  1. Thanks! That's what I was aiming for: a good mix of coasters & flats. I wanted the park to offer something for everyone, and I think it does that quite well. Which is especially need now. I tried to be original & realistic with the layout. The current supports are staying though, sorry, I don't want to make this park super laggy to build in. I designed Valley Hills to offer a variety of attractions, giving guest plenty of options to choose from.
  2. 3rd hint: Mouse is part of the name....
  3. If it is something like that. I'd be willing to dish out 5-10 dollars to ride.
  4. Saturday, May 5, 1984 John Kline Today is the second operating day of the 1984 season, and crowds are abnormally heavy. We here at Valley Hills are entering year two of the redevelopment plan, and so far things have been going good. Last year, we finally saw a break in the attendance drop. Thanks to the new additions & increased advertising, attendance went up 20% and was one of Valley Hills busiest seasons on record. This year, the midway has been further extended, new attractions are to be found! Lets take a look... The midway has been expanded even further, now offering two addition attractions for families to enjoy. Buccaneer & Wild Waters, new for 1984! Buccaneer, a Huss manufactured swinging ship. Buccaneer is a truly massive ship. The ride and it's Que are nestled within Wild Waters proximity. Lots of happy riders to be found, another solid family attraction for Valley Hills. (I was granted special permission to bring a camera aboard.) Another shot of Buccaneer, taken at the rides exit. This thing is HUGE. Buccaneer's exiting bridge crosses over Wild Water's final splashdown. You can get some great views up here, don't stay to long or you're in for a wet surprise. Another Log full of wet riders. Wild Waters! The entrance to the longest log flume on the east coast! For those who don't know: Wild Waters WILL get you wet, so it's recommended you purchase a [$1] locker to store your important items. Wild Waters has a lengthy, secluded Que. Being Park Operations Manager, I was granted front of the line access. Bypassing an hour Que. A new trail now connects Allegheny Hall with the new midway. A great scenic route for those who are fans of nature. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a make-out zone... Allegheny Hall's picnic area provides some magnificent (once secluded) views of Kanawha Railway's second lift. Yesterday, we saw record crowds for opening day. Third larges opening day crowd on record. This is all great news for Valley Hills! Towering Inferno is still one of the most popular rides at the park. (someones about to get wet back there...) Towering Inferno's maintenance stairway can provide some otherwise unattainable views. W.V. Turnpike is still popular among the families. A staple attraction here at Valley Hills. The foliage around Dodge 'Em has grown some. The ride is becoming decorated beautifully by the vegetation. Great foresight gardening department! Rotor has finally re-opened. For good! All the major malfunctioning parts have been completely replaced due to maintenance being unable to find the specific problem related to it's downtime. Costly, yes. However, the ride has yet to have any hiccup. Hopefully this one will stay open for more than a few weeks at a time. Valley Hills is heading into a brighter tomorrow. 1984 needs to continue a green profit trend & attendance in order for Valley Hills to survive. So far so good.... John Kline~
  5. Apparently we think the same... I researched heavily on each ride & attractions (I've added) real-world counterpart. To ensure it's financially feasible & a trendy ride during the time period. The winds of change are upon Valley Hills. But how hard will they blow..?
  6. From my own experience on these forums. I've noticed this has been a big issue for Europe, and not much of a problem stateside.
  7. The layout itself is good. The catch is: it's a terrible layout for Vekoma to build upon. Making it also an awful layout, it's a double edged sword to me. This is all my own opinion, you don't have to agree.
  8. I might pick this park back up, although Valley Hills has me booked. I have 75% of Jazzland's timeline planned out, all that's left is the execution. Also, these are all Photobucket pics (which has a viewing limit), so I had to wait. So glad I dropped that crappy program, Flickr is 100X better.
  9. ^The layout is terrible for a Vekoma built ride.
  10. Vekoma Boomerangs The layout is great (considering size). The problem is Vekoma...
  11. ^Drehgondelbahn Freizeit-Land Geiselwind Guess away...
  12. Wednesday, June 1, 1983 Kevin Doss ~ local guest As a frequent visitor of Valley Hills, the lack of new additions was beginning to test my patience. This year however, Valley Hills announced three new attractions. One is supposed to be the nations largest free fall ride. A family oriented ride, and an all new eatery. This was all great news to hear, so a visit to Valley Hills was inevitable. I spy a new figure within the horizon! I was surprised to see an all new midway open this year. I'm so used to getting nothing, this felt surreal. Towering Inferno! New for 1983. Looks intimidating! That 100 foot drop was no joke. The most frightening ride at the park if you ask me. Towering Inferno had a 1.5 hour wait all day. I don't remember RattleSnake ever being this busy. Music Box, the other new ride for 83. Skipped this one, mostly due to the long que. Valley Hills was surprisingly crowded today, very unusual. Finally, something new to chow down on! Allegheny Hall offers a variety of local cuisine. They even brought back those giant pretzels! Allegheny Hall also features a picnic area, with an exclusive view of Kanawha Railway. If I had more film, I would've spent ages with this photogenic spot. Bluegrass Theater has finally re-opened, albeit further down the new midway. I hear the new show is better than the last, next time I'll be sure to check it out. Purchased this postcar featuring Towering Inferno. The name strikes me odd, I swear I've heard that somewhere.... Seems like Valley Hills has something new up it's sleeve. The park has been frequented by construction vehicles lately. According to the local paper, they're on a building spree. A bit noisy, but new rides are always welcomed in my book. Kevin Doss~
  13. Wow, this game looks superb. It's like applying no limits to everything in RCT3, plus more!
  14. ^ They shouldn't of went with a clone if the environment was a factor in the first one. They could of at least wen't a slightly modified / original layout. But more on topic: the layouts are still rather bland. I'm assuming they were going for a "speed" coaster. Missed the mark on that one. If only this was a woodie, RMC could do wonders with it. Camelbacks would be great replacements for those flat spots, such wasted potential.
  15. This. I also don't like the long straight sections. They could have totally fit a couple more hills in the ride layout. Or taken the hills in the middle of the straight sections & made them double-up, double-down hills. That would have been sweet. Six Flags budget cuts perhaps? They get the height & speed (add material). without doing much else. The few hops towards the end do some justice for the ride though. Your'e going to have to dish out more than $12m for a decent Intamin hyper. You get what you pay for. Example: Bizzaro & Skyrush both were a $20m investment.
  16. Something like that would require one hefty support job, even for the most basic maneuvers. 17. ================================ Update! Sorry for the wall of text, but it's important. Enjoy! ================================ Tuesday, August 31, 1982 Kevin Jones ~ Valley Hills financial officer After about an hour of discussion, both parties came to an agreement. Valley Hills will receive their tax breaks, and will temporarily be granted permission to not pay the City's compensation for the next 3 years. However, once the three years are up, Valley Hills will have to pay their debt, with a 20% interest rate. This will allow for Jenkins' plan to materialize, and hopefully provide a steady cash flow. Which would also enable Valley Hills to deal with this new contract. The unused portion of the parking lot has been reserved for private use. Equipment related to the $10,000,000 additions has begun arriving on site. Site clearing has already begun, and construction will break into full gear once the 1982 season is over. Plan 1:098-7 is Valley Hills' last chance for survival. If this plan does not succeed, Valley Hills will undoubtedly go bankrupt, closing after only 13 operating seasons. With only 3 years to make a comeback, this has to go off without a hitch! Kevin Jones ~
  18. Oh, okay. Thanks. Lets hope for the best! Valley Hills will keep chugging along, at least for now.... Thanks for the compliments btw! This story has begun heating up a bit. What's next will decide the Valley Hills' shaky future.
  19. So....... when will we be getting to the park?
  20. Wildcat @ Frontier City. Let me just say that the ride itself looks stellar. The only problem is that trim before the pond, that dip would've provided some killer air.
  21. Big Dipper, Camden Park. I know it's old, so the current layout is expected. But OMG, the layout is so uninspiring.
