  1. Ever heard of Intimidator 305? SkyRush is more of an airtime machine than anything. I305 is a blown up Maverick.
  2. what does this mean. what park's lineup isn't average if you take away their two signature rides? This is mostly true, but I do see where he is coming from. Kings Dominion doesn't really offer much outside of those two rides. Well, enough for me to travel for.
  3. Known coaster investments (well, all the ones I could find).
  4. Hmm. I've only heard good things about Mantis's color scheme. I personally think it's one of the better looking coasters out there.
  5. How would stopping on the brake run effect the ride? I'm a bit lost here.
  6. Hmm. Seems a bit unrealistic to have such a big radius for a curve after the mcbr.
  7. Intimidator will have you covered.
  8. I'm 99.99% sure this is some type of B&M steel coaster. So...yeah.
  9. Yes, I was working on an Iron Horse Mean Streak a while back, that project has been put on hold. I've yet to find the time or money to bother with NL2. NL1 works fine, as it does everything I need it to do. Thanks!
  10. There is already a thread for this. What is the worst B&M/intamin/GCI
  11. Monday, August 21, 2006 Devin Smith - park spokesperson Hello all, and welcome to my final update as park spokesperson. It's been an amazing 17 seasons at the Valley, with many wonderful memories and experiences throughout it all. The beginning of my final update will begin with Black Stallion, the first ride to be added during my 16 year tenure. The airtime in the back is truly spectacular! The new wood helps with the smoothness too. Exclusive shot atop the Valley Lift's eastern station. Such a beautiful skyline! I'm going to miss seeing this everyday. Barrel Blast is another attraction that was added during my early years here (1992). I have yet to see lines slow down on this one since opening day, 14 years ago. Speaking of crowds, just look how popular Coasters Restaurant has become! Revenue here has been simply fantastic, one of the best investments the park has made according to Kevin Richards , Valley Hills' Chief financial officer It was Kevin Shields' (General Manager) last-minute decision during the designing phase to include the iconic coaster track. This has become quite the touristy photo spot for a lot of our guests. Excellent choice, Kevin. Not too far off from Barrel Blast & Coasters Restaurant will you find the all new Cardinal, the world's largest Frisbee ride. Guests can also take advantage of the new underground midway to catch a break from the summer heat. The earth provides a natural, soothing cool that no air conditioner can match. Cardinal provides quite the disorienting ride experience with some awesome moments of both zero-gravity, and strong positive g-forces. Personally, I find Chaos to provide a much wilder, and out-of-control type ride than Cardinal. It may be smaller, but it sure does pack a punch. Unfortunately, this attraction hasn't proven too popular as it only managed half capacity during Independence Day weekend. The ride hasn't been a reliable one either, breakdowns happen every-so-often, usually something to do with the restraints not locking properly. Speaking of reliability...Déjà Vu experienced a series of the same unfortunate events. The train stalled at this location six, count em', SIX times in the past twelve days. On top of that, the ride's lift mechanisms caused riders to be stuck for nearly 4 hours last Thursday. The ride will remain closed indefinitely until all the issues with the rides manufacturer are resolved. We thank you for your patience! An exclusive shot from IGNITION's 125-foot lift hill. 32 screaming passengers traverse the vertical loop. Immediately following the loop, riders fly over the creek and zero-gravity their way over the station... ...and head directly into the cobra roll that decorates the IGNITION plaza. One of the more recent additions is Pulse. The new multi-million dollar renovation has opened to rave reviews. The new vertical holding section is the rides highlight according to many guests and coaster enthusiasts alike. Well, that's all....It's been a fun ride! The Valley will always be a place I call home. for the last time, Devin Smith P.S. Kevin Shields, Valley Hills General Manager, also commented on the recent coaster leak. There you have it! Let bygones be bygones... P.P.S. A new park spokesperson will take over for me, so look forward to even more inside looks of Valley Hills! P.P.P.S. Get ready for 2007!
  12. ^Please keep in mind that whenever a park releases monetary figures it is the total investment. Not simply the cost of the materials (the coaster) from the supplier. Construction for large projects (such as a roller coaster) tend to be pricey. Not only do they need to pay B&M for designing the ride, they also pay up for the manufacturing and transportation of ALL materials related to the ride whatsoever. Then there is the actual construction, including equipment and paying the workers. You would also need to include all the numerous other third-party contractors to get a rough figure of what the total investment would be.
  13. Magic Mountain you say? Truly the ideal setting.
  14. Ok, yes. And your point is? I highly doubt the motivation behind Blue Streak, and $200k, was to simply use the Blue Streak moniker. Blue Streak was unpainted when it opened btw. I already said that a rename is more than likely, but a complete overhaul of an attraction is a bit of a stretch. Especially for the reasons already stated.
  15. ^^If this ever comes to fruition, and that is a big IF. Then I'm assuming a ride may receive an alternate name for maybe a month or so, with a temporary banner outside the queue. Do you really expect any park to spend millions on renovations to simply honor a post on a social media site? Let's be reasonable now. If CP has money like that, we'd have 10 giga launch coasters by now.
  16. Does Holiday World usually pump a lot of cash into their theming for attractions?
  17. I adore wing coasters. I've only ridden GateKeeper, but I can tell from pictures & videos that coasters like Wild Eagle & Parrot Coaster could provide truly amazing experiences. I really do not understand where all the negativity regarding wing coasters come from. People complain about the lack of forces knowing full well that these are made to provide the sensation of flight NOT a wild & forceful ride. There's an app for that: Inverted coasters.
  18. Jack Rabbit at Kennywood. SNOOOOOOZE FEST, save that one moment of airtime. Everyone raves about the double down. It does deliver on some decent airtime, but nothing to rave about. Especially with Phantom's Revenge being in the same park, which provides better air on every hill. Thunderbolt easily beats this coaster in every department.
  19. I am also in agreement that this park could use a boost in the coaster department. Heck, I'd be happy if they joined up with RMC to re-track their wooden coasters with topper track. Maybe a few minor re-profiles too. And of course one of them could get a full Iron Horse treatment. This could truly be a window of opportunity for CW.
  20. What do you mean? It got new trains three years ago? Yeah, why would they need new trains, again, already? These are already lighter than the originals. How light do you want them to be? Maybe light enough for them to truly fly off. Perhaps like the Man of Steel himself? Now that's top-notch theming!
