  1. I can't report for weekdays, Sunday was running at 45-60 minutes all day until a final storm passed through about 7 pm. Then my first wait was about 20 minutes, 2 nd and 3rd waits about 10 minutes, but the park had really cleared out.
  2. Has anyone ridden JL:BFM without shooting and trying to play the game? I would highly recommend it! You can focus on the story and actually seem to notice quite a bit more than when focusing on shooting the targets.
  3. Why can't I remember if the vehicles for JL had onboard audio? If they don't, doesn't it seem like that would have been a better fix from the start?
  4. I would break the ride into two parts the ride itself( from being seated in vehicle to exiting vehicle) and the ride experience( outside views, queues, waiting areas, loading area and exit area). The ride it self is at least a 9/10 for me. The ride experience is maybe a 7/10 in my opinion. I don' t think people are trying to nit pick, but when a ride of this caliber is announced and opened, nothing less than perfection should be expected. When enthusiasts and GP see minor improvements/details that could have been tweaked, why don' t the professionals that built, designed, and installed see the same things? I just really think this was rushed to be opened and another week or two would been able to clean up and tweak everything that has been pointed out. Even my kids asked on our second ride, if we skipped a section due to what seemed like a large period of darkness.
  5. Just got back from a full day at the park. Pictures WILL be included! Just a quick note before I get to JL:BFM, there was not a gold pass early entry today. Not sure if there even is one anymore. Now on to the good stuff, they had a sort opening ceremony with Dave Roemer and Superman at 11 AM, with a couple quick blasts of fireworks, then the ride "officially opened. Before the ride even opened the entire outside queue was full and slightly overflowing. We jumped in line and almost the entire outside queue fit into the two inside sections. At the point we were at the signs said approximately a 75 minute wait. Well after about 30 minutes we were informed they were having trouble with one of the ride vehicles and would have to spend about 30 minutes to remove the vehicle from the track. A small number of guests left the line, but the majority stayed put. Just a couple quick observations from the pre-ride experience. The pavement on the old outdoor queue section seemed pretty beat up and should have been re-paved/concreted. The first indoor section of the queue with the JL banners, the banners had a small layer of construction dust on them and one a footprint could almost be seen, small details like this go a long way with me. How hard is it to get a guy with a ladder and sponge to give them a quick wiping down? The monitors in the queue kept turning on and off, not sure if this is to avoid repeating the same stuff over and over again or if it's a minor flaw on part of the operations. When we finally arrived at the turnstile we were #301-303, after approximately 1:15 of operations. They did have a ride grouper which seemed to help out but did confuse some people as I can't remember a ride here ever having a grouper except Thunder River. The grouper was very loud and did a good job a calling out for the number of people needed to fill a car. The two rows of three for seating will problematic as many people seem to go to the park in groups of two as most other rides it convenient. On to the ride itself, it was absolutely amazing! I am not a very patient person and after waiting almost two hours for a ride, I came off feeling that it was time well spent. Every section of the rides seems to fully immerse you into it. The screen with the "virtual loop" and "corkscrew" are by far the best part. The sense of movement you feel is absolutely incredible. At times you feel like you are going 50 miles per hour. Anyway I don't think I can really add too much more that hasn't already been said. The onride photo at the end is not very good. They need to zoom in more for the individual riders. Anyway it does seem like they rushed to open the ride, given the small details that could have been easily cleaned up. The overall ride experience was incredible and the small things didn't take anything away from the ride. The ride seemed to maintain a wait around 1:15 all day long. When my boys decided to go out on their own for a little bit, I asked the girl working the Flash Pass lane if they were taking single riders, she just looked at me kinda puzzled. This would be an easy fix to help the grouper out. We got back in line about 15 minutes before closing for a second ride and it seemed like the loaders had increased speed marginally. When we went the the second time, the turnstile was at 2375. If you do the the math, that's just below 300 pph. Not great capacity at all, but they were running a vehicle short almost all day. Onto a few pictures I snapped with my phone today, not the best quality at all. Preparing for a grand opening High quality JL merch for sale More high quality merch for sale Okay, so maybe not so high quality Dave Roemer making some opening remarks And heeeere's Superman! Some smoke and the ride is now "officially" open! Obligatory Cyborg photo
  6. Here goes for SFSL: 1. Removal of/lack of bumper cars 2. Extreme shortening of Moon Cars antique car ride 3. Removal of Jetscream-replaced in long run by B:TR, but park needs an intermediate/ beginner steel coaster None of these are deal breakers, just minor things that could make the park better
  7. Need to remember that B:TR was almost 20 years ago, take inflation and current steel prices would make that at least a $20 million dollar price tag.
  8. 2 or 3 huge additions in the next five years? Are you serious? We'd be lucky to get 1 or 2 LARGE additions in the next five years. I would consider JL a Large addition. The only addition for this park I would consider HUGE is a big steel monster. I still think too many of our rides are near the end of their life cycle to expect a new area to open. Tidal Wave will be gone soon, Ninja, I think will be gone soon. The Log Flume seems to need some major re-vamping soon. Excalibur seems to be very tempermental, not saying that it will be gone, but many more problems and I think it could be on the chopping block. S:TOP, although newer to us has never seemed to be fully functional in the five years I've been attending the park. Just thinking all these are more likely to be replaced before a "new area" is opened up. The only way I can see a new area opening up is if it starts with a Huge coaster for one year and then add in 3-4 small carnival type flats in the following years. I think more likely next years addition would be a water coaster in the current paintball area. Has anyone ever noticed the paved path near Big Kahuna continues another 30-40 feet past the entrance to nothing. Seems like this would be an area easier to expand. Also finally rode Thunder River on my last visit, noticed the patched up water fall area near the end of the ride. If they were trying to use a local tie in by calling it the Bagnall Water Works or whatever it was, do they realize Bagnall was spelled wrong? It's Bagnell Dam at the Lake of the Ozarks. Anyway I'm going to miss all the previews for JL and hope to get to the park at opening on Friday to give it a whirl.
  9. No doubt they are trying to sell people on gold Level Season passes. The thing is Gold Level Passes are the same price as any other most of the year and going to a SF park just twice more than pays for a season pass. Why they didn't do a season pass preview on Friday with Gold passes have 4-6 hours and regular passes having 2-4 hours is beyond me. It seems if the ride was 100% ready to open, you would want to start getting people through it ASAP to drive up attendance as soon as possible. I'm curious if it was open Friday night for the charity event?
  10. I'd love to see what they could do to the Chevy Show with modern technology. I remember it being pretty cool as a kid. Is the chevy show building large enough for a mouse in a box type coaster. I see waterpark addition next year, but with 45the anniversary, who knows?
  11. That really surprised me, are we sure media day is still on for tomorrow? It seems like they really don't want to commit to anything. I would be screaming an opening day to any one that would listen.
  12. Just got home from the park today, It was a another very good day at the park. We arrived just after 2 and headed straight to the waterpark for lunch, stayed in the waterpark for about three hours. The waterpark was not very crowded, short waits for Lazy River, Tube Slides, Bonzai, about a 15 minute wait for Big Kahuna, no wait for speed slides. The regular park was also very slow when we got into it. I'll save my big news for the end. Just before 7pm a very large downpour came and really cleared almost everyone out. All rides re-opened by about 7:30-7:45. At this point everything became a walk on. Screaming Eagle was running with 6-8 passengers, Boomerang was running with 8-10 passengers. My boys rode Boomerang 3 times in a row and by the end of the night they said they rode Mr. Freeze, American Thunder, Batman, and Ninja all within 15 minutes. Anyway ran into Dave before the rain hit and questioned him on when JL:BFM will be open. I asked "So next Friday?", he said, "where did you hear that?", I told him I figured since media day was next Thursday, Friday it would be open. He said, "Think around the park's anniversary", I told him I didn't know when that was, He said, "June 5th". He said they may be a couple "events" before then though. So anyway according to the Park President, it looks like June 5th. Sorry to disappoint those that were making visits late this week.
  13. I ran into Dave Roemer two weeks ago at the park and took the opportunity to ask him about this very issue. He said they are well aware of the possibility of excessively long lines, and if necessary are prepared to use return tickets so people don't have to stand around for hours. I was concerned about capacity months ago, and it just seemed to be ignored. I fear 2-3 hour waits for this ride in the beginning. Scooby still would have 45 min+ waits many days and it was higher capacity.
  14. Thanks to my sons' soccer tournament being cancelled this weekend, we were able to make only our second trip of the season to the park. I'm not going to give a full report, but just run through some highlights. We Arrived about noon and headed to the burrito stand that had no wait! First time I've ever seen that. We then took the loop past moon cars, log flume, and towards JL:BFM. All I can say is WOW! Like stated in a couple previous posts this really ties this entire area together and will present for a really immersive experience. Maybe we will see some of the real-life characters in that area of the park again when the ride opens and would add another layer of realism to the area. Like said though the recently remodeled JB's sticks out like a sore thumb. Also to answer previous question about the old outdoor queue left from Scooby, it is still there except for a few sections that had to be removed to put the large door in the side of the building to get materials/equipment in and out. They have it primed and ready to paint a new color rather the swamp green color it was. Assuming there is a large queue area inside, I hope the outside queue never gets full. With the on and off again rain most the morning that kept the crowds rather light until about 3pm or so when the park seemed pretty full, but ride waits still stayed rather short. We caught the show at Miss Kitty's Saloon, it was just okay. The male performers seemed to really carry the show. The singing was okay and the comedy aspects were very good. I noticed that had put up walls on either end of the theater where the bars used to be located. I don't remember if this was like that for fright fest and not taken down or if it was done for this season. We also caught the Looney Toons character show at the Empire theater. This was the same "we Got The Beat" show as the past couple of years. The younger kids seemed to enjoy it and I love the 80's tunes, so it wasn't awful. One thing I did notice was that they had all six costumed characters hanging around outside the theater before the show to help bring people in to the theater and it seemed to work pretty well. Don't ever remember seeing six characters together at once in the park. All were outside for at least 15 minutes prior to the show for photo ops. Biggest question is: Do kids under 10 even know who Bugs, Daffy and Tweety are? They had a baton twirling competition at the park today too. They put on a show at 6pm which was pretty cool to watch. Tsunami Soaker was dead all day long, kinda sad too see for a second year ride. Although it never seemed to have lines last year either. My bag of cotton candy I got today as a snack seemed about half the size I got on my first visit, but noticed they added First Cone to the snack options. Only complaint would be that snack needs to be used before 7:30 pm. Seems like the snack time should be allowed until park close. Other than that It really was a great Six Flags Day!
  15. I believe you can enter the park up to 30 minutes early. Most of the rides won't be open yet, but you can be the first in line for your favorite ride in the morning. It really comes in handy when you want that primo spot at Hurricane Harbor. You won't have to fight too many people for the chair you want to camp out in. I believe I arrived early enough to use the special early entry once. If I remember correctly you enter on the far right side in front of the restrooms located between the ticket booths and main gate. They scan you in and if you are going to Hurricane Harbor, you have to wait along that pathway. If you are going to the amusement park side, it really doesn't get you much except to the front of the crowd for when they release you into the park. This may have changed, but this is what I seem to remember. Hah! You basically just summed up the Holiday World! That mixed with constant Paula leg humping. It's really been bothering me for awhile, looked all over to try and contact a mod or admin type, but couldn't find anything so finally had to speak up. I belive Dave Roemer at some point expressed disinterest regarding Larson Loop flat rides and said he didn't want to see one be put in, don't quote me on that though. Im sure we all would rather have like something other than that. Plus im sure the park has heard our 'signature steel coaster plz' requests for a while and probably have that somewhere on their list of additions to consider. People always say it's tedious as crap to put 'new steel coaster' and 'six flags st louis' in the same sentence but my gut says it'll happen in the next 5 years or so if not 2016. We'll just keep hoping! I always thought a Green Lantern themed B&M Hyper would be a dream. People have mentioned also an S&S 4D coaster and honestly that wouldn't bother me too much. Take out Ninja, you've got a perfect plot of land there. Not sure how a Larson Loop and a signature-type steel coaster are even comparable. Just look at cost alone- Larson Loop under $1 mil, any good steel coaster At least $8 mil? Definition dominate-To control, govern, or rule by superior authority or power. Can't see how multiple things can dominate, but I understand what you are saying. 15 years ago only one or two rides stuck out above the trees, now there's maybe a dozen.
  16. I relly feel SFSL is missing an "intermediate" coaster like Jetscream. It only has one inversion, would be a great in between coaster for those too scared of Batman, Freeze, or Ninja, but bored with Mine Train and Pandemonium.
  17. I am so glad someone finally called you out on your un-necessary posting, it really gets on my nerves too! Feel free to particpate when you have something to add to the discussion, constant posts of I'm so excited" and "I can t wait" do nothing to add to the conversation. This bumps a post to the top and I'm expecting some new information and just get your silly comments. MODS: I apologize if I'm stepping over the line but according to board rules posting for posting sake isn't alllwed and I've looked all over for a way to contact a mod.
  18. Do they still route the Entrance and Exit through that games area? That never made sense to me. Then to leave the first Queue Station abandoned, why?? If they were going to remove it for a new Flat or something then I would understand, but I imagine it is still there serving no purpose. Yes the entrance and exit are about 10 feet apart at the end of the games alley. Isn't the old queue still used except for the very beginning? Isn't the old entrance currently in the smoking area near Old Glory?
  19. Normally those ERT's include a section of the park. So if its american Thunder, it will most likely include the moons cars and the log flume.
  20. Actually saw Dave out squeegeeing the entrance as we walked into the park Friday morning and saw him again as we were in the smoking area. Walked right up and shook my hand when we first saw him as we chat a little bit every time I see him.
  21. you may want to look into purchasing a six flags dining pass. They are running about $80, but cover 2 meals and a snack a day at the park. Looks like your hitting 4 SF parks so that would bring those food costs down to $20 a day. Just make sure they are valid nationally. I know theme park food isn't the best, but it may be a step above fast food and you'll leave yourself with more time at the park.
  22. I didn't take many pics but here are some "renovations" I noticed: -Go Fresh Cafe and a new chicken restaurant are now sharing the space where Character Cafe was -Smokehouse's patio has been extended with lots of new outdoor seating -Palace has been repainted/freshened up -The gift shop near Shazam is now called "Superheros and Villains" and has lots of Justice League merch Go check out HWFan's post a few pages back. He has pictures of all the things I mentioned. Same here I didn'teven bring my camera seeing all the pics HWFan posted, it would seem redundant. Really I didn't even notice the expanded patio at JB's. Most of what I saw was just minor touch ups throught out the park, new paint here, new wood there, no one really big thing.
  23. Well as I posted earlier we were at the park today. Some good, some bad. We waited in line at gust relations for almost two hours to get my two sons' passes reprinted. This should be totally and completely unacceptable. I don't understand why someone doesn't work the line that can solve the "easy" problems. Finally after getting into the park we were going to eat lunch at the burrito place, but line was very long so we decided on JB's BBQ instead. As much as I liked the food last year, it just seemed different. At this point the kids split from the wife and I and met back with us at about 3:45. In which time they said they had ridden all the coasters except The Boss which was closed. The wife and I really don't ride much but did enjoy a lap around the entire park and took a lap around on the train. Very impressed with how they cleaned up the construction area around JLBM and made it presentable. The newly remodeled gift shop was pretty cool. Stopped and got my "free" bag of cotton candy. As always we were people watching, biggest thing I noticed were the number of people I overheard talking about Santa Claus, In or Holiday World. The park needs to realize that HW is becoming major competition. Anyway about 3:45 the kids regrouped with us after riding B:TR, it wasn't time to use the dinner passes yet so we were going to head to get one of them a bag of cotton candy and stopped by RKMT on the way there. This is when things got more interesting, shortly after 4 the park experienced the power outage, my boys were just out of the station of RKMT when it happened. Within a minute or two an employee left the station to close the line and check to see to what was going on, another employee was talking talking with the train that was stoppped coming into the station and a final employee on the bridge over the exit talking with the train that my boys were on. Within 5 minutes employees realized it was a widespread power outage and it would be awhile. I decided to take a quick walk through the park at this time to see IF Mr. Freeze had vallied and what other evacuations were taking place. I snapped a quick picture with my iPhone of Thunder River, but couldn't get any others. I did see people walking down the lift hill of B:TR. Within 10 minutes I made it back to RKMT where my boys were now on a train that only had passengers on the last two cars, apparently there was a way off for the front few cars, but as you will see in my pictures, my boys were stuck about 6 feet off the ground. Within a couple more minutes they had a stepladder and several staff members assisting them off the train to the ground making sure they were safe the whole way. I must say I was very impressed with the ride ops that seemed to have ever ride cleared within 20 minutes of the power outage. What a test for the first day of operations! They passed with flying colors. I really didn't hear any guests complaining and most realized it was out of the parks control. Anyway on to the few pictures we snapped today with camera phones. I hate to use the term "evacuated" as it sounds like there was danger involved, but can't find another word that seems to make sense. Evacuating on Thunder River My kids being evacuated from RKMT My kids being evacuated from RKMT My kids being evacuated from RKMT My kids being evacuated from RKMT
  24. At the park today, just suffered a park wide power outage.
