  1. Since Romon World doesn't have its own topic, I'll be posting some interesting pics here. What's about a brand new Intamin in a giant mall, with a lift AND a top-hat? (Source : HZGarfield on NLE) This is a mirrored version of Kanonen, except for the lift. I do hope to see lap-bars on it!
  2. It's the way the lift works: (Picture by rcrider4)
  3. Thanks, and don't worry, this is still WIP. I have yet to think about a structure for that part.
  4. Alright, the video from Kaloha is on hold at the moment (I've to wait for someone), so instead here's another concept I came with. This new ride uses the hammer launch technology, that I have already used on an old track of mine called Pastel. I have to be fair on that one : As much as the Arm-Lift was my own idea (yet influenced by Gravity Max), this concept is heavily (and shamelessly ) pumped on from Ride Tek, a strange coaster company (they built Cobra at Tivoli Friheden). But unlike Pastel, this one is a flying coaster (think Stingray), making things even more awesome! Because you're thrown up in the sky, then you experience a zero-g feeling, before plunging right to the ground.
  5. That ride features the best dark-ride vehicule design ever: Check this video for a glimpse inside the ride: Click
  6. That's so awesome, and I loved the back story too. It's the second handbuild ghost-train I see (the first one was this amazing one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rv_KBCARQQ#t=338), will it becomes a new trend?
  7. That happened right before the unload. The boat was stopped for a few seconds (probably under the skull head), the boy stood up but then the boat restarted, putting him in imbalance. He fell in the water and get stuck between the conveyor the next boat. The dad and the cast members pulled him out, but he has several serious injuries.
  8. I won't call it a corkscrew, more like a non-heartlined zero-g roll. I'm excited to see the new trains for The Bat!
  9. They still targeting December/January, according to their Facebook page. And they posted a new interesting pic : As we could have guessed, the lift will cross over the drop. But look at the left, an inversion is likely to be put here.
  10. Wow creepy. It seems the second Vortex ride is a Booster from Fabbri (Source). It reminds me of an accident that happened on a similar Booster in 2007 at La Fête des Loges (France), where a gondola literally flew off during a ride. I learnt some years after that some of the people who died were one of my classmate's cousins.
  11. http://rcdb.com/1193.htm "The Great Fluffy Sky Adventure originally opened as a flying roller coaster named "Birdmen". The coaster was shutdown after an accident in May 2001. During the shutdown, the ride's theme was changed and the car configuration was changed to that of an inverted roller coaster."
  12. So, with another source (RTL.be), we learn that it's not a mechanical failure of the restraints. The ride stopped, passengers where getting out when the ride restarted for an unknown reason. EDIT: Just realised I've been on that particular ride a few years ago. I liked it, smooth and I felt safe. It was in France for sixteen years (1997), and in the US for less than a year...
  13. Actually, all of the RCT3 rides are based on either real attractions or real concepts. Look, it's a real reverser!
  14. This is getting very interesting! And as someone pointed out over CoastersWorld.fr, there will be another portion of track next to it! A drop, an inversion..?
  15. Haha, that's priceless! And yet, Golden Horse is the "best" of all the chinese companies. There's worst... But sometimes I like chinese knock-off, because they can make you laugh out of WTF. Exemple with this looping+corkscrews knock-off. Looks pretty normal, uh? Wait for it. It's an air-compressed launch coaster!! More pictures. (By the way, is there any "weird/odd coaster" thread out here?)
  16. And in GTA V. I know it's based on Santa Monica West Coaster and it's quite well modeled, but the physic is just full retard. Back on topic I disagree saying Vekoma is the worst company. Even when their coasters were rough and shaky as hell (Until a few years so. Now they're decent), they had awesome ideas. A Boomerang is amazing! Think about it: you go upside down 6 times, forward, backward... and everything in a compact triangle shape. Beside the trackwork which is awful, on the paper it's a very cool ride, and a good looking one. Not to mention the Flying coaster, the Motorbike, the Tilt coaster, mine trains, etc. Now that they can make them smooth, I wish the best for them.
  17. Lotte World's lastest dark-ride looks fantastic: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  18. Thank you guys, I really appreciate the feedbacks! A video in on its way, don't worry.
  19. They use other programs for visualizations purposes, such as AutoCAD, but most of the calculus (=design or engineering, whatever you call it) is done with Excel.
  20. ^^ Of course they knew the wheels were going to lift up like that (though we're speaking of Intamin right now! ). They do tons and tons of computer calculus, so they precisely know what are the g forces in every portion of the ride. By the way, do you know what is the main software used to design coasters? Excel!! I learned it from Chad Miller, a lead designer at The Gravity Group. I was so surprised! But that proves it's a very powerful and versatile software.
  21. Yes. In a more serious note (El Toro is quite an extreme case! ), it really depends of the ride. There are different kind of hill (bunny hop, camel back, top-hat...) and different kind of airtime (floater, ejector...). The speed is also an important factor, as well as the length of the train. A long train will gives you different airtime if you're in front row or in back row, etc etc.
  22. Titan isn't your usual passive rollercoaster. Thanks to the Interactive Bracelet(1), it becomes an interactive experience. The ride puts you in the shoes of a surfer, and tests your ability to brave the wave, by riding it hands up! A camera is located in front of each two riders. It shoots the entire ride. Once the ride is over, the videos are sent to a computer which analyzes each frame, and with a position-recognition software, determines if the rider had his hands up or not. A score from 0 to 100% is attributed to riders, whom can save it as well as their video, by checking a terminal. Bonuses such as waving while hanging 90° can be found. But shhhhh. (1) Each visitor disposes of a watch-like plastic band, with a RFID chip strapped inside, turning the whole theme park into a giant interactive experience. Each chip is linked to a profile, where the data can be seen online by the visitor, via an app or a webpage (password protected). A flash code is printed and acts as a short link. The goal of this device is to give the opportunity for the visitor to be part of the action, and become a player. The bracelet interacts with terminals, located all around the park. Each time a bracelet is connected to a terminal, a trophy is added to the visitor's profile. For instance, the visitor discovers a hidden fountain. A terminal is on its side; he checks and receives a trophy: [ (+1) "I found the elves' magical fountain" ] Terminals are also located at ride exits, allowing the visitor to share his experiences. There's more to it, as seen with Kaloha (saving and sharing score and video). (Side note : The Interactive Bracelet reminds you of the Disney's MagicBand doesn't it? Yeah, but I've imagined it before knowing such a similar thing was in preparation! ...)
  23. Can't wait to see some footages of Nitro! Oh and by the way, here's some infos about Deep Space I took at the EAS:
