  1. My estimates were more, but my phone reeled it in to four hours after you guys pointed it out. But... Don't you EVER refer to the Mule-Go-Round as a failure!
  2. I expect a wooden roller coaster to feel like I'm floating through air. So now what? You got me.
  3. Since I'm from Saint Louis, as soon as my daughter is old enough to facebook and start fights, I'm going to buy my $40 season pass (aka- summer babysitter) and drop her off at the park constantly. That's the status quo for SFSTL.
  4. I'm in the metro-east. It takes me 50 minutes to get to SFSTL. Edit- My phone says it takes four hours... I don't know.
  5. Heh. When you put it that way... I was speaking about the people who love going through the single rider lines multiple times while their friends wait in the normal line.
  6. You mean like Kings Island (6 hours), Great America (5 hours), Worlds of Fun (5 hours), Holiday World (3 hours), Mt. Olympus (6 hours), Kentucky Kingdom (4 hours), Silver Dollar City (5 hours), and Indiana Beach (5 hours)? What a terrible set of options... If a corporation doesn't "like" a portion of their business, almost always because of profit, they get rid of it. Six Flags is on company owned land, it turns a profit, and it gets a new ride almost every year. It's only a perspective issue, because of your limited knowledge. You're flat out wrong.
  7. There's no way only enthusiasts are people who notice, or care about a really fun ride being frequently down or unreliable. My friends and I weren't enthusiasts when Mr. Freeze (SFSTL) was new, but we certainly noticed and cared when it was commonly not operating. It's not good to have a signature ride out of operation, no matter the park. We can all be a little too defensive when it comes to standing up for parks. They shouldn't get a free pass on everything. -Safety chain: People don't know what components are on roller coasters, but clearly they understand some sort of fail safe did not work. If they use the term "safety chain," who cares. LSM/Safety chain/magic, it makes no difference if the mechanism failed.
  8. That's the best description of RMC coasters I've ever heard. I'm not optimistic with a description like that. It's like another way to say "tolerable." A burned steak can be tolerable, as long as it's not burned too badly. Why would I drive four hours for a burned steak?
  9. Totally makes sense. I can see that for a lot of kids. I suppose the parents who bring their kids to haunts at night (again, I wouldn't) seems less reckless than some of what I've seen at entertainment venues. We saw a family with an infant at BGW on a 90 degree day that couldn't have been any more a few months old. I also shake my head at parents who are pushing their sleeping babies around in strollers in loud places at 1am. We saw a crap ton of that in Vegas.
  10. I don't plan on bringing my 16 month old to any haunts, mostly because she will be in bed, but I can guarantee you she wouldn't know what she was looking at enough to be scared. The concept of scary monsters and ghosts isn't really there at this age. As much as she loves her pink stuffed animals, she would also probably be entertained by haunt-type animatronic and effect crap.
  11. I'm almost wondering if dude is trolling at this point. Saying corporate hates our park is an incredibly immature way to look at it. I remember hour long waits for everything, too. We had Screamin' Eagle, Ninja, and Mine train. Now, we have Batman, Mr. Freeze, American Thunder, and Boss to spread the wealth. There are also more operating days in the calendar to spread the crowds, and outdoor/family wants and needs have changed. Six Flags Saint Louis would much rather have my wife and kid coming to the park and spending money, rather than teenagers fighting over turkey legs. They need both, but they would prefer to draw more families with TLC. At my point in life, I don't want to go spend my time at a shithole, and Six Flags Saint Louis has come a long way in our eyes. Why did I just waste my time defending such an immature stance?... Again. Troll.
  12. That's dumb. Corporate doesn't find the need to add anything else to our park, because the profit margins are good. If they didn't care, the maintenance budget would be pennies and there would be no upkeep. They could have easily plopped Catwoman down on its originally planned location and left Superman SBNO, instead of recognizing an entire area needed to be gutted.
  13. I'm skeptical of IB's wooden coasters with positive reviews, considering it's reasonably close to Holiday World. People in that area might just be used to jack hammering garbage.
  14. Front. You can hang over the inverted drop and the keyhole elements are more effective. If you ride it again, choose the back row to get whipped (kinda) through the back row.
  15. How can their newest coaster already be rough?
  16. LOL Close, but I like most of the rides. It's just that Screamin' Eagle is usually my reason for driving an hour any time of the year that isn't Christmas.
  17. Damn. Sucks to hear the park is closed for the rest of the year.
  18. Breaking records for the first coaster to open with fully grown grass.
  19. I didn't know they sold turkey legs over there.
  20. I have a new position at work. Despite it involving weekends off, it also has the drawback of being on-call... indefinitely. A meetup won't be easy for me. As far as Orion, I think we've heard far less complaints about it this year than we did last. It's been getting a lot of praise. I'm convinced the full trains have something to do with it.
  21. Here's to hoping it's some kind of outdoor boardwalk/restaurant/patio/bar area. That seems like it would fit in well, considering the resort is only a few hundred feet away. I know people are hoping for a boardwalk GCI, but it seems like Cedar Point has more of an interest in opening up the beach area, rather than boxing it off. I'm sure Cedar Point could easily get another 30 people to man the area...
  22. Coming as their next new coaster to Worlds of Fun in 2029. (tentative)
  23. Worst case scenario, drop line will still probably be open.
  24. ^ I don't know if it's how coasters are designed now, but I find front row rides keep getting better and better. Orion is a good example of this.
