Exactly, ride ops, maintenance guys, and a few other people have said the launch works beautifully.. Again, these aren't official statements or press releases but they are from inside the park so the launch might not actually be causing any of the issues Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Having eaten at the Big Skillet (both sides) multiple times with my wife and kids, plus never hearing another similar report, I'm inclined to think it's something else. To go with that my wife and daughter were there for Dolly's concert last week (Tues and Wed) The both were sick after, ended up being respiratory infections when they got checked Sun. And their traveling companion picked up strep. I agree, I'd say it's not good poisoning, now I will say that my stomach does get a little tore up everytime i eat Dollywood BUY Dollywood is the only place I eat greasier food at.. Now I'm not talking puking my guts out sick.. I'm talking, overeating and not used to grease blah feeling is all.. I normally get this feeling everytime i travel just due to eating out more than normal I'd never associate it with food poisoning Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Early April, it's really a toss up if you want a time saver or not.. I have been there in early April and a TON of schools are there... This really creates decent lines for rides.. but I have also been there and only a few schools so everything was manageable.. I do find it to always be busier during the week in March and April than it is during the weeks in the fall even though schools are in session both times.. i think it has to do with young couples ready to get out and spend some time outside early spring so the go to Dollywood.. I notice more young couples at Dollywood early spring.. Plus you have the field trips.. early fall it's mostly older people for shows.. young couples (like me) seem to go for both.. Schools and Teens go mostly for rides it seems.. So my suggestion is not to buy it up front but to buy it if you see you will need it.. it's really a toss up Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Would have probably been fine today, I'm in Gatlinburg right now and it's still in the lower 40s so id imagine all of the rides stayed open at Dollywood.. was in the 50s most of the day when sun was out.. I was in shorts, flip-flops earlier today.. now I have a hoodie but still in shorts and am fine. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Also, be sure to check the Mill for cinnamon bread before they close about an hour or so before they close to be exact.. especially this time of year, they miss judge how much to make.. I have already got buy one get one free Cinnamon bread once this Christmas season before close! Also for buy one get one free muffins at the bakery!! Just a tip lol.. again this usually starts about and hour before close, sometimes two hours if it is really dead ha-ha.. The buy one get one free on muffins was actually about 7 o'clock on a day they closed at 9! Good deals for delicious food and make a good breakfasts lol Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Yup LR has paid lockers (one fee you can use all lockers in the park) underneath it beside the bathrooms.. I have never needed a pay locker though.. just take a backpack so you can keep your valuables out of site and place in the free bins. I have kept a $1000 camera in a bag before (not a camera case but regular backpack) without any issues.. Edit: (Also, I hope that the admins of this forum know how confusing inside jokes are when it comes to the forums sensors and new members and lurkers who just come here for information and never post.. just saying, I know most of us here get the jokes but they are super confusing to those who are new) Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

Yup this is the average temp they close, but don't take this as fact! I have seen coasters run down into the lower thirties before but I have also seen them close around 40.. I have also seen them close the lines early if they are long and it is on the verge of being the closing temp and continue to run until the line is emptied out.. I have also seen them say "it's now to cold to run the coaster" and just close it and run everyone off.. Also, keep in mind that just because your phone says 42, it might not necessarily be that temp at Dollywood. They have weather stations scattered around that give them their official readings. I love visiting this time of year and do it a lot, sometimes several times a week because they are open later and it's easy for me to do after work Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

They are calling for snow in the higher elevations of the Smokies this weekend.. if night rides are a must for you, it will be iffy.. I'm sure coasters will be running during the daylight hours so just grab them first.. and it's gotta be a little higher than freezing for them to run the coasters, usually at least in the low 40s Both days show it in the 40s until at least 9:00 so you never know really Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -
On slow days they always close their smaller lot for parking, at least when I am there, I always park in the smaller lot and never need a tram. Glad to see the train is fully built now! I posted I'm early October about the train in the station being "naked" for a lack of better words.. looks like they do plan on addressing Superman Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

I was under the impression they only moved it to help prepare the area for LR but idk now ha-ha.. I'm sure it'll be back at the lake next year, unless they find yet another new place for it. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

That would also explain why they saw a maintenance guy walking down the hillside.. I'm sure if someone get hit by something they walk the track just incase a branch is laying low or something else might have possibly hit the rider.. I firmly believe you might be correct Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

They do this with most of their coasters or rides at that and usually don't close the ride line for it aside from saying they are doing their safety check and run the train empty.. They let everyone stay in line for the safety check normally and it only last for a few minutes.. If they say it's closed for a tune-up, they usually empty the line and it's down for more than a few minutes.. Sometimes they might let you stay but if a ride is closed for more than 10 or 15 minutes it's usually not a safety check (but you never know with LR, they might do more of a complete check) Good news is, if it closes for a tune-up and they close the ride completely for a few minutes they will usually count this as the safety check they do every few hours, at least in my experience. Also, sometimes they don't even close the rides.. I was on Blazing Fury earlier in the season on a very slow day.. Me and my GF were the only two in the station and the guy on the controls told another op to hop on. he said "hop on, it'll be our safety check, we are dead anyways, then you can take your 15" (I assume he ment his state required 15 min break) he hopped in the front, we were in the back. Never closed for the safety check, he just rode it with us.. Someone else mentioned earlier on this thread that the same thing happened to him on LR were an op rode beside him because he was a single rider.. when he asked why, they said they ride every few hours as a safety check. Several Dollywood folks have said the launch is fine, maybe they all mean the launch hardware and not software? Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

The pothole feeling was there right before they closed the ride this last time.. it was down for about a month this last closure. He never said where they were at on their list of items they intended on working on.. So I personally don't find it very odd at all, I can't recall the post but I don't even know if the maintenance guy mentioned that he was working directly on the ride himself or if he was just a Dollywood maintenance worker. When he posted what he posted, they may have been further down the list than he thought. If I recall, he didn't even say the ride would necessarily be open when it did anyways. It was a very pretty week that the park closed during.. they could have got a lot of work done that week without any rain and being such a mild week in the mountains.. mid 70s and all Also, if the issues were with the launch PLC (like Irvine Engineering kind of hinted at saying it wasn't their ride control PLC that was having the issues) Dollywood maintenance might have had time doing other items on their list while the PLC provider for the launch was on site working All these are theories but I don't find it odd that they were able to knock out a lot of their issue list last week Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

No, he just said it wasn't high on their priority list. Remember, the park was closed for a week.. they really didn't have to much to do to get ready for the Christmas celebration (most lights had already been put up).. So they probably just knocked out a lot of maintenance issues while closed.. He actually said they did plan on addressing it, it was just further down their list. Yes, and you likely won't see the drop tower being installed at all until they close.. they have the large Christmas tree light show in its spot for now.. Not sure how long it takes to install that tree and take it down.. I do know they started putting it up late Sept early Oct so ultimately it might take a while I'm sure not that long though.. Plus they may have work to do on the water effects, pond, and platform after the tree goes down.. half the season, the pond was empty (it has water now) so it might be having some issues that they need to work on if they plan to keep it (concept art shows the pond).. I'm sure the control office and line will remain the same fr timber tower, it all looks in great shape as far as I can tell so that should speed up the process a little. It's already basically themed with basic theming which is all you need for a flat like the drop tower. I'm sure they are playing it safe as well so "summer 2017" is a safe date for them to give rather than March like they originally did for LR Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

This.. I know last year when I booked Disney for New Years, no hotels had anything listed on Hotels.com (my normal site BC of rewards) but Disney had plenty of rooms directly.. Same for six flags in Atlanta, rooms seem to disappear Wed or Thurs for that weekend fr hotels.com but the Wingate beside the park always has some when I call directly Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

I was there tonight, never got in line for LR but went to check on it... Got a few night rides in on Wild Eagle and saw the "It's a wonderful life" show.. will be back later this week probably, hopefully LR has a shorter line.. I wonder why they keep blocking off rows? I wonder if it's for the same reason fire chaser does it when it's wet outside?? Basically fire chaser does it because of the launch wheels slipping when it's wet but I wonder if LR does it for the tires that move the coaster around in the station and that move it out of the station to the launch? Just a theory Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

That's good news, first time they have ran both trains in a while.. kind of concerning they took this long to add the second train.. makes you wonder why they are so apprehensive to run two trains on it. I mean wait times look over an hour for most of the day.. other rides at the park would have been running all trains at about a 15 minute wait ha-ha Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk -

In my experience, if the lines for the rides and stuff don't back up then they won't extend the park hours.. They really only do that if the ride lines get really bad and people are missing rides, shows, and even food due to the lines.. But from the looks of it, rides are starting to back up so they may end up extending hours Everything has a fairly long wait except for poor thunderhead.. it is almost always a walk-on now days I even remember having to wait in line for it for 15+ minutes in the past Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
