  1. ^Looks good. If i's a decent price, I might consider one for my next group visit. I'm glad CP is finally getting their hotel properties up to standard. I've always thought these in particular were underutilized. This new era of CF has brought some much needed changes/updates. That's just a common saying now(@CP). It isn't an actual reflection of anything.
  2. Looks like a nice City Park & an interesting concept. Great job on the presentation, this place feels authentic. I could see this being a real place. (what's up with the water in the fountain?) Now I'll offer some constructive criticism. Just my own personal opinion. I do think a coaster as the first addition is a bit of a stretch, maybe a carousel. Heck, an expansion of the actual park would make more sense than adding any type of ride. But this is your park so it's whatever. (NOTE: the woodie is missing footers, IDK if that is intentional or not) I'd love to see a small woodie like Wooden Warrior @ Quassy. That seems feasible with a park of this stature. Also, you could try the "safari" fence type (if your sticking with in-game content), those would look much better than the current scaffolding fencing. Or try a wooden fence and bury it half-way. Again, my own personal opinion. This place still looks marvelous regardless. I'm looking forward to how this park progresses.
  3. Strong positive G's can become VERY uncomfortable. Grey/blackouts are fun? How this is "enjoyable"? I wonder if those are the same people who choke themselves to sleep. Airtime, on the other hand, is where it's at!
  4. [re-uploaded this posts original photos, fixing issues] Saturday, June 20, 1987 John Kline ~ Park Operations Manager Today is W.V. day, the 124th Birthday of the Mountain State. GLADIATOR, the new Stand Up roller coaster, made it's debut this season as well. Gladiator has greatly contributed to the 19% attendance increase, compared to this time last year. Gladiator is one of the largest Stand Up coasters in existence, and packs a huge punch for such a small footprint. This has been Valley Hills largest single capital investment to date. We here at Valley Hills are happy with yet another purchase from INTAMIN. GLADIATOR, new for '87! The one of a kind "Inclined loop" will take riders through an intense G Force spin. Gladiator features multiple track crossovers, with one right through the loop. The finale of Gladiator features a 360° corkscrew spin, followed by a 180° carousel turn. For all the maintenance bay enthusiasts. A unique view of Gladiator's layout. Gladiator is surrounded by Rome-styled buildings to support the coasters name. A look down the expanded midway. Vortex, also new for 1987. (Vortex replaces the old Rotor, previously located by Kid Town. Unfortunately, Rotor has been causing the park problems since day one. This newer and more reliable version was the ideal replacement for the popular attraction.) The old Rotor site has been cleared. It is now prime real estate for a possible Kid Town expansion. Gladiator has become wildly popular in such a short time. With the increased attendance & increased ticket prices , Gladiator is paying for itself already. Gladiator may be the new hotness at the park. But RattleSnake has yet to see a drop in ridership. Guests enjoy both just as much, although Gladiator has the longer lines. Until next time.... 5. Thank you for the feedback. I wanted to go with something different, I'm confident I made the right choice.
  6. Monday, November 10, 1986 John Kline An all new $4,500,000 USD stand up steel roller coaster is set to debut at Valley Hills for the 1987 season! The attraction will let riders experience all the thrills and chills of a roller coaster, all while STANDING! The relatively new stand up concept has people all around the world buzzing, and we here at Valley Hills are proud to introduce such a world class attraction. Facts at Glance Stand Up design Over 2000 feet long Three Inversions (WORLD RECORD!)* Orange track with black support structure $4,500,000 USD investment Manufactured by INTAMIN of Switzerland Opening May 1987 No name has been decided upon yet. Additional details will be available as soon as I have the go-ahead by upper management. *for stand up roller coasters The construction site has been busy these past few weeks. Due to an unusual warm & rainy fall season, the site has been a real hassle to work with. The project is already 3 weeks behind schedule. The lift hill & drop have been put into place. Including a massive vertical loop, and the unique "inclined loop" a first of it's kind. This track section was a difficult lift. The winds were on-off all day. This roller coaster is visible from almost anywhere in the park. Another great addition to the Valley's skyline. PROPOSAL 1:098-7 has been a huge success for Valley Hills, and this new attraction is another indication of our commitment to providing world class thrills. I would have never imagined ten years ago that my home park would receive something so revolutionary. Management has been very fond of INTAMIN, this is our third purchase from them. And so far the results have been astonishing. I hope this relationship can continue. John Kline
  7. Woodie is rather simple, I hope you have a great theming package to go along with it. The park is improving some, keep it up!
  8. Mini update today. I've been busy lately, so this is all I've had time for. I'll try to get another update in by the weekend. Enjoy! ______________________________________________ Saturday, September 20, 1986 Kevin Doss So today was the final operating day of the 1986 season here at Valley Hills. The park seemingly did well this season, even though their three year "building spree" is over. Valley Hills still doesn't disappoint, they are very thorough with these new additions. Monster, a family oriented attraction, was added this year in the former Wild Waters entrance area. The midway was furthered, and Wild Waters entrance was relocated accordingly. Monster, new for 1986! Monster is a the perfect ride for the kiddies & families. A step up from the Scrambler ride. This is new. Looks like Valley Hills is already planning the next one! From Wild Waters queue line I spotted something rather interesting. Whatever it is, this new attraction is MASSIVE! Before I left, I spotted construction equipment in the parking lot. Could this be related to the cleared land next to Wild Waters? Kevin Doss
  9. Whatever do you mean? It's going to get even better. Very soon. Oh, thank you. That actually means a lot. I had multiple different concepts for the Cobblestone Cafe dining area. The first one I built looked drastically different, I'm glad I chose to redo it.
  10. I don't know if this counts. Cedar Downs provides one of the most entertaining carousel rides. The world needs more of these.
  11. ^Theming for CP&LE Railroad 10:40
  12. ^ Haha, this. However, I have to say this. Topper track is a grey area, at least for me. Yes, still a wood coaster, but the amount of steel on it is quite excessive. Especially for a wood coaster. Just my 2c. CLICKY
  13. Vertical Loops, like Sky Scraper's, should be present in all future flying coaster models from B&M. Pretzels are great, but verticals provide the next closest experience, and are cheaper. Sky Scraper is the Maverick of Flying coasters, and proves to show bigger isn't always better.
  14. Cedar Point giving Mean Streak topper track. Crazy, right?
  15. It's a rather mediocre suspended coaster. With OTSR. 48'', really? >.< Two inches isn't much, but still makes a difference. The ride is no different than it was last year, two years, or ever 20 years ago.
  16. Monday, July 22, 1985 Kenny Wood Kentucky Resident. I've been hearin' all about this Valley Hills', it's been the talk of the town for quite some time now. West Virginia has a premier amusement park on their hands. My family and I always visit Kings Island, but we decided to make a change of pace this summer and visit Valley Hills. Apparently it's been around for 13 years, and I'm just now hearing about it. They must be advertising heavily. Right as you enter the park you'll notice the park's icon, Parachute Tower. Valley Hills' certainly doesn't disappoint, they even added a new ride for 1985. Sun Spin. If I'm not mistaken, this is the relatively new Huss Ranger. This is the first time I've seen it in person. Looks intriguing. Kanawha Railway is the park's first & longest coaster. I've overheard some guest raving about it. My experience was above average, but I don't think it's as good as The Beast. The ride is over-hyped if you ask me. I was able to get this photograph of Sun Spin in the station though. Just before those pesky ride ops. snatched my camera away. Music Box pleasantly surprised me. It's marketed as a family attraction, but has a hint of intensity to it. The guys across from me almost vomited, twice, during my ride (no pesky ride ops. noticed my camera ) You could hear a loud applause coming from Bluegrass Theater. I'll be sure to check this out some other time. Buccaneer was another pleasant surpise of my visit. Great placement of the queue. The ride was more than I expected. With a lengthy ride cycle, that 25 minute wait was worth it! Not a fan of water rides, so I skipped Wild Waters. Even though It did look better than your average flume. With nothing else to keep my interest, I headed towards the other side of the park. Valley Hills has an awesome pizzeria. Cobblestone Cafe offers a tranquil picnic area to, nice touch. I took a spin on Trout Spin (pun intended), an enjoyable experience. Another spinning ride, across from Trout Spin, Rotor. The ride was "meh", just a simpler version of Trout Spin. Being the hungry man that I am, Kid Town Market was my next stop. The menu here was kid oriented, as expected, but I still bought a large soda. (I noticed they were the cheapest here.) Valley Hill's star coaster, RattleSnake. I was quite impressed with this one, had a good mix of elements. That loop was intense, even better than Lightning Loops! Five minutes before closing, I took one last ride on Parachute Tower. Kenny Wood.
  17. The park is headed into the mid 80's now. The park may or may not go through a drastic change. Take that for what it's worth. Either way, something twisty is coming. Update soon!
  18. Great. I don't see how that ever qualified as a childrens' area.
  19. I have walked the walk of shame, if embarrassment counts? I remember riding Raptor @ CP, and while waiting in the brake zone, my legs (kneecaps) locked. That was an awkward & long process to get out of my seat. That whole experience was rather odd.
  20. Does this mean Gemini Childrens' area will be consolidated into Camp Snoopy? I've always thought of it as being sub-par, and don't see why CP claims it to be it's own childrens' area.
  21. Welcome! Not to bad for your first CS park. I am also getting used to using CS, Valley Hills is my first CS park as well. Since you are open to constructive criticism, I'll offer some. All of this is my personal opinion. Overall, the Entrance looks swell. Lots of shrubs and greenery to be found, it has very authentic look. Albeit a bit small. It works for now, but if this park is looking to expand, the entrance paths will need to be enlarged. In the second picture I noticed some errors? Missing path edges, fencing & walls. In the third picture I noticed a missing wall towards the wooden structure, IDK if all this is intentional or not. American Flyers is looking a bit tacky with that overdose of generic walls. Not the best choice, AF is looking like a concrete jungle. Maybe try circular fencing around the ride, with some vegetation. I think that would have a better look, and would certainly add to the ride experience. Because right now, your peeps are just swinging around in a concrete box. Basically: to much concrete. Try and capitalize on the scenery, nature always prevails. Jumper has some minor flaws to it, mainly the audio equipment. It just seems like it was randomly placed next to the ride, and doesn't really fit in with it's surroundings. Maybe try and make it looks like it's part of the ride, IDK it just really sticks out like a sore thumb to me. The QUE really detracts from the ride & the realism. Maybe try some smaller sized paths (quarter tile) or just make the line more direct & less switchbacks. And again, you can never have enough vegetation. The more greenery, the better! Golden Zephyer is the golden egg of the park. Everything blends together well. Great Job on that one! I strongly suggest using a similar style (walls & fencing) for the other two rides, because their current "themes" are rather lackluster. Not trying to be rude, just giving some pointers. The eatery is understandable, I to am not so great with CS buildings. Don't feel like you have to include CS buildings. Create something you are comfortable building & what looks good to you. That way you'll be able to design buildings without any pressure, which usually results in great looking structures. Some smaller independent buildings would be better suited for a park this size anyways. I know this post is rather long, so I'll wrap this up. Catskill's Dam has lots of potential, just work on that choice of fencing, and try and make the rides themselves stand out. American Flyers could really use some TLC. Really not trying to downplay your park, I'm just giving some advice. GREAT choice of signage, never seen those before - and they work well for your park. They definitely fit in with Jumper. I'd also like to note your great looking path textures. [About the screenshots: does F10 not work? That's odd, it usually auto-saves it to your RCT3 picture folder. Also, naming a peep "David Walsh " & then pressing ctrl+U will remove the UI.] Looking forward to seeing more!
  22. Wow great park! I adore the entrance area, so much detail to be found. Overall, rides are placed well and draw attention to themselves. Creating good traffic flow. That stand up was a great choice (albeit the arrow was a bit much), fits in perfect with the rest of your park. I'm also glad Fresno Vista is expanding it's flat ride selection, I always like to see parks focus on these. Fresno Flume however, doesn't exactly look all that appealing. It has potential, some theming would go a long way for it. I feel like it's being under-utilized. Pirate Peril, could also use some TLC in the foliage department as well. Either way, they are both great additions, nice choices. Two things that strike me odd about this place: lack of foliage & plain terrain textures Gunslinger looks interesting, that's if it's only going on that "brown" spot. A good 90's compact woodie sounds great!
