  1. sadly the sun only came out at the end of the day, probably the most interesting shot I took tayto
  2. This was a really fun trip, ryanair is based out of dublin so it would not surprise me if other people in europe can get a cheap flight there. I have to agree the staff were all very friendly and chatty, moreso than most parks I've been to. The drive from the airport is pretty simple if you have a sat nav and the coaster itself is well worth the trip. Best seat is at the back, theres only one nasty jolt on the overbank but the rest of the ride is so much fun.
  3. TPR is there today filming and i'm sure will post an update shortly with a comment on the ride and possibly some of that footage so just hang tight. I myself will be there on the 17th to ride it. Can't wait for that! looking at other POVs on youtube it looks pretty good, I'm going to be there on the 17th too as a day trip from manchester
  4. I've been having a look at the parks website and there seems to be even more listed for 2015 first theres this , rollercoaster egipt the layout looks like it would be a spinning coaster but as a separate listing they also have rollercoaster - mexico "Another roller coaster which will find its place at EnergyLandia in 2015 is the crazy and unpredictable SOMBRERO Mega Spinning Coaster, which is much larger than its cousin, the Viking. The track trajectory and greater acceleration will be the characteristic features of that ride. A trip on that roller coaster will be extremely exciting, since its carriages can turn around at 360˚ to the left or to the right." that would mean the park would have 3 spinning coasters?? It seems a bit odd unless the concept art is very inaccurate also listed is Rollercoaster - Formula one (again stated to open in 2015) : "In 2015 one of the fastest roller coasters in Europe will be recreated. Formula 1 is a challenge for the most courageous. The extremely long track, the speed reaching 100 km/h and the uncountable loops and slopes will make it one of the most exciting rides in your life! The most similar roller coaster called the Blue Fire is located at Europa Park." The word "recreated" makes me think it may be a blue fire clone and the top speed would be in fitting with that, however looking at the park map there is what appears to be a formula 1 themed coaster with a layout that looks nothing like blue fire, even if it's heavily stylised. Also the map shows the SLC, junoir SLC and family coaster but theres no sign of the egipt or mexico coasters, only the formula 1 one.
  5. http://www.coast2coaster.eu/ is incredibly useful for getting an idea of the space between parks and making sure you don't miss any good coasters you happen to be nearby I generally use a bit of paper for initial planning to jot opening times etc but use tripit to keep things organised once I've booked everything. skyscanner and kayak are what I use to find flights Trivago is usually what I use for hotels but I also check hotwire and priceline for any especially good deals
  6. a selfie stick has a knob on the end
  7. Thanks for the tips - looking forward to the trip!
  8. thanks, so it looks like a season pass makes more sense than 2 days plus parking. I'll be visiting on monday/tuesday 20-21 april. any ideas as to what queues will be like? Does the 72€ give you fastrack for the whole season or is it just one day only? trying to decide between the 62€ and 72€ pass. also does being a passholder offer any benefits for other merlin attractions?
  9. I'll be visiting in a couple of weeks for 2 days, does anyone know how much parking is? I'm trying to decide what ticket would be best
  10. a selfie stick has a knob on the end.
  11. interesting, I'm actually doing a trip to orlando in a few weeks (11th-21st march) and will be hitting up all the parks. If anyone fancies a meet up then that could be fun
  12. Dvergbanen at Tusenfyrd is 2.5m high and 26m long i think
  13. I saw the same rumours and really reckon they're just wishful thinking as there was no source or any hard evidece. I'd love an RMC woodie at alton, maybe even boulder dash style, but do think it's unlikely. I did speculate at a launched woodie for Thorpe Park when they announced their angry birds land as that would seem like a good theme. What I'd really like is for them to put iron horse track on the Blackpool big one and give it a full reprofiling. if they can do it to wood they can do it to steel...
  14. 360ft is what I've read as a couple of rumours which would make it just under 110m. There is a Ferrari 360 which I guess could tie in to the numbers. It could be possible that the top hat is trimmed at the top so the launch speed could still be higher than TTD as they are not seeking a world height record and higher speed would make rollbacks less likely and allow operating in stronger winds
  15. Have there been any discussions for coasters in the uk or europe, other than Kolmarden? (We're dying for some RMC awesomeness in the uk) Like · Reply · 1 hr · Edited Rocky Mountain Construction Yes!!! Unlike · 4 · 51 mins interesting.........
  16. I rode Goudurix near the start of the season and honestly I didnt think it was that bad, I've been on much rougher vekoma coasters and this has a more interesting layout than most. Maybe some of the retracking workd?
  17. Ive been to both phantasialand's wintertraum and PortAventuras Christmas event. Actually this is the only time of year that I've visited either of the parks and I had a great time at both. Phantasialand is beautifully decorated with lights, trees and snow, plus it has an ice bar and gluhwein when taking a break from the coastering. Winter is a great time to visit PortAventura too as when I've been there's been virtually no queues, the live shows were god too, however the constant christmas/navidal music throughout the park can get quite irritating. Overall I would say of the 2 that I preferred the christmassyness of Phantasialand.
  18. personally i'd love it if the big one got the RMC Iron horse treatment, but sadly I think I'll just have to keep on dreaming....
  19. looks like they're starting to tease something for next year
  20. coaster express should be burnt to a crisp and never spoken of again
  21. Got a good deal on a hotel in Stamford, will get up early to get to SFGAdv in good time! I'm mostly going to ride coasters but may take in some of the halloween haunted attractions too if they're any good. One of the main things I'm wondering is if the six flags halloween extras are worth it? are they significantly different from one another or mostly the same. I've already decided to do lake compounce's haunted graveyard as it sounds pretty interesting as a 45 min long maze, but I haven't decided on the other parks yet, will probably do cedar point's ones if the queues aren't that bad. I'm also wondering about fast lane/flash passes. which parks will they be required for? now that the halloween stuff is open in cedar point do crowds move towards them or are coasters always busy? I was already thinking of getting fast lane plus for the saturday at cedar point as it seems better value than the friday, though I may try my luck at plinko or the tweetup thing I've heard about.
  22. I still think that alpina blitz is needing a bigger mention here
  23. the only other B&M wing coasters I've ridden are gatekeeper and the swarm. With a full train and after it's warmed up, Flug is still a nice coaster, and has much better pacing. Not sure how accurate the POVs are as if its an empty train then it crawls through the course. I stayed at the hotel and saw it testing with an empty train first thing in the morning and it was incredibly close to stalling in the inversions. With a full load it runs much better compared to the other 2 wing coasters I've been on, It's probably my favourite looking wing coaster and has the best bit of airtime after the first drop. It is really nicely themed and very photogenic.
