  1. Star Spangled Summer is definitely just a new name for KidsFest, which wasn't a real fitting name since the shows going on catered to the entire family, not just the kids. 2014 sounds like it should have some small new things going on. The Rudolph parade is definitely going to be cool.
  2. I definitely favor option one. I don't use Twitter, but the slideshow on option two is too big, like others have said. I could live with either one because I check the front page once a day at most. I mostly just stay on the forums. I actually like the current layout because the updates and park reports are the only things I look at on the front page.
  3. Avatar's plot is weak but the setting and effects are stunning to look at. This land isn't about being immersed in the story of Avatar, it is about being immersed in the beautiful setting of Pandora. Like what Nrthwnd said, you are entitled to your opinion, but I don't get why anybody would want a park to fail. You may not like Disney or something, but I doubt this will "blow up" in their face.
  4. I accidentally bought a spin on the wheel while exploring the store, using up 10 of the precious 45 donuts I had. I wouldn't have been upset if I had won something other than $1000.
  5. I don't think they'll ever use Wonders of Life again for an attraction. It works well for events such as Food and Wine. I wish they would hurry up and put a Phineas and Ferb trackless dark ride in the Imagination pavilion. That whole pavilion needs a refresh fast and Phineas and Ferb are the embodiment of "Imagination".
  6. Other great quotes from the comments
  7. This is all great news for Batman. Currently, the queue looks like complete crap and is absurdly long. Only once have I ever seen the line go into the "park" themed area, so that shortcut is a great idea In my opinion, no themeing is better than horrible looking themeing. For example, when the park removed the cop car, the Styrofoam hydrant and bricks were just left sitting there. There is no reason they couldn't have taken 30 seconds to grab the stuff and throw them away. Instead they leave them there to rot for two or three seasons.
  8. I can reply to this one since I work at SDC yes they are bringing a whole new parade to the park this year tho I dont know every thing yet about it till March 1 but I can confirm that Rudolph and Bumble will be part Of Christmas this year. I got a SDC newsletter in the mail this week and it did confirm a new light parade with Rudolph and friends! Other news include: -Final year of the Harvest Festival stunt show -Star Spangled Summer festival replaces KidsFest with shows including a trampoline stunt show and a magician -Midnight Madness added to calendar -Return of Country Music Weekend around Labor Day
  9. There is no designated side for FastPass. Guests can be sent to either side. The hourly percentage of FastPass guests is much higher than 50%. When we used Fast Passes on Space Mountain we were sent to Alpha for our first ride and Omega for the second. Wow. Does that mean Magic Bands are going into effect as well? Soon guest relations will be full of guests wishing to complain about the horrible tan lines on their wrists \ In all seriousness though, I know they have been in development so long, but it feels like we hardly know anything about them, just rumors and speculation. Does this mean the only way to view Fast Passes will be on smart phones? I'm really excited to see how this works out.
  10. Those are all great things! The worst part of season passes was waiting in a 2 hour plus line during Fright Fest to get the passes processed.
  11. Granted, but you get a man pregnant. I wish I had a complete replica of Silver Dollar City in my backyard.
  12. I'd expect to see Avatar open in summer 2017, but that is just guessing. The new nighttime stuff I could see around early 2016. Lots of lights are going to be needed and it looks like the Tree of Life is going to get a lighting package as well. I'm guessing the new spectacular will be an animal-themed World of Color-type show.
  13. I chose option 1. Even though I don't even have a Twitter account, the slideshow on option 2 is too big in my opinion.
  14. It's rumored between a Dark Ride, GG Junior Wooden Coaster, or B&M Coaster. I never heard anything about a B&M coaster. I honestly don't think that is a possibility considering they already have 3 major B&M coasters in the park already. I would personally love a family GCI coaster with the adorable Mini-lennium Flyers though .
  15. Yeah, but at Cedar Point they have exceptional coasters, such as Millennium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, and there are other ones as well that are also great. SFMM has some decent coasters, but a lot of them are just there to boost their coaster count. And Cedar Point definitely caters to families and SFMM doesn't cater to anyone who is too short to ride the major coasters. I know you weren't trying to start a debate of park vs. park, but Cedar Point is honestly in a completely different league than SFMM and a really poor example to use. I have a different opinion than yours, but I respect your opinion and I'm glad your family enjoys the park. I don't mean to make this more into a park vs. park thing but I'm going to. People have to remember CP has no real competition around them and SFMM is right next to elite parks. They have Disneyland, USH and Knotts as parks that cater to families so they need their own target audience which is teenagers. Teenagers want coasters and extreme rides so that's what the park gives them. I have never been to the park but xyz has and has often so I can understand his complaints. He wants the park to be great so I think in order to do that, they have to maintain the rides they do have better instead of just going for records. It's ok to have focus on coasters and thrill rides but the quality still has to be there for those rides and more enthusiasts agree with xyz when they say it's not high quality. Knott's proves you can be right down the street from Disney and Universal and still cater to families. They have a nice mix of family rides and thrill rides. If SFMM really chose teenagers as their target audiences then why are they adding a third kiddie coaster as their new major ride for 2014?!
  16. You could always get the Flex Pass and then try to find a discount ticket for EPCOT or just pay the full one-day admission. You'd still get a good deal for the price.
  17. No. Those leg restraints would not work well with the inverted design. It'd be like a vekoma to the legs. My idea would never come true, but I don't see how the leg restraints would make the ride less comfortable. And if a ride like I described was ever designed, I'm sure they could easily find a way to make the leg restraints unlock during the transition from flyer to invert.

  19. If the transformation is done similarly to how Test Track was redone (which means no to changes to the ride system, just the scenes), then I would think we could see this open late 2014 or early 2015.
  20. Kentucky Kingdom
  21. How about a flying coaster that flips down and becomes an inverted coaster during a MCBR?
  22. Granted, but soon it became dead as well. I wish I was the king of the world.
  23. Yeah I apologize. The first thing that came to mind when you mentioned Wildwater Kingdom was Dorney Park
  24. Six Flags St. Louis- 30 minutes from home (season pass holder) Holiday World- 3 hours and 20 minutes from home Worlds of Fun- 3 hours and 30 minutes from home Silver Dollar City- 3 hours and 45 minutes from home (season pass holder)
