  1. I NEED to get back to Action Park. Kind of wish I was there in the heyday. Are there any other waterpark a with cliff jumps (love the one at Action)? Great TR a few posts back.
  2. Excited to go to the park this Wednesday!!! Hoping for sunny weather and tame crowds. If I get there at opening, I shouldn't have issues getting on all the main rides by close I assume (maybe even earlier so can check out some more StL - going to Bogart's BBQ, AB factory tour, and arch the next day).
  3. So excited to go to HW for the first time this Friday! Assuming my GF and I get to the park at opening, would it be feasible to ride all the roller coasters, ride a few more rides, eat lunch dinner, and go to the waterpark in the same day? Also, which shows are worth seeing? Thought I remember hearing about high dive or something but didn't see on website this morning. Easy to get from HW to SS? Current plan: Breakfast at hotel HW at opening for roller coasters SS mid afternoon HW when SS closes for a few more rides and fireworks
  4. Like the report so far! Looking forward to seeing more.
  5. Agreed on how useless the single rider line is on Zumanjaro. The rule I made for myself last year was that it needed to be at least 1/5 of the normal queue to be worth it.
  6. Called SFStl today and they mentioned discount on Coke cans of $8 per ticket. Anything better other than a potential Club TPR discount (don't visit enough parks annually to be worthwhile for me, although appears to be a great program). Going less than 2 weeks!
  7. Excluding the Club TPR discount (unfortunately don't visit enough parks to make this worthwhile), any other good deals for Holiday World besides online tickets? Recognize already getting a pretty good deal already with free parking and soda.
  8. Aside from the $5 off each ticket from purchasing online, any other better deals for HW tickets? Staying at Santa's Lodge - would they have anything? How about local fast food spots?
  9. Planning to be at the park on Wednesday, 7/23. Do you think I'll have issues getting on everything I want to ride assuming no flash pass and there for ~9 hours? Based on looking at the website, am thinking: Definitely Want to Ride/do: Boomerang Boss Eat twice for ~15 mins Justice League: Battle for Metropolis Mr. Freeze (Reverse Blast) Ninja Screamin' Eagle Superman Tower of Power Tidal Wave Xcalibur Probably Want to Ride: American Thunder Batman the Ride (we have one at Great Adventure) Colossus Highland Fling Log Flume River King Mine Train Rush Street Flyer Skyscreamer (have one at Great Adventure) The Joker
  10. Kind of old news now, but the vertical looping waterslide is returning: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/n-s-action-park-return-vertically-looping-waterslide-article-1.2143369
  11. If it's on your way in Connecticut and you have time, might want to stop in a Stew Leonard's. It's a grocery store rather than a restaurant, but have heard great things about their theming and stores in general.
  12. Recommended "best" hotel to stay at within 15-20 minutes of Holiday World? Don't mind spending some more money and recognize not going to find any Hilton or Marriott. Right now am fairly torn between Santa's Lodge and Baymont Inn & Suites in Dale for July trip? Care most about comfortable beds and good breakfast.
  13. Going up to SFNE is to and from Philly is a solid 4 hours and out of the way from the PA/NJ parks. That's a reasonable amount of driving for just spending 1 day up there in my opinion. My suggestion for your trip would be: 7/19 - Hershey 7/20 - Knoebels / Dorney 7/21 - Great Adventure Great Adventure is a large park and a good amount of coasters. Assuming you plan to spend full day there on a Tuesday you should be alright though (would assess when you get in and do Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka first thing to save time - they're right next to each other).
  14. Thanks for the continued suggestions!
  15. Fantastic pics! Going to Holiday World this summer and so excited.
  16. St. Louis style pizza. For a quick try, you can find Imo's Pizza all over STL. Also Schlaffly tap works or bottle works has great food and beer. Bottle works gives a small tour of the brewery, but tap works is closer to down town and is a more enjoyable experience in my opinion. The city is pretty safe, but you can get into bad areas quickly. Lock your freaking doors and don't talk to anyone. You'll be able to tell when the area is bad. You don't have anything to worry about in the park area, though. Eurika is pretty decent. Thanks!
  17. It's usually more crowded (sometimes significantly) on Fright Fest, especially on a Saturday in October (when the pictures I posted were from). Think the fact that NJ/NY/PA high schools are still in session may be helpful for crowds as well. Think you might be able to swing 4 roller coasters or so in a six-hour span if you factor in walking and whatnot. Curious as to others' opinions.
  18. Yeah - I was there for about 9 hours that day and only got on 3 rides. Waited 20 minutes in line at the Johnny Rockets near Nitro for chicken tenders. Was cool to visit in the sense of how alive the park was, but miserable from a ride perspective. Pretty sure the park was at capacity.
  19. Sounds like I need to make a PA trip soon for Hershey (and hit up Knoebels again along the way).
  20. Fair enough. Admittedly I've never been to Hershey (someday soon hopefully).
  21. Doesn't Hershey have a longer season with all their spring, fall, and winter seasonal events? And I think they open daily sooner than SFGAdv does, too. Perhaps that's part of it. SFGadv is doing holiday in the park this year, which might help it (believe Hershey did that last year). Still though, SFGadv has benefit of being pretty easily accessible from both NYC area and Philly, while Hershey is a bit of a stretch for NYC folks and more rural land in general surrounding it.
  22. Never been to KI for Delirium, but been on maXair at Cedar Point which was great and looks similar from pictures. My favorite though is probably SkyHawk at Cedar Point. Fantastic.
  23. Hershey higher attendance than Great Adventure is pretty surprising to me.
