As a smoker, I'm fine with smoing only in a designated area away from everything else. Please don't move smoking areas mid season. I also can't stand the e-cigs and they annoy me more than regulars cigs. SFSL started having two different areas for regular cigs and e-cigs. I feel e-cigs should be confined to a designated area. Is an employee supposed to inspect every cloud of smoke/vapor too see what is real?

Trip to Missouri

Okay I know this sounds crazier, but I would switch SFSL with your city museum plans. SFSL is technically on the way to Branson and about an hour from the airport. You could then get more time at the park and dad can rest while you do the driving from SFSL to Branson. Stay downtown on the night after the Cardinals game and you'll be near the City Museum and should be able to squeeze in other downtown activities or Forest Park. I know this makes day one really long, but eases up on the other days, -

4 hours for SFSL is fine to hit all the coasters, but not much else. I would look at flying into KC and out of SL or vice versa, save about a day's driving back and forth. Question where you flying from?? A long flight will make that first day real rough on dad. Edit: I am a moron, looks like you' re flying from Jersey area, so would definitely be a long day one. -

We've gone opening day/weekend the last couple of years, for the most part the weather has been pretty poor which keeps the crowds away. If I remember correctly we had a snowfall less than a week before opening for 2013. Many people are busy processing season passes and waits are very minimal. It's a great time to go the the park. Now if we would have a 70 degree sunny day, that could be another story. -
What Brand/Property Needs A Ride?

I know some of these suggestions are in jest, but some aren't mainstream enough to reach out to the GP. I would agree with: Muppets Ghostbusters MMPR and anything Mario related I would also add: TMNT(not sure if anything exists already) -

Tom's Twister was my absolutely favorite ride at the park. One day we rode it at least 9 times in a row until closing, barely stumbled out of the park that day. -

Rail Blazer At Six Flags St. Louis

Yeah it seems like there's three different types of leg restraints, two different ones in the promo photos and another one in the personal photo. edit: second photo looks to be an artist rendering. Also it looks like the track was adjusted/reprofiled after the trains were removed or was it done before and after the stand up trains? -

I don't necessarily disagree that we don't need 2-3 thrilling flats, i just think the need is greater for another family ride or two first. Maybe the best plan would be to add an entire new are to the park the would include 4 smaller level flats, 2 thrill and 2 family. It would be a lot easier to market a new area of the park and 4 rides, just don't see it happening though. -

Just googled Six Flags concerts and this seems to be the best list I could find, although it's nowhere near complete: http://www.songkick.com/venues/52755-six-flags-st-louis/gigography Just my idea on what the thrill rides are at SFSL (8): Batman, Boomerang, Boss, Mr Freeze, Superman, Screaming Eagle, SkyScreamer(my 11 year old will ride any coaster but this scares him), Excalibur(sidenote, not currently listed of SFSL's website.. hmm...) Family Rides (14): Colossus, Carousel, Highland Fling(I put this in Family even though it goes upside down), Log Flume, Moon Cars, Pandemonium, Mine Train, Rush Street Flyer, Shazam, Scooby Doo, The Joker, The Railroad, Tsunami Soaker This is exactly as how Six Flags has them listed on their site, excluding Excalibur. This does not include any of the Kiddie Rides, which I would say are suited for most ages 10 and under without accommodating adults. Just IMHO, i think we could still use two more family rides before any more thrill rides/coasters are added. I think we need our bumper cars back, and some type of spin and puke ride(Wipeout, Tilt-A-Whirl, Trabant-style ride), although these on their own would be a tough sell to anyone in the GP. -

Wow! What great old videos! A couple things I never knew, The skyride seemed to move pretty quickly, I always imagined they moved slow. Where was the Scrambler located? I couldn't quite make out the location. Mo-Mo was located where SkyScreamer is? Does anyone have a list of the concerts held at SFSL? I remember seeing pictures of Dolly Parton and maybe Willie Nelson. I remember seeing Weird Al and Crash Test Dummies. I know they had NKOTB, which practically shut down the highway, the park got so crowded. I still wish Six Flags would have more concerts ate the park, 2-3 Christian concerts a year doesn't excite me. -

Sounds like the long term plan would be to move the ticket windows to the left of the current entrance near where they set up the temporary souvenir stand, similiar to Great America. As far as wharf theming for the new ride, I could think they could very easily paint a few of the building that were Old West theme a blue/gray color, add some old fishing nets, buoys, etc and some tin roofing to replace a lot of the old wooden singles that seemed to be in bad shape anyway. The big thing would then being to remove the facade to the right of the old chevy show building. Then next up would be to do something permanent to the Chevy Show building, a small flat could fit there perfectly. I know they used this building for the first time in like ten years this year for the haunted house, but having it sit empty during most the operating season seems useless. BTW, great job getting this thread back on track. -

Haven't posted for awhile in here just because of all the Iron Boss talk, I agree that why waste time/space talking about a dream/pure speculation. Pages of this post could be deleted if all the Iron Boss talk was gone. Great pictures of the Hannibarrels, it was one of my favorite rides at the park. Lastly, my family attended that Hazelwod School district STEM fair today. This is a big event where they promote careers/education in Science, Technology and Math. Six Flags St Louis was setup with a table promoting their Science/Physics day(s) at the park. They had a stack of various blueprints on the table, which I looked at a fewa and appeared to be motors, One labelled Madusa/Goliath, kinda interesting. They also had a little giveaway at their table, I haven't seen these before. Free Giveaway!! -

A couple quick questions about Silver Dollar City: I'm trying to plan a trip down for the holiday event, thinking about the weekend after Christmas. Will the crowds be huge?? Is there another weekend that would be better?? Coming from St. Louis I know the weather will be cold, but what is the possibility of catching most the rides open?? MY kids won't mind the cold. Last one, I was looking around on ebay the other day for Silver Dollar City merchandise and found some older mugs that sold for $25 each. Are older mugs still good for a refill program?? What years do the mugs have to be from?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You're right we are comparing apples to oranges when talking about Branson vs St. Louis. St. Louis metropolitan population is 2.8 million(this includes 17 counties surrounding St. Louis) Branson population is a little over 10,000 and add in surrounding counties. For 2010, 8 million tourist visitors were estimated in Branson. Even if you divide that evenly between 12 months that would only be 1.5 million tourists during November and December. And let's be realistic most of those 8 million are during April-August. So with St. Louis population of 2.8 vs Branson tourist population of 1.5 million, Six Flags couldn't draw for 5-6 weekends during November-December? I think enough people would attend a Holiday in the Park to make it successful enough or at least worth taking a hard look at. Of course in the beginning it couldn't be expected to as successful as SDC's holiday events, but those have been 20 years in the making and of course a completely different feel. Also overall attendance of the park I'm sure is probably 100% opposite as SFsTL's attendance is probably 90% local and SDC's attendance is probably 90% tourist. -

Just a quick thought.. Who rode the Holidead express this year? The Christmas/horror theming of it got me thinking of a possible Holiday in the Park here. The weather is not that cold and we normally have a few warmer weekends that most of the rides could actually be running. I would assume the park has a break even attendance figure that would need to be attained to make it worthwhile though. -
These are probably the same parents arguing at the front gate that their child is short enough for "child" prices....

Woodie, Glad you made it out to FF today. My family and I made it out also. Maybe we should all try some sort of meet up at sometime, with some folks from the old board. While I agree with many of your points, like moving the hours back. Starting the scary stuff during the daylight, really doesn't work. The park should be open until at least midnight if not later on a Saturday night. I was really pleased with the amount of scare actors during freaks unleashed, seems like twice as many as years past. The costumes and make-up do a fair job in creeping out the teen audience and younger, the older crowd, not so much. We watched LAFF, which is normally our favorite part of FF, but was completely and utterly disappointing. I'm really tired of the same person playing Witchy, although Frankie, Griff, and Wolfie were pretty good. They did change the playlist slightly from last year(took out Werewolves of London and added Little Red Riding Hood song, also seem like Frankie's song/rap was extended by a verse or two). We also caught a little of the freaks unleashed dance show, like previously stated, same old, same old, same routines, same costumes, pretty bland. We stopped and watch the Freak show for about 5 minutes and have seen pretty much all of his material before, so it doesn't really hold our interest. The decorations I thought were great, the spider arch by the moons cars was pretty cool(not scary, but neat looking). The two NEW small FREE walkthroughs both seemed pretty well done. The butcher shop/restaurant near the log flume was cool, even though it seemed the scare actors were on a break when we walked through. The clown walkthrough behind Funnel Cakes/Johnny Rockets was also well done, especially with one of those cool spinning tunnels. We also stayed out of the haunted houses tonight, even though with the low crowd it would have been a great night. Will try to get to them in two weeks, which is the soonest I think we can return. Anyway so much for the ramble. -
