  1. RKO, I also have the membership with the dining option and contacted customer service, they said it is automatically upgraded to the deluxe pass.
  2. HWFan, are times posted on when you can use your dining pass? Will the snack be allowed at any time duringq the day? It seems like the hours change based on park hours and we're never quite sure exact times.
  3. I was just kind of thinking is it a good thing or a bad ting that the same/similar ride is being installed at two parks at once. I would assume there is one main team/person involved in troubleshooting various elements of the ride. Do you think one park's ride will be open before the other? I would guess one ride would be ready before the other but both would open on the same day as not to spoil the "surprises".
  4. Fair coasters shouldn't count, only GOOD ones..
  5. Free Ice Cream and Cotton candy all year? I can feel the weight piling on.. It will be nice to get a snack or take a bag of cotton candy home...
  6. Who knows, maybe it will remain a secret till the ride's opening day. wouldn't that be one of the best ways to do it? Don't actually advertise and have it be a jaw-dropping, OMG! moment that you HAVE to see.
  7. I think the biggest thing is we don't know what their timeline is. I think we could have had a miracle and been ready opening-not likley. It's possible that we're looking at a memorial weekend opening-still doubt it. In reality probably the mid/late June opening as in years past. So they are probably on schedule, THEIR schedule.
  8. Wouldn't a blindfold violate a loose article policy?
  9. The vast majority of the HW thread posts are surrounding the build-up of hints & speculation around Thunderbird and some of the other big rides like Voyage. The hints and way HW announces their additions are the main cause of the page count. So basically, HW marketing > SFStl marketing. so if the how many pages of comments a park has holds true, SFSL is better than the Magic Kingdom? Let's keep using that logic!
  10. 50 degrees is too high! B:TR at SFSL operates at well below that temp. I'm not saying 30 is good, but 50 isn't the number.
  11. Randall Duell designed the park as a wheel so guests can work their way around it and have the ability to take a mode of transportation to skip over the massive loop you would need to walk. Back in the 70's and 80's the park had the railroad and two skyrides making an "X" over the park. While one didn't act as a mode of transportation, it was supposed to once the Southwest Territory was built (but that didn't happen until many years after that skyride was removed). Having visited last year, it was annoying going from V2 over to around Demon but the railroad being closed didn't help either. This was my biggest complaint about SFGAM! If they could just add a path in the middle that would cut the giant loop in half, it would be helpful.
  12. I thought I had read somewhere that the whole queue would be enclosed. Wonder if they are adding more covered area or is the ride just using a smaller section of the old building?
  13. Simplest answer is, it all depends on the weather! If it's cloudy and cool, park will be dead, sunny and warm, the park can get pretty busy. The biggest thing is that the waterpark isn't open yet and everyone is in the regular park.
  14. Just to give something to talk about, what were everyone's thoughts on Tsunami Soaker this year? Was it fun? Will it help draw in crowds? Did it help re-vitalize the area it was in? Any other thoughts? My opinion is it was nice to get rid of the old Hannibarrels, but this was not the right ride for the location. It should have been a shared waterpark ride. It was really fun to ride, but my arm gottired 2/3 of the way throughthe cycle and you get so wetthat a re- ridelater in the day is unlikely. I never noticed the ride with more than a one cycle wait, which I would assume will only decrease in coming years, leaving it almost completely empty. We will have a ride that replaced Hannibarrels sitting empty due to ridership, not too mention late opening and early closing due to seasonal weather. I think SF corporate should have spent a little more effort in trying to find something to fit that area better. Don't forget about the fishing/ harbor theme to it, in a wild west area.
  15. Isn't it unfair to group Disney and Comcast in as theme park stocks? I would think very little of their overall revenue is generated from the parks.
  16. Glad I could bring back some good memores for you, but all I did was find it on Youtube. You may want to try and contact whoever made the video and see if they might be able to copy some of the photos you were interested in and send them your way.
  17. I've never heard anything about not posting youtube links, but there is a youtube video imbedding tool at the top when you post. I'm not sure when the uniforms disappeared, but yes, each area had their own uniforms that were laundered at the park itself in the huge wardrobe building (to the left of the train as you exit the maintenance shed). I do know that the park spent $600,000 per year on the costumes alone, which was the main factor leading to their replacement. Just to add to what SFZIP said, Dave Roemer actually mentioned it the other day. He said that they would use a lot of fog in the plaza, and there were mirrors placed on top of the buildings in the area. Although the lasers came from that central location, they would reflect off the mirrors making it look like they were coming from all over. The fog only helped with making the lasers very visible. Thanks for the info, from the video I saw it looked like a pretty good show for its time. Hopefully I post these links right and if I'm doing anything wrong, please let me know. Here is the link to the Batman nights video: 40th anniversary video link with lots of old photos Another video taken from 8mm film, not that grat, but some of the only older video I could find:
  18. Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Please keep us updated! Were all the switchbacks being used also? I doubt it as that would make like a three hour wait.
  19. Not sure if anyone has ever done this, but the other day I searched "Six Flags Over Mid America" on youtube and found some very interesting videos including one that was an almost 18 minute slide show from a 40th anniversary employee reunion. It had some really cool pictures in it. Also found a Batman Nights video which was supposed to be from our park. We're not allowed to post youtube links? Right? This brings up a couple questions for me: When did the themed uniforms disappear? It looked like each themed area had separate uniforms. Where was the screen for the Batman Nights production located? I couldn't make it out being dark and all.
  20. The roof over the stage in the Palace had been leaking for a couple years now.
  21. I'm not sure if the google earth picture of the land the park owns is anywhere on this thread, but if you can find it, it is cut off in most of it by a thin strip that is an industrial area. I wonder if they could extend the utilities from this area for the park use rather than try to connect into the park's current utilities.
  22. They could always put a coaster over the parking lot
  23. It seems to always be the subjec Simple answer, for the 15-18 million dollar price the RMC job would cost on the ENTIRE length of the Boss, the park could build a really good steel coaster and have an additional coaster in the park. It makes sense to me. I still think the ride is quite marketable to the GP,and reprofiling, new trains, etc. would still only cost a fraction of a complete RMC makeover. I do agree they need to figure out how to keep the train moving in colder weather.
  24. Can we please drop the RMC treatment for the Boss? It is NOT going to happen, numerous people including myself have asked Dave about it, and he says it just does not make financial sense.
  25. This all looks so amazing. Just so un-six flags like if you know what I mean. Hopefully we keep getting more construction updates and info.
