  1. I have always thought this and put it on every survey. I mean you paid for a certain quantity of meals/snacks; why can't you use them whenever you want? And like you I think it would help lines. Particularly at events like FF when everyone is trying to eat all at once (after dinner starts and before the haunts open). I kind of assume the reason they don't do this is so you don't use it for friends. For example, if we come to FF at 4 in the afternoon because we mostly want to experience the park in the dark, we are not going to have 2 meals and a snack. If we could use those meals anytime, it would be easy to treat a friend that doesn't have a DP. The question is: Are they really losing that much money? Would someone mooching off a friend spend the money if they didn't have that opportunity or would they just stuff their face at Steak n Shake before/after a visit? I mean if they were willing to bring in food trucks it shows some willingness to give up profit for happy visitors. . We went to the park again yesterday as my oldest was in from college for the weekend and my wife and I were discussing the same thing. Wouldn't it be better to have happy/satisfied customers that can eat whenever they want and spread the lines out throughout the day then force the times. We waited in food lines for at least 30-45 minutes for each meal yesterday. Granted this was one of the busiest days I've ever seen the park, but the funny thing is, once dining hours were over at 8:30 the park seemed to clear out slightly. If the hours were extended to one hour before closing, do you think more people would stay in the park and possibly spend more on games, etc. Al though I must admit, not many games were open yesterday, it seemed like they must have put games employees in food service positions, not sure this is even possible with health requirements, but seemed like the only explanation in not having games open. The other thing we've learned is it doesn't seem like the enforce the times too hard when busy as we ordered lunch at about 4:40 and dinner at about 8:45 both after the designated cut offs. As far as arriving at the park after X time, why not just post guests arriving after X will only be allowed one meal and snack. Quite honestly some of the snack options could be a meal for a light eater. The pretzels are huge, I believe a turkey leg is now a snack upgrade, or the half and half at Johnny Rockets could hold someone over.
  2. Just got back from my first visit to SFSL in about two years. Wondering why we decided to buy season passes again. Here's a few of my highlights: Justice League CLOSED(only ride the wife really wanted to ride) Two hour window to use dining pass for Dinner and Snack. That's a lot of food to consume in two hours, let alone wait in line for. Love at First Fright-Worst I've seen in forever. Singing is awful, new songs are awful, and LAFF is usually a highlight of a Fright Fest visit for us. Skyscreamer-best lighting package in the whole park, NO LIGHTS!! Took a train ride, sat in the station for almost 20 minutes. Not too mention all the typical hoosiers and roaming teenagers. I guess I'm just becoming an old grouch. Kinda wished I would have saved money on season and dining passes just for a weekend at SDC.
  3. You know what I kind of like this idea. Have the option of a non-spinning car. My local park, SFSL, doesn't really offer an intermediate coaster and having a non-spinning car could be a good thing.
  4. Nice pictures. Haven't been to the park in about two years now. Like how they put the Thunder River sign over the rock wall that was falling apart.
  5. What's crazy is you could directly correlate attendance spikes with $$ spent on improvements. 1999-hurricane harbor opens 2000-boss opens 2001-current attendance declines as no major installations happen. We can talk all about how much JL cost but as that attendance graph proves, it's not as marketable as a new coaster.
  6. Sorry I have to call BS on this. A company would not spend money on advertising in an area if they didn't feel for some reason that area wasn't currently being satisfied by its local provider. They are expecting customers to come from. The Stl area or they wouldn't spend money on billboards and TV. Are all the customers they pull in coming DIRECTLY from SFSTL customers? I'm sure they are not, but as previously stated, would you really want to draw from SFSTL's current customer base. Can you tell us for a fact that SFSTL management wouldn't love to have the customers that are going to SDC, HW, Or the Dells?? I see this the same as college sports recruiting, you need to lock up your borders. A.K.A. Bring in 99.9% of the local population and be considered #1 in your market. I haven't bought season passes this year and at this point am more likely to visit HW this year than SFSTL, due to the upgrades at HW and lack of improvements at SFSTL. I hope this all makes sense as I'm still excited over a Blues win. LGB!!
  7. What's the point in adding lighting packages to any ride? The park is barely open in the dark except for FF.
  8. Okay, I guess I'm confused on The New Revolution/Ninja VR upgrade! Is it going to be the same video for every VR ride at all the parks? I figured it would be different for each ride and based on each ride's unique elements.
  9. Did you anyone else notice "the New Revolution" logo pointing to the Ninja, but it still say Ninja down below?
  10. Wasn't the title of the show pretty generic? Like "dance party live from tremors"? I believe Rik Idol aka Todd Newton from from Hot 97 hosted.
  11. I would assume due to weather conditions, everything past the train tracks near the mine train(including Skyscreamer, Superman, and Screaming Eagle would be close), just due to the possibility of ice/snow of that hilly area, The Boss would obviously be closed and it needs to be at least 45 degrees or so for it to run. I would imagine most the rest of the park could be open. BTW, sorry for the double post.
  12. Wow, I think someone hijacked Prozac's account. I've always wondered how many on here came from sfstl.net. I'm all in for a mule drop, but it would be hard to compete with a Mule-go-Round reverse blast. I bet people would come from overseas to ride those. I came over from the old site, but don't remember the mule drop stuff. This is exactly why HITP could do well, and why Six Flags-SL stays busy. Cheaper and closer to home.
  13. It's a glorified carnival ride! They start construction Monday afternoon, they should be done by dinner later that day.
  14. The waterslides from Goonies! They always looked like so much fun, especially with the drops at the end.
  15. Well what the hell was that all about?! I'm more curious why Kimbo Slice was working security at the fair.
  16. SFSTL has completed a lot of painting projects at the park over the last year. I really think all of the restaurants in the park need some TLC. With more and more people eating at the restaurants in the park, most of the restaurants show lots of wear. Besides whatever the new ride will be in 2016.. what would you like to see the park change or update? My opinion? This is just my opinion, but our family of 5 ( my wife and I and our 3 children) has season passes with dining passes, so i'm just voicing my opinion. I am at the park just about every weekend. 1: Renovate the restaurants inside the park. Everyone of them needs updating and making more modern and efficient. First impression means everything! 2: Make the dining pass available to be used at all Six Flags parks, even if it does cost extra I would pay for it. 3: Create new menu items at the restaurants. 4: Make the dining pass hours just a little bit longer, or at least let the snack be used until park closes. 5: Have special Hurricane Harbor time on a weekend night, just for season pass holders. Like from 7pm-11pm? I absolutely love all those ideas. Having one night a week of having HH open till park closing would be great. Swimming in the dark is great. Due to financial constraints, I' ve let my membership expire and am seriously considering if we will renew or purchase season passes for next year. The park has really become "boring" for our family. All the restaurants need a freshening up including, seating, menu boards, furnishings, etc. Many more freestyle machines with ice loaded throughout the day.
  17. That's great, but the sode normally tastes horrible at most the free standing locations.
  18. Bumper Cars......100% Yeah definitely Bumper Cars all the way! I miss them! And I really miss that awesome old building they were housed in! Like I have said several times in the past, a amusement park without Bumper Cars is like a Burger Joint that doesn't sell French Fries. I understand the old Bumper Cars had to go but they need to be replaced. The same can be said for a Traditional Swings ride but I guess Sky Screamer fills that role Skyscreamer does not fill the role of "traditional" swings, there is a big difference in being 20-30 feet off the grou d compared to 150+ feet.
  19. There was a survery posted, but I dont think was specifically for SFSL, but it was for a coaster. Survey as in land surveying, not an online questionnaire to gain the public's opinion. but what questions are you going to ask the land?
  20. No flash passes need unless you want multiple ride on JLBFM. It seems to be having hour long waits when its open. You should be able to do everything and plenty of re- rides.
  21. Superman is has been down for a large chunk of this season.
  22. HWFan, just a couple quick questions about a day like Saturday. I understand if you necessarily can't answer specifics, but was just kinda curious how things worked. Was the crowd expected? If it was expected is there a "black out" for requesting the day off? If people were scheduled off, do they try to call in more staff or was it an all hands on deck situation? Sounds like everyone tried their best to make a difficult situation bearable. Also, any idea what is going on with the tube slides?
  23. I really wasn't going to talk about this visit, because all my others this year have been amazing .... Anyway lesson learned NEVER attend on a bring a friend free day. Thanks Theymitbgi for the reply. I thought there would be more posts about this because as I said, and you said, it was insane. Other than my youth when the park first opened and the trams were running to the far reaches of the parking lots, I have never seen anything like it. HWfan, did the park break any modern era attendance records on Saturday? sure looked like it. Mike I can't imagine attendance records were broken, I remember hearing stories of when they still had "real" conncerts, that the park got so busy it practically shut down the highway.
  24. I really wasn't goi g to talk about this visit, because all my others this year have been amazing, but definitely not this one. I should have known better than trying to go on a bring a friend free day. Anyway here's my quick recap. We arrived around 2:30 and could tell it was super busy by looking at the parking lots. 3-4 of the parking booths were open. We parked all the way in the "overflow" lot on the HH side of the lot. Security lines were all the way to the concrete pillars that seperate it from the parking lot. We did make it through security in about 10 minutes. Immediately after exiting security and bag check area, we were directed into another line for entry. This line kept moving but still took at least 30 minutes to get to the main gate. Once in the park we headed straight to Johnny Rockets to try and eat lunch, we were in line by about 3:15. It took almost an hour to place our order at whichtime the cashier said we couldn't use our dining passes, I explained to a supervisor we were in line well before 3:30 and with some register magic, we only paid for the upgrade portion. Trying to get a drink refill was quite a task also, after awhile an employee stepped to the side of the counter to help guests with refills only. Anyway after eating, we decided we were going to leave and not try to fight the crowds. We went to get our threee bags of cottton candy, which seem to be getting progressively smaller, so small we took all three bags and combined them into one bag. We walked by JL:BFM just to see the line and surprisingly it was only at the 75 minute point. We headed immediately for the exit and were on our way home by 5 pm. I' m not sure if the park was understaffed or just poor staff. This was by far the busiest I've seen the park, including FF and Jesus concerts. Also on the way in the daily update board showed Hurricane Bay and the tube slides were both closed for the day. I assume Hurrice Bay was closed due to a pump problem with all the rain, but the tube slides were closed our previous visit also. I can t imagine what to do int the waterpark with the wave pool and major slides closed. The waterpark was overflowing with people as the line was going all the way to the main entry plaza. Anyway lesson learned NEVER attend on a bring a friend free day.
  25. Thank you for the absolutely amazing then and now pictures, I had to share them with the whole family. Did panda express used to be McDonalds? If not, where was McDonald's?
