  1. As for the water slide vs. not water slide debat, I -for myself- have two conditions: - Does it has wheels? If yes, it's a water ride, if not, a water slide. - In case of a vehicle (mattress, tube, etc) is it designed for you to be able to fall on the tube during the course? If yes, water slide, if not water ride. Ex. A flume has wheels and if you fall off the boat you're screwed. -> Water ride. A river rapid (esp. Zamperla Hydro Lift, those look like a water slide more) doesn't have wheels, but once again, you better not fall from the embarcation. Same goes for Van Egdom ride such as the Oxygenarium. -> Water rides. Proslide rides with LSM uphills (or any equivalents). No wheels, you can fell off safely -> Water slide. As for our vertical slide, as you are strapped in a vehicle with an harness, I'd say it's not a true water slide, but more of a water ride. But honestly, does it matter? I'll call it a water ride and not a true water slide, but I'll enjoy it nonetheless. Though the line is blurred here if this ride is going to be build in waterparks. Peeps in swimsuits help me to call a thing water slide. And think about it. A guy had a dream, he built it, rode it and now he is selling it for anyone to enjoy! Isn't that awesome?! Let's take a moment to appreciate what we have here, that's a beautiful story in my opinion.
  2. Thanks for the reply. Is this possible with the capsule to have a launch? I mean, as a thrill element in itself, not only for dispatch. Either with a conveyor, LSMs or a powerful water jet (why not making the capsule hermetic at the end and having a air compressed launch! ).
  3. True, CoT is really cool! So far it's the only Sally dark-ride I rode. But I was mainly refering to motion-based trackless rides, such as Ratatouille or Antartica. It's maybe too soon to know about this, yet it's something that will really matter to the quality of the ride, at least in my eyes. Will the ride uses a moving point-of-view effect on its 3D sequences? I believe Universal call that or whatever the man is saying in the video (never got the word right).
  4. ... and welcome to Jackass. I heard you had that idea from a nightmare, and yup, it does make sense. Do you plan having a trap-door capsule at the top or you'll keep the curve like on the prototype? Having a transparent tube on the vertical drop would be also a sick idea.
  5. Oh yeah sorry, I forgot to mention, ''IDeA Entertainment'' is just me and nothing else.
  6. Who doesn't like Go-Kart? Who doesn't like racing games, such as Crash Team Racing or Mario Kart?.. So let me introduce you Kart 2.0, bringing the fun of those games in real life! (Check out IDeA Entertainment© on Facebook!)
  7. Thanks pkgdel5 and HWFan (on the IAAPA thread) for your replies about the vehicule being not trackless. And actually this is a good news for me. Because a trackless ride require a large, flat, black space on the ground for the vehicule to evolve, and it can really destroy the immersion. I'm refering here to Ratatouille... Uhg. Plus, a tracked ride allows for some more powerful motions of the plateform, which is good.
  8. There are all the ingredients to have a smooth ride. The designers are not new to the industry, and the ride is build near the construction site: that means the track pieces can be longer than usual as there's no need for them to fit in a shipping container. And longer pieces mean less track bonds mean a smoother ride!
  9. As always, thanks for the awesome updates! (and BTW, thanks Elissa for your reply concerning Gringott's a few pages back!) Sunkid is the compagny regrouping Heege (you know, the Butterfly coasters and awesome Nautic Jets!) and SAT Rides. The later does coaster trains and revamped Walibi Rhône-Alpes' boomerang last year with a train featuring lap-bars and audio.
  10. Is the JLBFM vehicule trackless? What technology does it use?
  11. The time between two MCBR is approximately 20 seconds, so the dispatch time will be under 30 seconds I guess, which is pretty decent. That leads to 960pph with 30 seconds, up to 1440pph within 20 seconds.
  12. ^ I bet it will be able to carry more than one train on the lift hill. I don't think cable lift equal "Intamin's cable lift", that just means it will uses a cable, but then you can fix a bunch of catch car if you want. Otherwise I edited the footage and made the most seamlessly POV I could. I pointed out the MCBRs, too. Hope that's more clear now!
  13. ^ Good catch. And now I realize that the real-life pics of the train were always faced at the seats, but the real fanciness in here are those little wings behind them! Any pictures of that?
  14. ^^ Thank you so much for your interviews! Haha, I remember asking you on FB about that. Glad there is. (Is there the "RCT space shot special"? If you strike hard enough that the seat takes off of the tower? )
  15. Are we gonna talk about the elevator on the Carousel? I got a question: Is the Justice League vehicule trackless?
  16. ^ I edited my post because actually Krake and Thunderbird are different, I made a mistake on my last sentence.
  17. I think Krake and Thunderbird do have the same placements of devices. Thunderbird's LSM and tires are both high because of the wingrider train configuration. See: Top: Two merged screenshots of Krake ; Bottom: Thunderbird animation POV Thunderbird will have the magnets "inside" the tires, while Krake has those outside. The beam under the train that makes contact with the tires is usually very wide on B&Ms, so they managed to find a room for the fins in here.
  18. That's funny because Gringott's coaster looks a lot like the SFX. But it has been stated that Gringott's was from Intamin if I'm not mistaking. The KMG seat is for their pendulum rides. Morey's Pier's Afterburner, "It", already have those. It is rumored that one XXL (a giant pendulum ride) will have those too, which would be terrifyingly great!
  19. Check the webcam, the helix is up: A lot of nets going on here.
  20. Look at that new seat and restraint at the Maurer Söhne booth! As always, thanks for the updates guys.
  21. ^ Dunno, the laser-tag inverting bumper cars was kind of sick, too. But yeah that Joker is really really cool! Wasn't expecting motion-based vehicules either. That's really some exciting news for those dark-rides.
  22. ^ Oh my mistake! I wish more credits would be given toward ride designers, just like you know the director of a movie. I also feel the Alan Schilke vibe.
  23. Guys, this isn't a S&S coaster, the ride is manufactured by US Thrill Rides. EDIT: As ZeroGravity55 said, S&S is indeed involved, my bad. Don't listen to me.
  24. ^ I belive that this is a fan-made guess.
  25. Yep, saw that as well! Epic indeed. For me, the ride goes like: - Pre-lift drop - Spiral lift - Outward banked flat turn - Barrel roll - +90° drop - Dive loop And not in order: - Two more dive loops - Another +90° drop and some other "normal" drops - A zero-g on the tower - A zero-g stall - Fast overbanked turn - Outward camel-back And then the last part outside the tower got: - Some airtime - A top-hat - A zero-g roll Dang that's a lot of action going on there! Inversion count : 7 Airtime possibilities : A bunch!
