  1. Swinging ships seem to be be pretty easy to maintain and relatively liked by guests. As cool as that location would be I don't think there's any reason to get rid of Joker.
  2. ^ I agree with Doug on the Giant Discovery. I also second that Ninja isn't going anywhere. It would be costly to remove and replace and I haven't heard of anything that would indicate that it's beyond routine maintenance. As far as a Sky Warp being redundant because of our Super Loop, let's be honest. This is Six Flags! The good thing about that is that any similarities, although as few as there may be, between Excalibur and a Giant Discovery will be overlooked.
  3. It must be owned and operated by the same people who own Knoebels.
  4. I'm glad the Boss trick worked for you! It's pretty much my go-to strategy on most wooden coasters. Unless I'm on something like a B&M Hyper I don't have much of a desire to put my hands up, anymore. There really aren't many low budget options left available for new additions. What's the cost of a Giant Discovery vs. a Free Spin? I could actually see a Free Spin happening if Tidal Wave isn't reopening. I think the footprint would be right for it. There aren't a lot of options left. A RMC Wonder Woman clone, if they even clone the ride chain-ride, would be much more far fetched. Also, a Skyrocket II? Forget about it. I think that with a park our size guests would go nuts over a free-spin. I guess I could see something like a Syline Attractions Skywarp, but those look so sluggish. Sea World's model is down right laughable and it was entertaining watching reporters trying to act excited while riding it on media day. I almost wonder if those turned out as well as Skyline thought they would.
  5. Nice. Sounds like Six Flags is taking HITP pretty seriously. I'm not sure how popular the fire pits will be mid-summer, though.
  6. I'd pay $10 for the convenience of mindlessly following the blue line on my prehistoric iphone, with the priority of my focus being on whatever shitty pop culture music I'm listening to. Not only that, but yes. If you want to see a shooting you're better off taking the route closest to Chicago, but if you're close enough to pick up Chicago radio stations there's still a chance you'll have a front row seat. Talk about a thrill ride... Seriously though, bro. Don't sweat it. Leave with time to spare and follow the blue line on your GPS. My only advice is to bring cash and plenty of loose change for tolls. They're worth it for the most direct route. A few bucks for more convenience? Sold.
  7. I second the ferry idea. Another option is to take a hot air balloon. Both are convenient, so it's your choice. Or, you can just take 294 and not over complicate it. I 'think' that's the way any GPS takes us and we've never had any issues with it. Google maps will help you avoid traffic. You'll be fine.
  8. I didn't watch the entire 15 minutes of it, but that fireworks display looked like it kicked ass.
  9. I still feel like for someone who is wanting to hit the coasters first, this is the best order: Mr. Freeze immediately for a ride or two Pandemonium (It's not a unique layout, but it has a nice setting in the wooded area) Boss Screaming Eagle Mine Train Ninja Batman American Thunder You literally do a circle and take the patch of least resistance to each ride if you hit the park at rope drop. Freeze's line moves slow, so knock it out before a line even forms. No one will be at Pandemonium, yet. Most people hadn't made their way back to the Boss by the time you get there. Same with Screaming Eagle at the top of the hill. Mine train might have a short line by then, but a lot of people flock to the big coasters and the families are still making their way in. Ninja is a POS, so there probably won't be much of a line at all when you get to it. Batman will probably have the longest line by that point, but its high capacity will make the wait pretty short. By the time you complete the circuit and go back to American Thunder it will be hit or miss, but the line is usually on the somewhat short side. Work the flats from there. Back when I gave a shit that's what I would do at opening and I could hit everything within about an hour or so of the park being open. I still vote to use your skip the line pass on Screaming Eagle. I say this, because it provides the most unique night ride at the park and by the time it's dark the line will be packed. It's an overlooked great night ride.
  10. Both your HW TR and your KK TR were great. I found it funny how The Chicken Wings/Fish Station and the Nacho Bar kept the coaster lines short! Welcome to the Midwest. If there'd been a free chewing tobacco station you would have had walk-on rides all night. ^Lightning Run I know. I seriously don't understand that either.
  11. So the pizza tour is a complete bust, which I'm really disappointed about. It was the first thing that came to mind when we decided we were going to spend a couple days in NYC. The only day in July where there's no tour available is the day we planned to do it. We booked an all day tour for day two, which includes the Empire State Building, 911 Memorial, the Statue of Liberty, and several other stops. It's kind of a catch all for as much time as we have. We like these kinds of tours when we have limited time in cities. We took a catch all Washington DC tour last month and we learned and visited a lot in a short amount of time. It's just easy. We also really want to eat at Lombardos' Pizza's original location. Are there really long lines on the weekends? I also don't know if we should get their classic Margherita pizza or our go-to pepperoni and sausage. From what I understand, the Margherita pizza started it all at Lombardo'?
  12. It's a pretty big undertaking for a copy/paste ride. It's not like a free-spin. No one has said one word about SeaWorld/Busch having two Skyrocket 2 coasters, but people will undoubtedly complain if this ride were to be copied in just one other SF park. I'm not sure if these elements do much. My guess is that they seem like a good filler instead of longer stretches of straight track so that that coaster designers can put elements where they want without leaving any lull in the action.
  13. Get there right at opening and here's the order I would go: Mr. Freeze immediately for a ride or two Back track to American Thunder Boss Pandemonium (It's not a unique layout, but it has a nice setting in the wooded area) Screaming Eagle Mine Train Ninja Batman Move quickly. Everything from Boss to Batman is in walking order, too. I would use the skip-the-line pass for a night ride on Screaming Eagle. Mr. Freeze would also be a good choice, if you must. Batman line moves fast, so don't waste it there. Another option would be to waste it on antique cars just for laughs... (Don't) ***USE THE BOSS TRICK*** Pick the front seat of a middle car. Usually one of the middle cars near the front is best. Put your butt back. Grab the handle bar in front of you and pull yourself forward. Trust me on this. 1) Butt back. 2) Handle bar. 3) Lean forward. My advice for the screaming eagle is the same, although a very front seat ride is decently smooth. My Ninja tip is to make sure you have Ibuprofen on hand and my Boomerang tip is to watch a youtube POV. Our Superman drop tower is nice, because it sits up on a hill. Ask for a seat facing the park. Sky Screamer is good, because it's a Sky Screamer. Ride the giant Ferris Wheel if the line is tolerable. The train is pretty good. If you've ridden any other Justice Leagues I would skip out on ours. It's the first generation and I've heard it's not quite as advanced as the others. Seriously though, don't waste your time with antique cars. Eat at the Coney Dog Place in between the entrance and the Ferris Wheel. They serve massive hot dogs with the option of cheese, onions (IIRC), and chili. Maybe corn dogs, too? It's been years since I've had it, but I remember it being good. I think their fries were decent, too. JB's is a decent place to grab a beer. On another note, I should probably use my season pass and go to the park this year...
  14. 2019 - When not only can rides be criticized for being too rough, but they can finally be criticized for being too smooth. Personally, my only complaint was that the seats are too comfortable. It's a liability thing. If you send a thousand riders with their hands up someone is likely to strain a muscle and blame Six Flags.
  15. ^^^ lol. Good sport. That had to be pretty fun on a brand new coaster.
  16. I know people are complaining about the length of the ride and I get it. I typically don't judge anything before I experience it first hand, but I think I'd rather take Maxx Force any day over a small coaster like a Skyrocket 2 that people always seem to rave about or firmly defend. I like the idea of 20 Seconds of pure speed and craziness vs. my mixed experiences of uncomfortable hang time barrel rolls. I'm a fan of turns. I'd be a lot more willing to stand in line for an hour (lol year right) for Maxx Force vs. a Skyrocket 2.
  17. I don't care about anything named Sawmill if it doesn't have anything to do with CP building a log flume.
  18. Unless our park plans on cannibalizing yours if it's the same model.
  19. Hmmmm. I might have to consider taking the long 30 minute drive back to City Museum. It's been at least ten years since I've been.
  20. Yeah... I wouldn't put much faith in a Facebook user's announcement. There's no reason to just shut a ride down for the season. They're shutting the ride down until the issue is fixed, which could be next week or next season.
  21. Gobbler's Getaway always holds a line and I've never ridden when something has malfunctioned. Even if Cedar Point opened a proven tech Sally dark ride they wouldn't maintain it. I think Cedar Fair outsources their dark ride maintenance to Six Flags.
  22. Cedar Point: Millennium Force and Maverick. Yep. I said it.
