Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread

I wonder if they would keep pay one price entrance or bring back pay per ride with wristband option. A large number of complaints from park goers in the final years was that they can no longer go to the park to walk around and buy food ($2.50 entrance fee). This ultimately drove out the legendary taco stand to a new out-of-park location. -

Source? https://www.wlwt.com/article/beach-waterpark-for-sale-in-mason/29789220 Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you are not selling passes by late February, its just not gonna happen people. With 0 passes already sold the numbers would be so abysmal it would be hard to operate this summer even if they wanted to. -

I swear if this becomes rich people waterfront housing and Apex makes bank on their way out the door, I am going to flip my sh*t. Al Weber had true passion for running parks, since his passing I think that all changed. -

Also, the Beach water park in Cincinatti, OH will not be opening next season. That makes a total of 4 parks/ water parks that will not be returning next year. -

^ Clementon Park was fully owned and operated by Premier Parks, not Apex. Also this park had demographic trends working against it too. It's in the middle of nowhere and people are leaving the countryside for cities. Look at population growth/ migration statistics. Unless they could start to significantly draw from Indianapolis or Chicago, they were doomed. Chicagoans went to Six Flags, Indy people probably went to Kings Island, Kentucky Kingdom, or Holiday World. Holiday World is in the middle of nowhere too, but they advertise in Louisville, Nashville, Indianapolis, St. Louis, etc... I have never once seen a single advertisement for Indiana Beach in Louisville. -

Well, I guess my suspicions about no longer selling season passes was correct. I wonder if this means the end for Fantasy Island too. Also we lost Clementon Park as well, small to mid size parks aren’t doing too well as of late. You’d think the best economy in recorded history would help them, but maybe because of it people are deciding to plan bigger vacations to Orlando etc instead. -

T3 is quickly becoming pink again . Perfect for valentines day. Maybe next time when it gets a repaint they should go with a darker red so it lasts a little longer. -

NEWS: Toshimaen to close in phases in 2020

If you look at the reasons behind this it is quite interesting. Japan is one of the very best countries in the world for gender equity. Even more so than the rest of the developed world, women are choosing to take higher lines of work and subsequently choosing to have less children. The Japanese government has even been trying to essentially give tax incentives to people to have kids, but nothing has really been working. Japan does not have high immigration rates (of which first generation immigrants are statistically more likely to have more children) like the US, so the population is shrinking and aging. Schools and amusement parks are already becoming the first victims of this phenomenon, of which there are sure to be more. -

So.. not to cause a big scare, but 2020 season passes and day tickets are not able to be purchased on the website now. Passes were available before the holidays, but not anymore. Best case scenario this is a peculiar inconvenience and worse case scenario this is very concerning. Edit: And according to the website for Martins Fantasy Island, 2020 season passes have "sold out", I have never ever ever heard of that in the amusement industry, usually the objective is to sell as many as possible as park capacity is not a precious commodity. Again, either very suspicious or I am very skeptical of how this (not selling season passes online a few months before the park opens) could be beneficial to profitably run an amusement park. -

Although I would say it is probably in the top 5 most popular rides in the park IMO. It’s thrilling but still relatively family friendly. I think it would be worth the investment and still build a new one too if possible! -

It seems like the whole magnets thing that proslide tried out sounded cool, but turned out to be unnecessarily complicated and technologically unreliable when a simple water blaster seems to work fine. The new ones they have built like thunder rapids at SFFT and the new cheetah chase don’t use the magnets I believe. -
The Great Escape (TGE) Discussion Thread

As coaster enthusiasts we should do our fellow enthusiasts with Great Escape as their home park a solid and just agree to not scream on any of the rides there. Maybe those idiots are the reason it has been more than 15 years since the park got a new coaster. Actually, maybe we should just scream extra loud instead so they will move voluntarily. -

^ you aren’t forced to ride it anymore. They now have a walk-through only line at the entrance. I think a lot of people are first time riders though and don’t know that the attraction isn’t worth the wait. -

Am I surprised, not at all. Do I think the final remaining international agreement park in Saudi Arabia will ever end up getting built either, not a chance. Also, as far as the domestic performance, it's kind of funny. You'd almost think charging me $3.99 for my monthly membership to 30 parks, but $6 for a bottle of water to someone who spends more than I do for the entire year to buy a one day ticket is bad business practice or something, who would have thought! -

Orca Encounter has officially replaced One Ocean on the daily show schedule beginning on January 1. -
Well so far at least it looks like Seaworld is keeping its corporate promise to phase out theatrical orca shows by the end of 2019. At San Antionio there are only killer whales up close presentations scheduled for January 1 2020 as opposed to Shamu Christmas miracles on December 31. Whether you support this decision or not, it is good to see companies actually following through on things that they promise the consumer.

I just hope Halloscream is back for 2020. I haven’t seen anything about it yet. It should be the type of event that gets more popular as more people hear about it. Some of those sunday nights were absolutely dead though. Hope attendance doesn’t take too much of a hit with the big shiny new coaster up the street. I still think they have their eyes set on passing the 1million mark which they were doing in the late 90’s but haven’t quite gotten up to yet since reopening. Fortunately, the park has a robust economy working in their favor this time around which was certainly not the case pre-closure under Six. -
