Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
JonnyRCT3 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Re-tracking the ride each season = it's here to stay. Although stranger things have happened, the Rattler just recently received topper track, now its getting the Iron horse treatment. I just hope Vortex stays awhile longer, when I'm old and dire, I wonder what my kids would think of such a coaster? -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Kennywood, and Camden Park had the right Idea . I think every park needs a Screamin' Swing and a giant Frisbee. Screamin' Swing = Pops of airtime. Giant Frisbee = OMFG-WTF-CRAZY ride. Seems CF might be in some-type of contract with B&M, seeing all these relatively cheap coasters pop up repeatedly makes me thing KI is next . An invert (and I dare say floorless) will bring something new and unique to the park, they thought Inverigo was a trip. Just wait to you ride a Beemer invert........ohh wait, Forceless: The Ride. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Mr. O really is giving the Ax to all these "classic" arrow loopers . As long as its something along the lines of Disaster Transport > GateKeeper, then I wont complain too much. I always thought the Vortex was popular at Kings Island, everyone of my friends who've visited KI said they enjoyed it way more than FireHawk or the Racer. Anaconda though, that just looks like Pain. -
What about the week following Memorial Day - are most rides usually open by then? They should be, it really depends on multiple factors. Usually by the 2nd -3rd operating week, everything is up and running smoothly. *Edited my OP*
-
I'd suggest you go during early June. Most rides aren't usually open during the first week or two of May, but this is not always the case. And a Fast-Lane pass should help out significantly, 10-20 min waits at max. If your staying for 10 days, a season pass is Ideal (I suggest Platinum). A season pass will save you $300+. Hotel Breakers, Lighthouse Point, Sandcastle Suites, and Castaway Bay (off-site) are all great places to stay. Breakers express is a bit cheaper and off-site, but you still get shuttle service to the park. Sandusky is a very touristy town. Lots of shops and restaurants. Enough for you to go to 5 new ones each day and still not go to the same one twice. Theirs lots to do there , Including Americas largest indoor water-park "Kalahari". And don't forget, Cedar Point has a beach right next to it, a very relaxing place. Cedar Point also offers Para-sailing and Jet-skis. Not a very scary place if you ask me. The closest International Airports to Sandusky (Cedar Point) are: -Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Cleveland, OH . (1 hour drive to Sandusky) -Port Columbus International Airport, Columbus, OH. (2 hour drive to Sandusky)

First time I've ever came to this thread and had to look twice. I thought that was real. That looks promising. -
2013 TPR Tour Questionnaire is out!
JonnyRCT3 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How long will we stay at each park, a whole operating day? Do we move to a different park/hotel each day? This may be a bit early but, in what order will the parks be? -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Seeing how your going to be flipped over and heading in the opposite direction at 67 mph (+the worlds tallest inversion). I don't think a two-second view of the parking lot will be relevant. Great to see those precious track pieces of the ground. Beemer track deserves much better than that -

Really considering the Texas/Mid-west trip. Although Magic Springs is rumored to be giving the Ax to their Zamperla Wild mouse "Twist 'n' Shout". First X coaster and now this. Really wanted both of those credits (A sky-loop and a Zamperla). Not to mention that the only Intamin parachute tower on the trip just recently got demolished. I should really go on this trip next year, because who knows what great ride will get the Ax next? -
Yep, my sentiments exactly. I'm sure I'm going to like it, I just wish it had more after the 'top hat' element rather than abruptly coming to a stop. A few twist and turns alongside the mountain (something along the lines of Maverick before the first airtime hill) would really do wonders for the ride, either after the loop or after the top hat. This coaster just really seems like it was just rushed to break their own coaster record.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

A great find and I thought I'd share. Few notes -Those people wound't NOT have the same thoughts about the ride now -That line was ENORMOUS! -The ride is just as exciting as the developers interview -Cp came to Dinn asking for the highest "wood" coaster. -Designing started during Oct/Nov. -Construction started during August. -Max +G's are 2.7 - 2.8 -
I also prefer Silver Bullet as a somewhat "foreceless" coaster. I love the fact that it feels so smooth and free-flying throughout the entire ride up until the helix. Feeling those tight forces like on Batman can be fun, but I find the smooth feeling to be more enjoyable that being "forced" around all over the place. I have to agree with you on that one. I like a coaster with smoothness, and delivers on what it promises (the feeling of flight). I do like forces though, but I think the reason why SB gets so much negativity is because it's a B&M. People, since when has B&M been forcefull? I bet if it was made by any-other manufacturer it wouldn't recieve all this negativity. Which is why I don't understand all the over-hype of I305. Greying out is "fun"? I guess this is the world I live in

Favorite Defunct Roller Coaster/Ride

Wildcat @ CP Chaos @ CP Loved those rides -
With the support work of I305, I don't think it would look to bad. Going out on a limb here, and awaiting hard criticism. This is just a very ROUGH calculation. Honestly, increase the curvature of the crests of Xcelerator by about 10-15%. Launch the train from 0-90 in 2.2, make the top hat 95' taller. And you might still be able to pull of the giga-status with only about .5 more G's
-
And for all we know, these new additions might be part of that bigger plan. The area definitely looks like it will be more open now. Yep, watch Knott's open up that area only for it to be cluttered with supports and footers for the Giga. Just look at silver bullet. Fits the theme, and blends in perfectly. I'm sure Knott's will use this perfect recipe for the supposed Giga. However, it seems odd to build two of the Parks biggest coaster directly next to each other. But this is Cedar Fair. Canada's Wonderland just got a bigger and air-less version of Behemoth.

Well if they were to go with a maintenance-hog intamin. Supports wouldn't be much of a problem. Intamin has been evolving with their structural designe. Notice how with I305/Skyrush there are less supports and more track. With their stronger track, there is less need for supports. So It would at-least look more clean that Silver Bullet, which is a mess if you ask me. A Giga could fit, but would need to be trimmed, severely, If its supposed to fit. I should quit typing now, I'm sure allot of people are tired of this topic by now. ~JonnyRCT

Massive? GCI compact coaster? Does not....compute..... This looks (well to me atleast) like it may become my #1 favorite wood coaster if it's anything like the animation. Fast, Twisty, head choppers, bunny hills. Perfect equation for a coaster. This thing looks surprisingly forceful, maybe a bit too forceful.

I'm personally happy for KBF. I really really like this addition and it's near perfect for the park. The only thing that bugs me is the choice of coaster. A wild mouse, ehh. Sure it meets the family quota but still, a wild mouse? And it's just like the one at LegoLand. I'm not saying this coaster is terrible in any means, honestly, this looks like one of the better wild mice. Although, MY personal choice would of been a bit different. A small Euro-fighter (70'-90'/no inversions/lab-bar) filled will bunny Hills( ) and "Stengel dive" like elements, and possibly some underwater maneuvers (Vanish!). Something small, compact, Thrilling, relatively-cheap, and still fits within the family market. Again this is MY personal opinion on what could of been done. *Needed to let that one out* But more importantly: I know KBF knows what they're doing. It's going to sell to the GP = Still making money, which is all that matters. If KBF is still doing this good with small additions like this. Then I can see why they don't go with multi-million dollar coasters, there is no need. Again, I'm happy with the addition and think it will make the park a more enjoyable experience. Maybe one day.....just maybe, the west coast can get that Mega-Lite, and taste that ohh-soo-sweet...air-time.
