. Why did they block it off? Very inefficient (15 mins wasted) to go out to the Boardwalk and loop around. - Shame that they lost the sound and effects on Bizzaro. Thought that was a nice addition. - All the park employees (ride ops, concessions, etc.) were super helpful and friendly. - Love how they're still going strong with the Mortal Kombat music on Nitro. - No Kingda Ka rollbacks today but I've always got my fingers crossed. - Great how the park gives out free cups of water. Was super helpful on a 100 degree day like today. - Lots of credit to the ride op on Congo River Rapids for trying to keep the line short. I got SOAKED! - I miss the foot massage machine they used to have near Bizzaro / the stadium. Such a lifesaver. http://www.bhmvending.com/barrell_of_fun.jpg - More single rider lines would be amazing. Lots of trains going with empty seats today.
  8. Planning a trip for Monday, August 15. How have crowds been this year? How do Mondays in August usually look for crowds? Trying to determine if Flash Pass will be worth it. At a minimum would like to do Joker, El Toro, Kinga Ka, Zumanjaro, Nitro, and El Diabo. Would be good to get on Superman: UF and Bizarro as well. Would also be great to ride The Chiller and Movietown Water Effect but I'm not holding my breath.
  9. Awesome trip report! I actually wasn't familiar with some of these parks. Thanks for sharing!
  10. Coming up on a year since my first trip to Holiday World and Splashin Safari - man how I loved this park and would love to return one day. What a nice break this part of the country is too from the city hustle & bustle.
  11. Seems like it was canned (along with the "longest waterslide" they were promoting at the end of last season). They actually quietly dropped the "Action Park" name again this year and are now Mountain Creek again.
  12. What's the latest ETA on Avatar Land? I still see 2017 on the Wikipedia page. Assuming if I go in January or March it won't be open yet?
  13. - Single rider lines - Friendly and helpful staff around the park - Variety in food choices - Vibe / lighting at night time - General theming - Any thoughtful addition that makes the experience more convenient (e.g. app with ride wait times and current open/closed status, moving season pass processing to an online experience) - Discounts that aren't buy one and get x% off. Let me just have 15% off my one soda.
  14. How do the ride lines at Universal Orlando and IOA get during Halloween Horror Nights? I'm sure the event attracts more people to the park, but does that mostly affect lines for the haunted attractions?
  15. Good stuff so far! How can you not love Cedar Point?! Have you ridden Skyhawk yet? Probably my favorite flat.
  16. Great report! I somehow convinced my girlfriend last year to trek to Indiana with me and go to this park - loved it. Nice change of pace around there from city life. Glad you went on the good water rides.
  17. Haha. Thanks for the feedback, all! Sounds like Fast Lane Plus it is if the July trip works out. Will also take into account your suggestions (yes - I like water rides though).
  18. Pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but if I'm trying to visit on a Saturday or Sunday in July mid July, can I be pretty sure for a packed park and long lines? Would I need a Fast Lane Plus for the "must rides" below? I see the weekend I'm looking at is "Kids Fest" - not sure if that makes a difference. My must rides based on a quick glance of the website: - Fury 325 (preferably 2x) - Intimidator - Nighthawk - Hurler - WhitewaterFalls Less concerned about (but could be interested in riding time permitting): - Afterburn - Carolina Cobra - Vortex - Carolina Cyclone - Plants vs. Zombies - Rip Roarin Rapids
  19. In addition to my HW comment about the water coasters, been to CP twice and both times did two days with no skip the line passes. Didn't have an issue getting on everything I wanted to ride. Skyhawk is a beast and one of my favorite flats, so don't skip that. Also loved their elephant ears. It's been 5 years or so since my last visit. Man I need to go back. Your trip sounds awesome. I'm jealous.
  20. I went to HW last year. Great park and absolutely LOVED the waterpark. Would definitely recommend the water coasters (although the lines can get quite long).
  21. Why is the single rider line so far through the queue like on Green Lantern? Am I missing something or has SFGA gotten this wrong twice? I'm not as seasoned as many of you on the number of parks I've visited, but never seen it done like this elsewhere.
  22. Really enjoyed this trip report and pictures! Thanks for sharing and glad you had a nice day.
  23. Not sure if considered a "flume" but I LOVED Perilous Plunge at Knott's Berry Farm. Why did this one close? Remember being soaked and great drop.
