Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Yea, once the footers are cured, it fly's by fast. Plus in the North you have to maximize what you can get done in a day, incase of major snow storms. Remember, once the snow comes down, we have such cold days that once the snow is down, it rarely goes away, so you have to be quick! -

Just a thought... Do you think GateKeeper is going to have dampened track, so that its not too loud right at the front of the park. I know we all love the roar of a B&M flying by, but I'm not sure if its the "family friendly" entrance they may be looking for.... -

I'm being picky, but I wish the return trip was not also on the towers... I think it being all by itself with the two keyholes would have looked cleaner... Not sure how I would have done differently though... **Goes and plays NoLimits** -

You never know, we may see another type of observation tower closer to the back of the park. With Windseeker and the wheel up front, Power Tower in the Middle, I could see another type of tall "family" style ride in the back... Maybe one of those "double use" towers we saw at IAAPA with an oberservation tower top and a roller coaster inside -

I must say... I'm starting to take back my comments on the slits through the key hole structures... it adds a little... zazziness...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRQ_nqWwkd8 -

That is definitely a way to say "welcome to heaven for enthusiasts." Great job, Cedar Point! ...now hide the slits. -
I prefer a Sunday in Late April, Early May. Everything seems to be up and running by then (minus the water rides, which I never go on anyway). Lines are pretty short. Just keep an eye on their events calendar as HS Music trips and other things of that nature sometimes flood the parks (if that happens and you have no choice, just go early and plan to stay late, as that is when the park is at its quietest!)

Then Ill say something... that beam thats not connected to the actual track section at the top... I mean, the concept of wooden coasters feeling like they are going to fall apart is a exciting, doing it at almost 80mph is insane, but doing it on a coaster thats not completed at the top... (its sarcasm for those who forget to read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page)

In regards to the break in the key hole structures. If you look at the renderings, it appears that there is a façade of rectangles on the structure. Its possible they will stay separate inside to allow for the structure to bend when the trains go by without the facade to crack. Possible.. we will have to wait and see -
Coney Island should be a definite, although I would keep an eye on their website since Sandy cause MAJOR damage to their infrastructure. If your staying in NYC, I'd take the subway to Coney Island, Its a bit of a long ride, but its kind of cool to take the trip like those in the 1940s would! Great Adventure is definitely doable in one day during the week. I usually leave home (Long Island) around 7 and get to the park around 9:00 (stopping to pick up breakfast from McDonalds before entering the park and sitting in the parking lot and eat it while watching the morning test runs). Usually you can get through the whole park with at least one ride on all the "good" rides by 5 or 6pm. Hershey, is a bit farther to get to than Great Adventure from NYC, plus the drive is 10 time more boring... My suggestion would to do a KD, BGW loop on a two day tour type idea, both parks are VERY worth it. March/April is a great time for all these parks, especially since no one is opening up anything new this year that would not have opened yet. ALl the Car Rental companies are good for one ways. I stick with National or Hertz, but they are all good. Stick with Sam Adams. My english friends love it. Although when your in NYC, Brooklyn Brewery is the way to go Hope that helps!!

I know want pictures of every park in the world in the fog. Amazing photos! -
Not only that, but the only thing I could see happening would be for them to take it out to put in a GCI or something of that nature, but I find it hard to believe that they would do that AFTER putting in El Toro... I wouldn't mind seeing RT get completely retracked by Rock Mountain. Not a redesign though, just a retracking. Though the concept of removing the ride to have access to the back section of Kingda Ka would be nice. Since we are reorganizing the Safari Park, the car entrance is no longer needed, which means we could open all that land behind the tower to expansion...

Strangest layouts
Brassinthegrass replied to Her0ofLime's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No your right. I do think that Vipers layout is well designed, but GASM and Shockwave did have a lot of wasted space inside....
