  1. Last season, I was at SFFT almost every single day (minus Saturdays). At the time I was living less than 10 minutes from the park, and it just became part of my routine. After a while, it became less about the rides and more about the overall atmosphere. I would go for a couple of hours, watch my favorite shows (Rockin at Rockville High and Ovation), and make a few laps around the park taking pictures and scoping out lines. I'd ride a few of the coasters if they were walk-ons and then head out. For me, I use it mainly as a way to get out of the house and moving around. Walking around on asphalt in the Texas summer is is a great workout, lol. Now that I'm living an hour from SFFT, I have a feeling that this season is going to be a lot less fun.
  2. I finally have a chance to go check out the pier! I'm going to be going next week during their Mardi Gras special. All day passes are $19.99, and while I feel like that's a little steep based on the rides, I'm willing to fork it over for the experience. Plus, I'm in desperate need of a coaster fix with SFFT and SFOT closed. Anybody else planning to hit up the pier before the big parks open for the season?
  3. TheStig, I am so glad you got my gift! I was worried that it got lost in the mail! I'm glad that you like it.
  4. I'm anxious for my "santee" to get my present. I shipped it priority so it should have gotten to them by now... I'm hoping it didn't get lost in the mail.
  5. Drive by the park on 1604 today. Rattler lift hill is completely topped off and the actual drop looks about 1/4 of the way tracked. The angle looks steeper than I thought it would.
  6. I'm in the process of moving and I had giving Brandy my old address. I was scared that I would miss my present, but by some miracle it showed up yesterday while I was packing up some stuff. I was so excited! I love everything. The candy jewelry has already been devoured and I broke in my awesome PJs (and shot glass lol) last night! Thank you sooooo much!
  7. Just got back from the post office! Can't wait until my person gets their gift.
  8. Just ordered some gifts! I'm still looking for another small something, but I haven't found it yet. I'm so excited to send off these presents!
  9. I am in love with this park! I also got frustrated with CS and I've been messing around with different parks for a while without it, but none of them look as great as yours! I wish I was as good at making buildings as you are. Can't wait for the next update.
  10. I am so totally down to participate! Things I like: -cooking/baking -theme park souveniers (t-shirts, keychains, maps, etc.) -tacky shotglasses -board or card games -cats -cool socks -Dr Pepper memorabilia In general, I like really kitschy/tacky things. If it's something that makes you groan when you see it, I'll probably dig it. I wear an adult small or medium as far as shirts are concerned.
  11. ^^ SFFT and SFOT have already stopped enforcing their locker policy altogether.
  12. The best places I've found to take pictures are from La Cantera, the Crackaxle Canyon train station and from the actual train itself. I always park in front of Neiman Marcus and walk across to the grass to get good shots of the helix area. I wish there was a better place to take pictures of the lift hill/tunnel area.
  13. SUPER AWESOME IRON RATTLER UPDATE! Dropped by the La Cantera parking lot tonight to check on the progress and then proceeded to explode with happiness. The first new track piece is in place along with a lot of new wood. Apologies for the mediocre pictures. Taking iPhone pictures at sunset isn't exactly the best. New track piece and brand new wood! Wood missing on the first drop.
  14. Pretty sure somebody's been messing with the WIkipedia page, lol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galveston_Island_Historic_Pleasure_Pier
  15. No: Six Flags Fiesta Texas Six Flags Over Texas Yes: Six Flags La Ronde Adventuredome
  16. This is some awesome news! I can't wait for more parks to adopt this technology, it's going to be awesome.
  17. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to ride Steel Eel or Great White. Even when Steel Eel was new, I don't remember it being crowded. I definitely think that Sea World has managed to stay afloat solely because they are marketed as a family-oriented park. That being said, a family coaster would fit in really well there. A clone of Manta (San Diego) would be fun, but I think that a Euro-Fighter would fit in well there, too.
  18. I really hope that they'll put in a coaster within the next 3 or 4 years. San Antonio is like the red headed stepchild of the Sea World chain. Journey to Atlantis is just a joke compared to the other two JtA rides. Steel Eel and Great White are both good coasters, but with Fiesta Texas right down the road, they simply don't stack up. Aquatica looks like a nice park, but there are 3 other water parks within 30-40 minutes (Schlitterbahn, White Water Bay, & Splashtown) I feel like the park has so much potential but they always get dealt the short end of the stick when it comes to new attractions. I don't understand it, espeically since they have plenty of room to expand.
  19. ^^ I was wondering the same thing. I still haven't heard anything back. I'm just planning on going to SFOT this weekend no matter what.
  20. I have to admit that video made me sad. Even though I'm really excited to see what SFOT is going to do with all of this new open space in the future, I do wish that Chute Out could have stayed around a bit longer. After seeing/riding it my entire life, it's going to be weird not having it in the park
  21. You're welcome, everybody! I'll be posting updates more frequently now that demolition/construction is starting to move along faster. I can't wait for this coaster to be finished!
  22. Sorry for the double post. I went to the park earlier and took some pictures. The park looks great for Fright Fest this year! The biggest surprise today at the park was finding out that they have two haunted houses this year: Monster Mansion and RockKILL High. I believe the houses are $7 each or $12 for both. There are three scare zones this year, as well. Main Street in Rockville has zombies, Crackaxle Canyon has creepy scarecrows, and the bridge from Los Festivales to Spassburg has some trolls lurking under it. I apologize for the blurry Rattler pictures. I didn't realize they were fuzzy until I got home. Mayor Slayer's tomb is quite Steampunk-y this year. One of the monsters in the main square. Cliche Goliath shot #1 ....and #2 A good portion of the track is missing. Back view of the missing tracks. No more helix! This is going to look so sexy once the new tracks are in place. And here's one of me cheesin' just for good measure.
  23. I really enjoy Fright Fest because of the shows (which are consistently good), the much smaller crowds during the day, and the cooler weather. Decorations/scare actors/etc can be hit or miss. Last year I thought they did a fantastic job with the Rockville section of the park. Lots of creepy 1950s zombies walking around and really nice decorations. I've never been through the haunted house so I can't give any opinions on it, but, for what it's worth, the line to get in is always incredibly long.
  24. Drove by the park yesterday but couldn't get a good look at Rattler. I'll be going Saturday, Sunday and Monday, though (gotta love Fright Fest) so I'll hopefully be able to get a better look at it. Anyone else planning on being there for Fright Fest opening weekend?
  25. This is so exciting. I just sent off an email. I hope I get picked!
