Rich parents skipping lines at Disney!
azza29 replied to GrapesLie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was at Disneyland a couple of weeks ago, the handicapped line for Pirates was HUGE! All the way through the exit corridor and extending past the Blue Bayou entrance. The regular line was only 10 minutes so I don't think those people were saving much time. Unfortunate for the people who have a genuine need though. I guess once MyMagic+ is fully rolled out disabled people will be able to book ride times like everyone else, and then only need to enter via the exit where the regular queue isn't accessible. -
Security seriously got after you for taking a pic of a ride? Sure it was down but that seems a bit...awkward. To be fair though, my first time doing Haunt, one of the security guys was really being a nazi and said I couldn't have my camera out, period. I obeyed for that evening but following weekend, I opted to pull the camera out and had no issues. In the end I guess it really depends on the security...some take their job a bit too serious and others come off as pretty cool people. I felt like a bit of an ass once I realised the ride was down and those poor riders were stuck, but it was literally just one quick snap as I walked past. Great day otherwise!

Had a great day at CGA today, seems like a fun park to just wander around (a welcome relief after the craziness of SFDK yesterday). Even with GS closed there was still plenty to entertain us. Some thoughts/observations: - CGA is a beautiful park, they've done a great job with the landscaping, water features and keeping everything looking nice. - a lot of downtime in the morning - rapids broke just as the raft I was on was about to depart (didn't end up riding it, may have avoided severe wetness here), then Tiki Twirl was broken, and Firefall got stuck in the "up" position as well (at the time I was taking random pics, thought the long hang time was just part of the ride cycle, then got told off by a security guard for taking a photo of the broken ride... oops) - Flight Deck was the highlight (after I squeezed onto it... just!), wonderfully smooth for a coaster that's been around a while - can't decide if Grizzly is worse than Roar or the other way around. Roar might be slightly better because of the padded trains. Grizzly's seatbelt + lapbar + lapbar belt seems like overkill. I'm sure they'll add OTSRs soon. - Psycho Mouse is one of the smoothest wild mouse rides I've been on, very good. - Firefall and Tiki Twirl (they reopened eventually) are cool variations on the standard ride models. Firefall ride ops probably get high off those propane fumes. - flyers are great fun! Thanks to rolercstrluvr for showing us how to "snap" and taking us around in the afternoon. Seriously impressed by CGA, might not have the biggest or craziest rides (well, until GS opens) but would love to have something like this closer to home. I'll definitely be back at some point!

First trip to the park today, some impressions: - Flash Pass is the bomb! Saved us plenty of waiting in line, even with seeing three shows and taking time to view the animal exhibits we were able to ride everything at least once. - the water rides are insanely wet. I got drenched on both, especially when I ended up under the waterfall on the rapids. Fortunately it was a warm day! - Superman: for some reason we couldn't reserve this on our FP even though it was on the list of rides. So ended up with just the one ride as the line was fairly long all day. But it is a great ride, I'm a big fan of low-speed inversions so really enjoyed this. - V2: I love impulse coasters and liked how unique this one is. Great to see a clever solution to the park's height restrictions. Restraints vary significantly from seat to seat - first ride I had no problem getting it locked, second time the ride op had to shove the OTSR down so the seatbelt would lock. - Roar: my teeth are still chattering from this. Good thing the trains are padded! - Boomerang: it's a Boomerang. Nothing else to report. - Kong: ow ow ow ow ow. I've been spoilt by the nice new trains on Arkham Asylum and was dreading this. Not as bad as Lethal Weapon was, but still just rode it for the credit. - Cobra: at least the queue was short. Well it should have been. We waited at the FP entrance for two cycles and were ignored by the ride op. Regular queue wasn't long so we just ended up joining that. - Medusa: awesome coaster. Plenty of forces and speed. After this and Silver Bullet I'm fast becoming a B&M fanboy.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

After Disneyland fireworks were cancelled on Saturday due to wind: "I'm gonna ask for a refund." Dude was serious. -
Have been neglecting my game since I got the motel - too busy finalising my trip. I'll try to deliver all of my current egg stockpile to some of you guys before I fly out tomorrow... no doubt I'll have some free time while waiting in the airport!

Huge Club TPR Update!
azza29 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just did some sums, my brother and I are saving $150 on our upcoming trip from TPR discounts alone! And that's not even counting the discounts we could have used if we weren't buying season passes for the Six Flags and Cedar Fair parks. Thanks guys - membership is well worth it! -
The second half of this season has definitely given us some great episodes. Politics and scheming is at the heart of this game, and it's definitely been on display in recent weeks. Still gunning for a Cochran win, also just realised that I'll be able to watch the finale 'live' for the first time ever when I'm in SF next week! (OK so still a 3 hr delay from the east coast but better than having to download it after the fact...)

^Probably around $10/month, depending on what paid content is released. The donut glitch (now fixed) stopped me from spending too much money.

I've finally reached the motel, after weeks of furious snake-whacking! Have plenty of leftover eggs which I'll drop off to those who are still trying to get the prizes.

The Official TPR Bag of Crap Thread!
azza29 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Came home from a tough day at work to a great surprise - thanks Robb & Elissa! A mysterious package has arrived from Orlando... Filled to the brim with TPR awesomeness! Thanks TPR! -
^Send them my way - I can drop some off later today.

Five days until I depart on my six week USA trip!
-
^The backpacks do look kind of silly, however they seem to do the job well enough. Doesn't really affect the ride experience either - the only time I've ever heard my sister scream on a ride was the first time she rode the Aqualoop!
-
^It's sort of a backpack thing that goes over your shoulders. Apparently too many people were valleying when the ride first opened. The park went through a few rules trying to maximise the number of "successful rides" - first you weren't allowed to wear a shirt, then you had to wear one, and now they weigh you (to enforce the min/max weight limits) and give you the backpack. However with four slides on the tower at least the capacity is pretty good!

Thanks for a great report! Just under five weeks until I'll be seeing this park for the first time!
