  1. What a great addition, I definitely didn't see this one coming. The more modern Vekomas we can get in the US the better! Even if they're family boomerangs! Lots of Cedar Fair parks have quite outdated children/family coasters in their Snoopy areas. I would love this to become a trend in the chain.
  2. There have been some testing videos shared on social media over the last couple weeks, and some progress on the station and entrance walkway to the ride. I would be very surprised if it opens this season. Given it's already late July, I think 2024 is more likely. They begun work on this ride in early 2019 (maybe even fall 2018). People gave Disney a lot of crap for Tron taking so long but this isn't too far behind lol. I guess they're really spreading out the investment.
  3. Cool! I will be at the park on Thursday (first time since Dec 2019) and I remember absolutely loving Mr. Freeze backwards - still excited to try it forwards too. Has Aquaman been running reasonably consistently?
  4. Arctic Rescue at SWSD over July 4 weekend. It's a fun little family coaster with a surprisingly decent length to it.
  5. I agree, the park is kind of a mess right now. I understand some things are out of their control (I'm sure they want these rides open as much as we do), it's just frustrating as a visitor, especially with a lack of communication or any sense of transparency. The park already has such a low capacity for its attendance as it is, so these closures hit even harder. The Camp Snoopy closures have also struck me as odd given it's the middle of the busy summer season and Camp Snoopy is always PACKED with families constantly. Summer 2018 and 2019 were "peak Knott's" in my opinion, in its modern era. All rides open and reliable, expanded water park, HangTime, new BBQ restaurant, refurbished Rapids, it was such a great time to visit. I would even say the operations were quite decent on the multiple visits I had over both of those summers. None of it has felt the same post-COVID and especially since Monte and Xcel closed in early '22. Again, not all the park's fault, but regardless. Was just in SoCal for July 4th weekend and I didn't have any inclination to go to Knott's the way it is currently - we decided to go check out Arctic Rescue at SWSD and visit the SD Fair and SFMM instead. Admittedly the new Fiesta Village does look very nice though, and vastly improved, based on photos and reports from my family that live in the area and visit frequently. I will likely visit over the holiday season later this year. Fingers crossed Xcel is back open by then. I know Monte won't be, but some further details about what this transformation consists of and any type of status update would be cool to have. We still know so little about what they're doing to the ride.
  6. Very nerdy and random question, but does anyone know why Kingda Ka doesn't two rows in the last car? It's not like the ride ever had on-board audio or anything? Just curious.
  7. I greatly appreciate the transparency. Reminds me of Jeffrey over at SFFT and how transparent he is about things like this at that park. If only SFGAdv did the same for El Toro......
  8. Sounds great (and we're really getting spoiled aren't we?) but please, for the love of all that is holy, this height restriction better not be 54 inches if it's another B&M!
  9. And I can confirm that it is still open. I rode it this evening, but apparently it was closed most of the day today and I caught it just in time about an hour before closing. Luck of the draw at this point.
  10. Very excited to see what this turns out to be. To say USH needs a coaster like this is an understatement.
  11. It's funny because of all the California parks (or the west coast in general), SFMM definitely has the most available space and fewest restrictions/permitting roadblocks if they choose to add a giga. But we all know Six Flags is far less likely to purchase a giga than SeaWorld or Cedar Fair lol. If only...
  12. Those new Infinity Flyer trains looks very nice. The T-bar looks quite open and free, and no leg restraints or seat belts either. I'm a little surprised they are a Class V restraint that can do inversions. My friend and I will be visiting the park for the first time at the end of July. Can't wait!
  13. I know we all want a Giga (and I certainly wouldn't complain) but a modern family coaster with a low height restriction would be great. I'd love to see something from Vekoma like a SFC, family boomerang, etc.
  14. If true, this would be a wonderful addition to the park. I really can't think of a more appropriate and needed addition that fills the gap between Howler and the major 4. Fingers crossed!
  15. I was thinking the same thing. Even with 60-second dispatches, that's 720 PPH. Anyone know how many trains this coaster runs? I feel like the rollback/spike and switch track at the end of the ride would limit how quickly they could pump out trains versus something like Velocicoaster.
  16. SeaWorld is hosting a "VIP Ride Night" for pass holders this Thursday, June 1st, from 7pm to 10pm after the park closes at 6pm. Sounds like a cool opportunity to get lots of rides with minimal waits. The event page mentions Mako, Atlantis, and Pipeline being open. Unsure if that is the complete ride list or if Manta, Kraken, and/or Ice Breaker are also included. Regardless, it sounds like a fun event that I thought I would spread the word. I plan on stopping by and seeing what it's like.
  17. Not sure if Memorial Day is any more or less crowded, but I went on Labor Day weekend last year (Sunday) and I found it very manageable to do everything I wanted. Unfortunately Black Diamond was closed. I got there just after opening at hit Impulse first, then went right to Flying Turns (since at the time it had just barely reopened after a lot of downtime so I wanted to make sure I got on it). That line crawled but I eventually made it on. Like others have said, Phoenix and Twister eat people and have superb operations like a well oiled machine. Even a little line will move quickly and never be a problem. I didn't eat too much in the park, but what surprised me the most were the prices. I got a large slice of pizza and drink for $6.50. That's basically unheard of at any other park. Also don't miss StratosFear. It has a fantastic drop and some good views.
  18. Looks great. I am all for more indoor/weather-proof coasters. I really like the train colors. I can only think about the lines this will generate. Only 10 passenger trains and wide demographic...
  19. That zero G stall looks incredible. It truly flattens out and stalls unlike many others that just speed through.
  20. That must have been a recent change because they gave me a lanyard for Timesaver on April 21.
  21. You show your pass at the entrance of the ride. They will also stamp your hand, I presume so you don't need to show your pass every time. I only rode once so I cannot confirm but that seems to make sense why.
  22. Me too. I am still not quite convinced it will be to the magnitude many people are discussing (400+ foot spike), but nonetheless it is cool to see them take a risk and do something unique and different here. As much as I want Intamin to be involved, my gut tells me it is Zamperla since they are also overhauling the old hydraulic launch coaster from Italy to be installed at Playland PNE next year. And Zamperla advertised their new Lightning train to be on "some of the world's fastest attractions" soon. Taken with a grain of salt, but still. Whatever it is I hope it's at least reliable, if nothing else.
  23. I was able to quickly pop into SeaWorld for a ride on Pipeline and I was very impressed. When it was announced and under construction, I was never too hyped for it since I'm so-so about stand-ups (I really only like Riddler and Scorcher) so I was skeptical of bringing the concept back. I will say it is vastly improved with this design. The 2 across seating, vest restraints, and dampening do wonders for the ride experience. I love the open air trains and how you "jump" on the airtime hills. The train design really make a great ride that otherwise has a pretty bland and boring layout. Even after just a single ride, I can pretty confidently say it's my second favorite in the park behind Mako. I'll be back for more rides in a few weeks, hopefully once Mako reopens from refurbishment. I am also very happy to see B&M expand their horizons, particularly with this coaster and Mandrill Mayhem at Chessington. I think those are the two most unique B&Ms ever built and I love to see it. It's also worth noting that the area looks great. It was reminding me of HangTime's theming at Knott's - a very similar vibe (obviously). The color scheme is gorgeous and the kinetics of the area is great. They placed it in a perfect location. I was worried they would "pull a Pantheon" and just plop the ride down with no immersion but I would say they did a fine enough job for what it is.
  24. This is great news. There's reason we don't have many woodies in Florida (at least, uber-intense ones like Mine Blower). The climate and 365 operation just doesn't bode well for them. The layout is already great so as far as I'm concerned they can make the entire thing steel, and I may actually go and ride it more often now!
  25. ^Great review. I was actually there Saturday too, but in the morning. I agree about the brakes. That was really my only complain about the ride. Harsh slow-downs are fine, but when you have strong airtime directly into the harsh brakes, it's a real gut punch. Overall I really enjoyed the ride though. I can't believe this park built this.
