  1. I feel bad saying this considering it just reopened, but I have to say Kentucky Kingdom is the worst amusement park I've ever visited. I get that a park isn't really ever finished, but when I visit a park I want the park to at least "feel" finished. Instead, it was very apparent when I visited that Kentucky Kingdom rushed trying to fix up the attractions and completely forgot to add ANY landscaping. The buildings and rides look very nice, I'll give the park that, but the pathways need some TLC and the landscaping is non-existent. I feel like the park really should have spent an extra year working on the park before reopening, but it's too late for that now. Lightning Run is an AMAZING coaster, and even though it is short in size and in length, it really packs a punch and lands in my top 5 steel coasters. FearFall is also an amazing drop tower. But the rest of the ride selection is lacking in quality attractions. The park definitely focused on the water park, which really struck me as odd. I get that they felt that the water park was going to be a big draw and needed more slides, but more than doubling the size of the water park instead of giving some additional rides to the dry side was a strange choice. One thing that I feel is really holding the park back is its crowd. The crowd at Kentucky Kingdom was the most obnoxious crowd I've ever been around. In line for Lightning Run I saw at least 5 people smoking ahead of me. Park officials walked passed them numerous times and said nothing to them. Overall, the crowd at Kentucky Kingdom was one of the main reasons I had a bad experience at the park. I mean, my home park is Six Flags St. Louis and the crowd at Kentucky Kingdom was 10x more obnoxious. The park is trying to shake off its Six Flags-feel. But at this point it feels like a Six Flags park that is missing half of its rides. I know the park is working on its dry side and landscaping in the future years. I can see a bright future for the park, it just didn't do it for me this year. I'll give the park another try in 2016 to see how much the park has improved.
  2. I don't get the argument that theme parks can't have great coasters: Silver Dollar City- Outlaw Run, Powder Keg, Wildfire, Thunderation Dollywood- Thunderhead, Wild Eagle, Tennessee Tornado, Mystery Mine, FireChaser Express Magic Kingdom- Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Islands of Adventure- Incredible Hulk, Dragon Challenge Universal Studios Florida- Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy
  3. This is really intriguing news. I can't wait to see what crazy creations this company come up with.
  4. I thought Vortex was the smoothest Arrow looping coaster I've been on. With most Arrows it is constant headbanging, but Vortex only had a few moments that banged your head.
  5. 6/10- kind of a strange top ten
  6. If you are talking about the trademark for "Holiday World Hotel", that was discussed on here awhile ago. It is most likely just for Holiday World to make sure somebody doesn't build a resort nearby and market it as the Holiday World Hotel or "The Official Hotel of Holiday World". I highly doubt they'll build their own hotel anytime soon.
  7. maXair Arrow Dynamics Mine Train
  8. To add on to the post above: Don't blame a park for something out that's of their control. For example: I was at Cedar Point when the water main broke and witnessed multiple people harassing park employees, like the park purposely broke the water main themselves. I mean, the park gave out free bottles of water, full refunds, and comp tickets, yet people still acted like total jerks.
  9. After hearing how rough Furius Baco is, no thanks.
  10. Every picture you take looks stunning. The ones you took of the shows look so professional.
  11. Diamondback was perfectly smooth when I rode it a few weeks ago. I rode 2x in the front, 2x in the back, and 2x in the middle and there was no difference between the seats. They were all fine.
  12. I just got back from a weeklong trip where I didn't have any electronics and I come home to find a thread full of whiny comments about SFSTL. Here are some of my thoughts about the park. -For the user who said that Mr. Freeze was a horrible choice for the island inside Thunder River: Mr. Freeze is my favorite coaster at the park. It is smooth, intense, crazy, and thrilling every time. The GP absolutely LOVE it and many enthusiasts do as well. I don't see how this wasn't a great addition to the park. -The additions in the past few years haven't been as bad as most of you make them out to be. In 2006, we got Superman, which was relocated from AstroWorld, but does it really even matter? We also got a refreshed kids area that still looks really nice and really helped revamp the center of the park. In 2007, we got Pandemonium. Sure, it's a clone, but it's a family coaster that the park needed and is still popular. In 2008, we got American Thunder. It is my favorite wooden coaster in the park, it isn't too intense but has lots of airtime and is a great family coaster. In 2009, we got Wahoo Racer and the Glow-in-the-Park Parade. The Glow-in-the-Park Parade, while short-lived, kept people in the park all the way until closing, and it really was an awesome parade. In 2011, we got SkyScreamer. The park definitely needed a new thrilling flat ride and this was a great choice. In 2012, we got Bonzai Pipelines, which I personally don't care for, but Hurricane Harbor did need a new set of thrilling water slides. In 2013, we got Boomerang. The ride experience was nothing unique at all. I think it did help make the Illinois area more vibrant. In 2014, we got Tsunami Soaker. It isn't the most exciting attraction but it looks great. I really did enjoy the wharf theme they added to the area around the attraction, and I think the ride as a whole was a great choice for the park. -I think the park is working on different areas of the park at a time. From 2011 to 2013, Illinois got a reboot with the vibrant color schemes of the new SkyScreamer and Boomerang rides, the bright repaint of Tidal Wave, and the removal of the run-down bumper cars and Riverview Racer. Now focus seems to be headed towards the front of the park with the removal of the Hannibarrels, the addition of Tsunami Soaker, and the repaint of Batman. -The park's landscaping is nothing amazing, but plenty of TLC has been given to numerous buildings and rides in the past few years. We've also gotten a few better food options, such as Macho Nacho Burritos and JB's Sports Bar.
  13. In that picture of the lady who was brought into the "Cone of Silence", I noticed what I think are Disney World guidebooks on the shelf behind her. Is it a clue? Or am I being completely cray?
  14. Um, even before Goliath, Voyage wasn't the world's tallest roller coaster.
  15. This "saying goodbye to the moon" clue has me wondering if we are going to be saying goodbye to a ride in order for this expansion to occur? Also, the part about the harvesting makes me wonder if the new ride will go where the corn fields for Happy Halloween Weekends were last year.
  16. I would think so too. The boss has so much potential and the iron horse treatment would definitely benefit the boss. Not to mention the crowds that would come to SFSTL just to ride this coaster. This would definitely be a good decision on six flags part. It would definitely be a smart move to compete with SDC.
  17. That was a nice and sweet farewell article. It was a lot of fun reading the park's story and you did a great job with the park. One of the best RCT3 projects I've seen!
  18. I've heard that Six Flags has exclusive rights to the Iron Horse technology for the next few years. If so, I'm guessing they'll try to crank out as many Iron Horse coasters as possible before the contract expires. I have to believe Iron Boss is coming eventually, whether it be 2015 or later on.
  19. Pandemonium is a much better name for a spinning coaster than "Big Spin" in my opinion.
  20. Despite the fact that it is going to be extremely cramped, Diagon Alley does look freakin' awesome. Is there any update on who the manufacturer of the Gringotts coaster is?
  21. Did you seriously just quote yourself?
