Hopefully they change it up from sideshow spin if hate to see two nearly identical rides even if one was themed a little better ha-ha.. and sideshow spin is great in the fair area, it has that fair coaster feel to it Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Targets would work! Rumor has it, a dark ride might go in behind the old mine sometime and they have had a sign up all season that says "it all started here" it would be a good location for a redo of the flooded mine with targets but if they do build a new dark ride in the future, I'd imagine it being something else but who knows! With today's announcement, I'm curious if we will get something big in 2018 or if they will push it back further.. I'd bet money that our next huge attraction will be a dark ride.. the question is just when Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

I can't remember, I was little when we had flooded mine and mostly thought it was real so never liked riding it lol.. but I did hear rumor a few years ago about a new flooded mine ride.. it would be a cool shootout but I'm sure Dollywood has something against shooting at people.. The survey was shooting at chickens or something but I find that cheesy.. who knows if we will ever get one and what it'll be of Unfortunately Dollywood can't do superheroes like six flags or buzz lightyear like Disney.. stuff that's far enough from real that it doesn't matter what you shoot at Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

I'm finding it funny how many people on Facebook are like "haven't you built this already and it broke" talking about Timber tower.. they have no clue this is different Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

And they have a good video on Facebook of one in Action! https://www.facebook.com/RideEntertainment/ Looks like an awesome drop tower! (This one is over 300ft tall though) I am all for the lighting package on this. I think all funtime rides have a great lighting package! Now that they are dealing with funtime, anyone think we will ever get a giant swing? Maybe that's why they are taking the swing apart in the fair area! Ha-ha jk but would be nice Now the only question is, will Dollywood request them to remove the lighting package due to the theming of the area? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

That would look and fit the theme of the area perfectly if that's what they go with.. also a nice gentle ride for adults even.. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

A lot of us have suspected sensors and computers to be the issue for a while now, no proof of that but I feel it's a fair assumption. and I really do bet that is going to be the spot.. it's already developed for it and in the concept art, you can see the pond from Timber Tower.. They might build a new location for it, but they have been saving that structure and line for something ha-ha Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

That's what I said a few pages back but I believe they are just playing it safe with the LR delay they experienced this year and we might still see a spring opening, at least for the drop tower. I don't know why the drop tower couldn't be be finished by Spring. Funtime claims they can be installed in as short of a time as 8 hours and the area is already prepared for it.. I know a permanent install will take longer but I'd imagine not much longer.. Just my theory though. (Unless they are pulling a six flags and want these rides to open in the summer to bring in a small summer rush) Dollywood is known to try and have stuff finished by opening and if the coaster is Steel, this is about the time we started seeing progress start on fire chaser a few years ago (aside from taking down the old attraction).. I'd imagine this coaster might be smaller so I feel they have time to open by Spring.. If it's wood, they will have to move fast but I still feel they have time. I'd imagine it isn't a huge coaster. Same here.. my GF and I go all the time to just walk around and enjoy the festival's, especially in the evening after work.. I have been excited about October since the schedule released with extended hours October, we don't get to go as often due to them closing early and me not being off until 5 or 6.. now we can go again Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

RCDB has it listed as Steel. Im interested to see this to I am assuming they are just guessing, because Dollywood has surprised everyone with this.. If they do put it around Thunderhead and it's steel, it will look out of place I feel but who knows.. If its a woodie, I am sure we will see progress starting on it soon or it'll be late -

It does look like the new funtime skyfall system style tower based on the photo of the cart (Except for the different restraint system).. If so, it shouldn't take long to build and these towers are designed for small areas such as the old timber tower area.. but those are designed to be more of a mobile drop tower aren't they? I love the funtime swings like skyscreamer -

I'd imagine between the two rides, they are putting a lot of capital into this! Especially with the slides at splash country.. wonder how much they are spending?? And wonder if we will still see a major attraction such as a dark ride or something in 2018 now? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

I was so excited I didn't even read the festival's! Looks like they will have Halloween Lights of some kind with pumpkins.. that explains the extended hours Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

It doesn't say anything about being wood but saying it will help prepare for Thunderhead makes me think it might be.. No concept art for the coaster yet drop tower I can see the old pond from timber Tower and it looks like a fully round tower so a good capacity tower.. no floor in it! I have suspected there would be a drop tower for a long time but never imagined it would be a full sized one Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

The whistle chaser has me intrigued.. "to help young loggers prepare for Thunderhead".. it might be located in Timber Canyon as well.. and I wonder if it'll be a wood junior coaster? Is their a such thing? I'm glad it's a full sized drop tower though!! I'm not a fan of the small towers even though I am so scared of heights ha-ha Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

It's a drop tower, check your email, I just got the email..it's 200 ft tower so full sized and not family sized!! Drop tower is in Timber canyon so I'd imagine in old timber towers spot.. I guess even a 200ft tower could be a family tower though but when I think of 200ft I think most kids would be scared Also a junior coaster as well, I'd imagine the coaster is why they are making space in the fair area Wow very surprised announcements! I wouldn't expect a drop tower in the country Fair area.. they need flats outside of that area so unless they plan to announce a renovation of the area I feel a drop tower will be placed elsewhere. They are saving timber towers area for something, why else keep the line in tact? About the only thing that will fit there is a smaller flat or a drop tower or something Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Not necessarily, Dollywoods known to announce their festivals this time of year, and it wouldn't be just for October.. it'll be all festivals and shows for the entire season so saying its for 2017 wouldn't be wrong.. They just released their operating schedule a week or so ago and it has big changes on it so this could be the next step.. I'm hoping for a ride, it's just very out of characteristic for Dollywood to build a ride when Splash Country is getting a new attraction (going back to the HFE comments about them being cheap right before this post) and to announce one this late.. That doesn't mean it isn't a ride though! Another strange thing, if it is a ride, is no in park teasers aside from the "it all started here" sign in the old mine.. that might not even be a teaser for anything. The words "Drop In" still have me intrigued.. Dollywood always uses sayings to hint at new rides.. I really think the announcement won't be about a ride due to it being so late in the season but still I don't see how "Drop In" has to do with a festival or anything.. pretty excited, going to be a long night lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
