  1. The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness
  2. Yeah, they had to have spent a bunch on those fireworks we could barely see. They were big and impressive, but not when there's a giant flaming ball of gas in the sky.
  3. I don't know what they can do with the Boss. They literally had RMC retrack the entire thing back in 2013, and within a couple of years it was back to its old self. Admittedly it was great right after the re-track, felt like it did in 2000 again. Boss just tears itself apart.
  4. Sounds to me like it's going to be like this ride at Como Town in Minnesota: Meanwhile this girl in the middle here is about to fall into the ride area and get run over by a firetruck and no one cares. It's fine. Firefighters are also EMTs.
  5. This year's dates haven't been published yet but the last 2 years that weekend has been part of the event.
  6. Really? Awesome! I bought mine as soon as it came out 6 years ago amd have loved it. Best handheld system yet. Bought my tickets to see Black Panther next week at Alamo Drafthouse. $16.00
  7. Sounds to me like it's going to be like this ride at Como Town in Minnesota:
  8. That's awesome! I think you know I have a kid with autism, and he's impressed quite a few people with how excited he gets about coasters, especially Outlaw Run. The look on his face really is something special.
  9. I laughed so hard at that, probably because I am a nerd. Post of the Week nominee.
  10. A bottle of ketchup, $1.39
  11. Oh, wow. I thought it was really odd for a theme park to have a church in their parking lot, but I thought it was because it was historic and thus was kept free of development. But no, if it was moved TO that location....very odd indeed.
  12. Home French press with freshly ground whole beans. Every bit as good as the coffee shop, like 1/5 the price. Sitar or zither?
  13. Because they do care (at least a little). Why are the Winter Olympics always held someplace it's cold?
  14. Those slices looked fantastic. I've never seen curled pepperoni before, but noting that nugget of advice for later. Loved that the guy you were talking to had no idea what Papa John's is. Envious.
  15. I don't like this. I'm pretty suspicious of any employer who says he can't afford overtime. Considering the cost of training, insurance, and other benefits, it can often be less to pay overtime than hire a new employee. Plus you tend to get your best people working overtime, as they're the ones willing to commit more than is required by the job. The race to the bottom with wages never works out well for anyone but the very wealthy. It hurts the poor and working class, but it also hurts business owners, as those people whose wages are deflated give up things like theme park trips to save money. This idea sounds like another short term gain, long term loss that we see very often these days in politics and business.
  16. January 1, went to SDC for the New Years event when no rides were running. Had a great time. When was the last time you made chili?
  17. Skyrush Apple Zapple or Kiddy Hawk?
  18. You must be a venerated Virginian veteran whose men are all lining up to put him upon a pedestal, writing letters to relatives relishing his elegance and eloquence. What happens to a dream deferred?
  19. Eh, maybe. I just went to Cesari's and everything was okay.
  20. I kind of love that name. It's perfect.
  21. Yeah, eagles are always cool. Just wish the keepers, you know, knew something about them.
  22. Yeah, I went for that talk, because animal exhibits are irresistible, and the whole talk was basically "There are some eagles over there. Any questions?"
  23. That's what Knoebels does best! Your plan sounds good. The chairlift is something special, goes up the mountain and has great views of the Appalachians. It's beautiful. But yeah, walking around, taking your time, enjoying the place--that's what it's about. Stop in the museums for a bit, and make sure you also ride Black Diamond, the dark ride/coaster hybrid in the back corner of the park. It's weird and very fun.
