Six Flags [FUN] Corporate Discussion Thread

Interesting that Six Flags is buying back some of the parks that Shapiro said, "had no business being in the Six Flags portfolio". Oh how different people view things differently. -

Do we think Premier will move corporate headquarters out of Oklahoma City as a result of this? -

Now the question is, do we think they would ever attempt Holiday in the Park at Darien Lake? They would be insane but six flags has surprised us before. -

Whatever you do don’t ever get a cheeseburger at a Cedar Fair Park. I have struck out every time I tried. -

Is it just me or does picking a one train rollercoaster an odd choice for a park that is open 365? With most year round parks they can keep the ride open while they work on one train as they can use the second one. Ex. All coasters at seaworld Orlando have three trains. -

Last season as you walked over the bridge they had banners that advertised free holiday in the park with the text “at Six Flags Great Adventure and New England” written very small underneath. -

The “Seaworld Rehab” is what the frequently seem to do with the Skyride but there never appears to be anyone actually working on it. -

I don’t comprehend? Can you break it down for me? Longer line= more flash pass= more money. Screw guest experience, stockholders could care less about that. -

Also if you like birds Busch Gardens has some nice aviaries. The animal care center is a pretty neat place to check out too and it is well air conditioned which is a plus if it is a hot day. -
Yes, it was awful that Dawn died in that accident but people are acting like everyone that ever worked with a trained, domesticated Killer Whale was in great danger. If only the public was as outraged about the mass number of automobile fatalities in this country and world as they are about these particular 21 whales then maybe society could actually get somewhere and advance. After all, trainers made a choice to get in the water with these whales that they loved, the public does not have a choice but to drive an automobile.

Once again the Busch parks are taking the heat for SeaWorld’s woes. You don’t see anything at a Seaworld branded park SBNO. -
I know I’m gonna get a lot of hate for this but if you want quality experience go to Disneyland. If you want crazy fast rides and a lot of them go to Magic Mountain. Additionally I’m sure they would be willing to give you the same level of quality if they charged the same amount for annual passes as Disneyland. It is one of the best applications of the phrase “you get what you pay for.” I do think the premium level memberships are a step in the right direction though to offer a better experience for those that are willing to pay more without driving away or crowding out the value-oriented guests.

If I recall correctly isn’t this one of the very few Vekoma woodies ever made? That makes for an interesting conversion in and of itsself. -

Is SeaWorld discontinuing the Pass Member Dining Plan for 2018? I have not seen anything on the website yet. If so I don’t blame them. I can’t imagine they made much money on it. -

^ I think the idea was to get it to blend in with the sky as much as possible. People that have nice waterfront homes don't want to see a giant red rollercoaster for example. -

^Alright, where are all our rich Folks on TPR? I would imagine a water slide like this would be much cheaper than a roller coaster. What would be difficult would be transportation and legal stipulations. -

^In it's defense that corner of the park has always had issues with guest flow. That is part of the reason Six Flags chose to close that section in 2007 as it was the area with the least guest flow. The openining of the path by eye of the storm and the new crosswalk across the road have helped in that department though. If Storm Chaser were located where Lightning Run or T3 is it would draw much larger crowds. Also keep in mind that Storm Chaser is the highest capacity ride in the park in a historically dead area of the park, not a good recipie for long lines. Also of note, according to the website season passes will not go on sale for next year until November 1st. I thought this was interesting as they have always been avalaible starting in September every other year. -
It is quite sad. Part of me wishes we could just go back to when WWoHP first opened when Hogsmeade, dragons, and Jaws all coexisted peacefully. The amount of Potter in my opinion is becoming a bit overkill now and I'm not even sure if I believe this will be the last expansion to the area. It will probably take over dragons now and take over Fear Factor later as was discussed. As nice as Diagon is I'm still not sure if I like it better then the cheesy fun of Jaws and the excitement of getting a unique ride each time with a different skipper. I'm just crossing my fingers that ET will be deemed an eternal, always-relevant classic, though it would not surprise me if they decide to axe that too if they ever update/remove the kiddie area.

I think the reason we all are so disappointed by this decision is because I believe, and I know that there are exceptions, that most people on these forums are roller coaster enthusiasts first and theme park enthusiasts second. I would imagine that people that are more into immersive theme parks are not as upset that Universal is taking out a light/moderately themed rollercoaster that flips you upside-down a bunch of times that really is not too different than what you can experience at your local Six Flags park. I think unfortunately for us this is Universal confirming to us something that we already knew, Disney and Universal did not become arguably the most successful theme parks around by building exposed high-thrill rollercoasters. The big jump at Universal came from Potter. Compare the current ride lineups at Disney/Universal vs. a regional park and it is clear to see why they made the decision they did.

I used to be on team, "too many D.C. Comics named rides", but if the name is either Joker, Harley Quin, Wonder Woman or Crazanity, all I can say is keep the D.C. Names coming. -
