  1. Hey everyone, I will be making multiple visits to the park next week and I just have 3 questions: -Where is the best place to purchase cinnamon bread/how much should I expect to pay per serving? -Chance of Thunder next week, I noticed that the cave tour is affected by lightning in the area. How does this work? If they think it could happen, do they cancel the tours? If there's a group down there, do they cut the tour short up an emergency exit? How is the situation handled? -One of the visits will be on this Sunday--which has a 10 pm close. I know Outlaw Run will have amazing night rides, but what else has a great night ride? The park should be dark enough for them, right?
  2. Saw John Wick 3 on Saturday. While as a whole it was the weakest of the three, the action did not disappoint. Some of the kills really got the audience to wince and gasp. And they tried to interject it with a style of humor that wasn't in the franchise thus far and so it felt out of place. Also, now I need to go back to the first two to see how many groin hits there were, because a large chunk of the combat was aimed below the belt and I don't remember much of that previously.
  3. Journies 3, 4, and 5: Off the Beaten Path AKA What is This Trip Report Anymore? I wanted to post these reports, but since I'm lazy (and I only have a couple pics from two of the places), I've decided to combine them into one report. So sue me. Journey 3: The Super Journey Home I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tampa ( ), but since I live in Minnesota, I had to lug all my sh!t back north over a 2-day road trip. I happened to notice that Holiday World was approximately halfway between the two. But we'd be traveling through when the park was closed. So the consolation prize was a night in Metropolis, Illinois: the official home of Superman. We pulled in for the night, got as much sleep as we could, and in the morning, on our way out of town, we had to find town square. And what's in town square? A Giant Superman stature, of course! Strike a pose! And of course, we had to find Lois Lane as well. I enjoy a good pun street. But we didn't have time to go through the Superman museum. Though I did get a Superman hat from the gift shop and considered purchasing a piece of "Kryptonite." Journey 4: Just how far down the rabbit hole have we gone here, anyways? I was debating even posting these, but they're so weird and wtf-ish that they have to be shared. They're just mannequins at a Dollar Store. The employees I talked to had no idea why they exist either. But whatever, they're weird and I like 'em! What The Donkey? Journey 5: Holy Willy Wonka, Batman! Of all the tourist traps I've visited over the course of my life, I never thought I'd make a trip report about a candy store. Neither did I think I'd make one about a dollar store either, but you know what they say about life and lemons... The candy store in question is Minnesota's Largest Candy Store. That's literally its name. It would be awkward if there was one larger. Anyways, I knew about this place from various news outlets and was following them on Facebook but had never visited before. While living in work housing near Valleyfair last year, it was a perfect opportunity to waste an hour at the place on my day off since it's a couple miles past the park on 169. I drove in with the plan to look around, buy a giant-ass peanut butter cup and walk out. But as any John Steinbeck or Robert Burns fan will tell you, it was a poor plan from the start. It started out innocently enough: walking past a window with a cheap-looking statue of Iron Man against the inside of the window. I shrugged it off and walked in to see enough candy to make Gene Wilder blush. And a Dragon head ...as an appetizer. For what was that I saw in the distance? 99% of their social media postings are puns on their sign outside. So why is the Silver Surfer hanging from the ceiling? Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon about this; I'm just pissed that they never showed this stuff off before. I'd have gone more often, dammit! Cause who doesn't want a life-size Hulkbuster in their living room? Dibs. Apparently Thor and Spider-Man have joined the Justice League. Who knew? Not Captain America. And no, unfortunately I did not get a shot of America's A$$ Any kisses lately, spidey? And what's a life-size Hulkbuster without a Hulk to fight it? Monsters Inc. too? Sign me up! Have I mentioned how much I hated my old phone's camera is this report yet? Or should I say "I am Groot?" At least I think that's Groot and Star-Lord. Can't tell with how crappy that picture turned out. Resistance is futile. TIE fighters, coming in. To attack the Black Pearl. Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate's life for me. The Millennium Falcon will come to the rescue! If the Enterprise doesn't get there first! Or the Doctor! And in case you thought I forgot which site this was and since I know how amusement park-hungry you are, Here's a popcorn Ferris Wheel for ya to end this weird detour
  4. Double post, but I had to post this burger to celebrate the start of summer by breaking out the grille and doing something stupid. I present to you: the s'more burger. AKA the: "are you pregnant?" Burger. Topped with chocolate and fire-roasted marshmallows.
  5. Tardar Sauce; the cat behind the "Grumpy Cat" memes has died at age 7.
  6. I pre-melted about 60% of a bag of cheese and then piled it on the burger. This thing was so very greasy and I wish I had gotten a picture of the cheese stretch from my first bite.
  7. The remote was ticking, so there was only one logical thing to do:
  8. Now ACErs can have a body like Thor's!
  9. Even though I think that that plot will be empty for the 2020 season, I still wonder why it's being announced this early. Note to self: look up when other Cedar Fair parks announced the closings of their Dinos Alive. Also, CF recently trademarked the name "Polaris," the North Star. Kinda makes one wonder...
  10. I saw Endgame for the 2nd time today and all I can say is: Also, the girl sitting in front of me was on her phone texting on and off during the first hour or so of the movie. So when I finally asked her to turn it off, she looked at me like I was ruining her movie-going experience. But she didn't take it out again.
  11. Tabs and title transfer: $78 It's mine. My own. My precious.
  12. ^Weird Al's Amish Paradise would have worked just as well for how bizarre it was. And now, they're changing Sonic's design after the backlash the trailer obviously received. I also don't know what Jim Carrey's doing in the trailer, but I love it.
  13. And on the May the 4th weekend, too.
  14. Rumor I heard was Valleyfair got the part(s) to get theirs working again from Dorney. So, they gave their sh*t to Valleyfair.
  15. From what I heard, Valleyfair received parts for the holding brake from Dorney.
  16. The new Yukon Striker bin system at work
  17. It may not be the most recent, but it does have some sentimental value to me. In 2014, I flew out to NYC with no checked bags and purchased a jar of this from the Hershey store in Times Square. So when it was time to fly home, I was informed that I couldn't transport it in my carry-ons. I had some time yet before my flight so I went back out through TSA to a food court, grabbed a spoon and ate about half before reluctantly tossing it in the garbage. It's rare that I've seen them since, and I always remember that moment.
  18. So about a week ago, I saw a community theatre production of The Little Mermaid that my sister was in (the mersibling Andrina) and I just have to give a shout-out to whoever came up with the idea for the Poor Unfortunate Souls set. They stretched a sheet of fabric across the stage and had ensemble members press their faces and hands into the sheet in an effect similar to the one below from A Nightmare on Elm Street. Poor Unfortunate Souls The show's Ursula was also played excellently by a Drag Queen, which was a nice nod to the character's original Disney design. Me and Ursula, played by Brandon R. Caviness I also had much of the cast sign my playbill with a Little Mermaid pen in the shape of a trident (purchased from a different production), while making a "yours is bigger than mine" joke with Triton.
  19. So it's that time of year where I'm not sure if it's allergies, or a cold. Either way, someone is using leg day to kick my ass.
  20. I honestly think this the best way to do it. It allows me to keep my phone in line but also ensures that my phone is safe and that I don't get nailed in the face with somebody else's phone. It'll be interesting to see if the pouch+metal detector combo is implemented on Steel Vengeance as well. Forgive me for asking the stupid/obvious question, but what stops some idiot -hole from removing said phone from the pouch during the ride, immediately dropping it into someone's face, and causing the park to have all riders shove everything they own into a locker again?
