This coaster is going to be vicious. I remember that Alan Schilke said once that he likes working with the more compact layouts better, and it really shows. The out-and-back designs of RMC are still more amazing than most coasters, but the compact ones are almost like a step up (and not a step up under flip ). It's like the smaller coasters can fit more intensity and "in your face" elements in their layouts. There's no meandering segments or meandering curves. This coaster may be a dark horse for best new coaster of the year. It will be hard to beat out Lightning Rod though.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I'm sure there's a lot more. It's just a hard topic to think of on the spot. S&S air launched coasters are another example; Dodonpa is the only one that they got dialed in. -
Really surprised that they kept Chiller's station this long if they just decided to tear it down. I always thought that they would reuse it. My heart tells me new coaster or large investment next year, but my brain tells me Justice League (which is technically a big investment, but not as exciting the more times they clone them)

Best Coaster Layout
coasterkid124 replied to DarienLaker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't really say what the best layouts are without listing my favorites. I mean Skyrush and Maverick have a little bit of everything, but I always felt that Skyrush could be a bit longer. In reality SLCs and Boomerangs probably are the right answer here because of their compact sizes and amount of installations around the world. Millennium Force definitely doesn't get a vote from me. I love the ride, and it's definitely historic, but I've been on a lot better. The layout is so repetitive and could have been more forceful. My opinion really doesn't matter, I mean look at how much success the ride has had, but EGF and Superman are far superior and they didn't need the height or speed records to do that. (edit: and I highlighted that phrase in the post because I want to make that clear. Definitely not a MF hater or anything like that. I still enjoy the ride, but I'm just more of an airtime and forcefulness guy over speed and turns. This holds true for out and back woodies vs twisters for me.) -
Are they considering them? Yes, they will consider most major manufacturers before building anything. But will they be doing much business with them until they can prove that they've turned things around? Probably not. While B&M is more expensive, all of the major attractions that they've built for CF over the last few years have been just as popular as Intamins and have had little to no downtime. For them, the extra cost is probably worth the less headaches they will have to deal with. CF is not going to keep dropping big money on Intamin if their products cannot be reliable over the course of years. And this is coming from someone whose favorite manufacturer is Intamin and wishes that every park would build them. Hopefully Intamin can turn around their reputation with their large projects in Europe, and some of the smaller ones in America.

To me, it looks like the rails on most of the course are brown. Maybe they're just doing those and the underside of the track -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Oh, it does. They paid a significant price for STR, and it was plagued with issues and the accident gave them a bad rap. With that money, they could've put in a coaster or a highly themed water ride. Now, I don't want to say that they'll definitely shop elsewhere because anything is possible, but 10.5 million is a huge price for only 5 years of operation. -

Another thing to look at was that STR cost 10.5 million in 2010. That's a significant cost for only 5 years of service. Think of what that money could have been put towards if the park didn't build this. -

I actually never was able to ride it because it was down during pretty much all of my visits. With the flume problems Intamin has had between this and Giraffica, it's going to make it harder for them to get business in America. Cedar Fair will probably have a little falling out with them, and Six Flags won't be spending on anything big from them. I really hope they pull through this and do well with Taron and Flying Aces. -
Oh gotcha. I'm glad that someone agrees with me. The posts aren't even annoying anymore, it's aggravating. I get it if it an outsider just popped in and doesn't really follow the thread, but that's someone who views and responds to the thread on a normal basis. Just to throw those crazy ideas out there when things have been confirmed many times already is just getting old. Who makes a comment hoping that their home park will close for the heck of it? Now Darien Lake isn't a five star park, but it isn't terrible. I would never want that, ever. I still get passes every year and have fun every time I visit.

^It's not a legitimate concern if that poster has been known to derail threads before with crazy comments that are based on no facts whatsoever. Why in the world would DL sell Predator's second train if two train operations have been confirmed to be EXPANDED this season? Plus, why would Fantasy Island buy a second train for a coaster that has been operating one train for almost 20 years now, and the coaster does not have a PLC or safety sensors to support it. This is the same poster that claimed that Cedar Fair will buy the park to close it and run it as a water park only.

Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

^^Ooh, a Huss Magic. I know there's one up in Canada at Marineland. It was a unique and fun ride. There's quite a few on the European circuit, but getting parts for them is extremely hard. I would love top see more of them around though. -
I think the way to go is the original T-Bars, first or second gen, like Cedar Point uses. It really worries me about these complaints, as Darien Lake's RoS is getting a new train this year and will reportedly use restraints like Bizarro's (or Superman's). The ironic thing was that how everyone was happy at first because it could mean doing away with the painful side brackets, but this will be worse. Rider comfort should always come first. I wouldn't even care if the Bizarro theme stayed, and the park spent the money instead on fixing up the trains and removing broken features. And this is coming from a person who was a bigger fan of the original theme.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

At first it sounded like VR would be added with the technological advances comment, but I was so relieved to see that they'll be sticking with live animatronics. There are just some things that you can't replace. -
^^ I haven't seen anything for MFI yet, but usually they have earlier announcements. Last year's announcement was near the end of February. So they may be taking a year off after adding two things last year. This would be the first year that I can remember that something new wasn't added if that's the case. They could have also been planning something for where the ferris wheel is, but it hasn't been removed yet so they might keep it yet. Honestly, for a park as small as MFI, if they don't bring something new every year no matter how small, you would have to imagine that they would lose some business to Darien Lake. Families that might make a visit or two to both parks annually could just see better value in buying DL passes.

As for Silver Comet, why would they repaint the cars again? They were just repainted a few years ago and looked great with all the different colors. Not that I hate the blue, but Predator already has blue trains. The old color scheme made it much more unique.
