  1. With the cooler temps this week I'm thinking it wouldn't be as busy. Last year we laways went on Fridays, the park would be dead and the waterpark was okay.
  2. These are some great photos. It's amazing what all the trees do to really make the park seem more out in the woods than it is.
  3. Just got home from a great day at the park, I'll give a quick review, sorry no pictures. I was going to bring the camera, but the wife decided to stay at home and needed it for work. We arrived around 1:00 PM for our third visit of the year. The parking lot was about 90% full on the main front lot, only 2-3 buses on the other side. Good Sign!! We planned on going straight in and eating at Mooseburger, but we passed Tsunami Soaker and it was a walk-on, so we decided to hit it up real quick. What a really fun ride! You do get totally soaked! About 3/4 of the way through the ride my arm was tired from turning the pump for the spray gun. Still think this would have been better sited for the waterpark, this attraction may be open Mid-May thru Mid-Sept if weather permits and is in a prime location in the front of the park. Sure it is better than an SBNO barrels, but it will be weird with this ride just sitting there during Fright Fest and early in the season. Mooseburger-what can I say normal six flags food, used to think it was the best in the park that has changed, see below. After lunch we hit the waterpark till 5:00 PM, some light rain storms pased through but nothing serious shut down the slide towers for awhile and helped clear out the crowd. We watched them pull out about a 5 foot snake from the lazy river Big Kahuna was closed for some reason, never inquired why. When did it become okay to swim in full street clothes, shirt and all? I know some people have legitimate reasons to cover up, but come on people, if you're too fat to swim without a shirt, lose weight or don't go swimming. So now for dinner, we went to the new JB's Smokehouse Sports Bar. I got the Pulled pork on Pretzel Bun. WOW! This was a really good sandwich, almost worth the $10.99 on the menu. A good amount of pulled pork, topped with cole slaw and pickles sliced the long way, served with what seemed to be a fresh cut thin french fry, almost shoestring. Really can't say enough good things about this. Still not the best BBQ around, but for theme park food, very, very, good. After dinner I split up from my boys as I wanted to see the show at Miss Kitty's, seemed exactly like last year with maybe a song or two changed. Not too impressed. SO I spent the next couple hours just wandering the park, mainly around Tsunami Soaker trying to meet back up with my kids as my phone battery died. I swear Six Flags seems like a black hole for killing a Cell battery. Towards the end of the night Tsunami Soaker had a couple problems with the ride not raising from the pool at the end of the cycle. This made for some very wet rides as the guns were still working with the ride stopped and still submerged. After about 7pm seemed like most rides were walk ons or station waits. I did ride Thunder River once just to see how it looked. Seems like some maintenace/repairs have been done to some of the "rocks" during off season, but could still use a lot of TLC. Finally met up with my boys right near closing they were able to ride all the coasters except Boss, closed early due to some more weather coming in. Good Job Today Six Flags!
  4. I've never had a problem with any of the slides scrapingmy back or my kids'. My only thing was during the preview of bonzai, i nervously tried to "catch" myself during/after the drop and.slammed and elbow pretty good, it was sore for like a week.
  5. Does he not like Big KAhuna (big red family raft slide) or the other Tube slides? I can even handle those and I don't do much..
  6. Link to Channel 5's video from media day http://www.ksdk.com/story/entertainment/television/show-me-st-louis/2014/05/22/six-flags-summer-new-ride/9438931/
  7. Where are these charity ran amusment/theme parks with free admission, free food, free parking and great rides? I need to move there.
  8. Thanks. I was getting worried, I am a thirsty man. Any chance they will improve the refill situation at hurricane ? It can take 20-30 minutes sometimes. I would say that is my biggest complaint about the whole park. Have not been yet this year and I am so ready. Probably more than my kids. Been going since I was to small to ride the coasters. I remember shedding a lot of tears every time I got turned down. I think hitting those fold out iron bars was the biggest rite of passage as a child. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple Freestyle machinew added to HH. I believe at least 4-5 were added on the regular park side. The self service drinks should be much quicker.
  9. That's crazy!! Around St. Louis, the ones.is walmart and shopping mall parking lots have the nicest rides, sketchy operators, but nice rides. The smaller city and church picnic have worse looking rides, but nicer operators.
  10. Own the park, assuming it's financially stable. Must have waterpark portion and of course, I'd live on site.
  11. Just out of curiosity what cell prodiver do you have? I tried to upload a picture to FB yesterday while at the park and couldn't do it. Seems like cell service throughout the park sucks for us.
  12. I really think this is a poor argument, because how far does $240 go for a family road trip, barely covers two nights in a decent hotel. We went to Chicago for a long weekend last year to go to SFGA and probably spent $1000 and that was without park admission since we have SF passes.
  13. Just got back from our first visit of the year. Arrived just about 10:30 and left about 2 pm. Just a few observations: Crowds were light. New ride really seems misplaced, thinks maybe it should have been in between HH and the regular park. Boomerang down. SE-one train Boss-one train?? Really long line, skipped it. Freeze-two trains Lots more Coke Freestyle machines The new JB's BBQ and Sports!! Completely un Six Flags like. Ordered the Kryptonite drink at JB's almost knocked my wife and I on our rear ends. Pretty potent. $10 drink, WORTH IT! Work study employees do not need to be on the front lines! Lastly as a smoker, they removed at least one smoking area and another one was labeled as "Vaping Area", but everyone was smoking in it. Stop changing smoking/moving smoking areas. This can only lead to people smoking in non-designated areas of the park. Overall Not a bad visit for early in the year.
  14. Most families will continue to buy season passes because they are a great value for the price and SFSTL adds a new attraction every year, even if some of the additions aren't very exciting. Exactly, so why bother spending huge on a capital investment.
  15. Of course your going to gain a large attendance boost when adding a large new attraction, but if the boost is only for one and not sustained, is it worth it? How was the attendance the 2nd and 3rd years following a big add-on? Also after Batman and HH the years following we also received other smaller additions. I guess to try and figure out these answers, you need to know a lot of variables. What is current average yearly attendance? How much does the current visitor spend per visit? Does the added attendance include repeat visitors? Do repeat visitors spend less each additional visit? I just think from a corporate mentality it is hard to justify a one time boost in attendance over a $10-$15 million investment. I will stick to my thought that an investment that large would be better spent on a new section opening of the park with 3-4 flats and much needed general upkeep and theming. SFSL will never be a destination park when SDC and SFGA are only 4 hours in either direction.
  16. Did anyone see on FB they are shooting the Tsunami Soaker commercial on May 9th, looking for volunteers? I'm guessing we could see the ride open sooner than Memorial Day then.
  17. I'm thinking either $10 or $15. The first re-print may be free though. I've had to do this for my kids before as they left them with other friends they went with. The old pass if found does become invalid.
  18. Do 't forget most parks would have halloween events going on, just adding.to the crowds. This seems like a disappojntment trying to schedule this time of year.
  19. Wow what an amazing thread. To see the passion and love shared for this coaster to keep it around for future generations is really inspiring.
  20. If one bad experience ruined my tradition, I don't think I would celebrate Christmas, Easter or Thanksgiving with my family.
  21. Of the Darkness, City Museum, or the tradeshow? Of the Darkness, City Museum, or the tradeshow? Must be thre trade show, it's impossible not to hear a Darkness commercial during October. Also Scarefest is the name.of three seperate attractions the company that runs the Darkness puts on. One is an outside haunt, which was pretty lame, the other is in an old cave system that was used for storing beer. We went to the cave on a lights out night and it was amazing, but might not be open anymore as the building above are being turned into lofts.
  22. Does anyone know officially what process we are going to have to go through to switch over from the current season pass cards to the new fingerprint scanning? I'm just curious if we will need to go to season pass processing again after waiting in it last fall.
  23. While I love your idea a taking a train to St. Louis. The amtrak station is downtown, and I don't believe there are any rental car places downtown. You would need to take Metrolink(which is only a short walk from Amtrak) to the airport to get a car rental. Six flags is really past the urban areas of St. louis and is poorly serviced by the local bus service if at all. City Museum would be a lengthy walk from the Amtrak station but could be shortened by taking the metrolink for a few stops. I assume it looks like your coming from the Chicago area? The train ride is quite enjoyable, but I was looking at the train trip to Chicago for a day trio and couldn't find any that offered the full service dining car for the return, which I think is a must. Some friends and I did this trip 15 years ago and the dinner on the train was the best part. I think you would need at least two days in SL to accomplish your goals with a half day on each end getting to and from the airport/picking up and returing a rental car. Lastly: Don't be scared of the Amtrak station.
  24. Did they also remove the airbrush shop that was located under the "que area?" tag?
  25. Wouldn't it all depend on the park? Some park are "destination" parks, while other are "local" parks? With most "local" parks having a majority of guests owning season passes? How would dynamic pricing affect season passes? Locally, I know the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team uses dynamic pricing. They have tickets as low as $5 for a weeknight game against an unpopular team, but bring the cubs in for Memorial Day weekend series and prices will be well above average. I think this makes perfect sense, simple law of supply and demand. I guess there is a fine line between dynamic pricing and price gouging though. What if the price of a hot chocolate or coffee went up on a cold day and the price of a slushie dropped? Would that be okay too?
