  1. Yes. That's exactly... what happened to the chiller. JK, I'm sure FoF will be open for years to come.
  2. Unfortunately security has to be more concerned with things like loss prevention and safety, instead of line jumping. Although it's rude, there is no physical harm done and no property lost in order to waste the type of resources that would need to be used to man the security cameras.
  3. We can all appreciate your enthusiasm, but there's no way this will work. People don't care about shaming. Hell, people don't even care about jail (aka - timeout). No offense, but just know that this is what society is really like when you step out from behind your computer. It sucks. And to think for the most part you're still dealing with the better half of society.
  4. ^ Absolutely. Love it or hate it (we all know the debates), you always know what to expect from B&M.
  5. I'd remove the trim on Raging Bull. OMG this! (minus the hydraulic launch) I loved Freeze just how it was. Now it's just meh.
  6. The Fast Lane will take you directly to the station. Worth it? Yes. My wife and I never had to wait more than five minutes.
  7. I thought that too, but I try not to over analyze the pictures, anymore.
  8. I'm OK with the way the vests hold you in during positive G's. They do kind of neuter the negative G moments, though.
  9. I guess I missed this, but how did we determine the color scheme? I'm really enjoying all of the investigative thinking, but I have to agree with Neil, too. I hope it is a B&M launched, but it's almost like someone planted the idea and we've been finding ways to prove what a lot of us want. I suppose there are a lot of good clues that lead that way, though. However the lap bar only idea is totally left field and probably not going to happen with B&M if we're looking at a looper. Especially with the success of the restraints on their wing riders and Banshee.
  10. ^^ I'm going to laugh (and cry inside) when/if this thing turns out to be some sort of Aqua Trax type ride.
  11. HAHA! Truer words have never been spoken. God Bless Six Flags.....
  12. The park is private property and they can ban weapons on their premises. Six Flags is not going to allow open carry...
  13. Thank you. There are a huge percentage of employees who are dedicated to the park (including a lot of upper management), and we, more than most probably, see some of the shortcomings of our park. Working 40, 50, 60 hours a week to actually try to help the park, it is a little bit discouraging coming home from a 15 hour day to just seeing complaints. You all have every right to complain, but I think that not feeling any optimism about the park's future is crazy. For the most part, we're doing the best we can do with what we are given, and we'll just have to be patient unfortunately. You're welcome. I completely understand what you guys are going through to some degree. I've been in a management position for about a year and half now at my job, and dealing with complaints from employees and customers is probably one of the hardest parts of my job. I feel for you guys. Try being a cop. People complain when they think you aren't doing your job and they hate you even more when you do your job. You're either going somewhere too quick or you get there too late. People just hate us out of principle.
  14. HAH! True that. If it's a B&M the Intamin guys will complain that it's not forceful enough. If it's an Intamin, the B&M guys will complain about the down time and capacity issues.
  15. I don't think it's going to be an invert either, but who would complain after the success of Banshee??? I don't want to come off as a back-seat moderator here, but I feel this is a bad time and place to be trying to go behind the park's back and dig up info. We have a representative from the park right here with us, and the park is going well out of its way to create a fun and elaborate teaser campaign for the enjoyment of enthusiasts and park-watchers. We are a mere 24 days from the announcement and if one was to uncover everything now, I think it would just make the community look bad. There's a thin line somewhere between intense research and speculation and just flat-out undermining the park's PR work. I know at some point soon we'll probably figure it out just from the footers and prep work, but that's different in my book than exploiting a legal filing or web slip-up. I still feel really bad about how the Outlaw Run announcement got botched, even though that was pretty much entirely the park's fault for thinking they could merely not link directly to the announcement page and no one would find it. You're being a little too uptight. No one is leaking government secrets here... it's a theme park expansion. Part of the excitement is wondering how much we will figure out before the announcement is made. If someone cracks the case, so be it. There will still be speculation about the legitimacy of the leak.
  16. I will say that Diamondback is by far the least smooth B&M I've ridden. Because of that I prefer the four across seats. Interesting. It was closed last Thursday, too.
  17. I get why everyone feels as though a lot of B&M hypers aren't intense, but I don't understand where the lack of airtime comments come from. Although you only get ejector in the back of the train, there is great floater air to be had throughout the entire train. I never realized until our last trip that my wife really didn't understand the concept of g forces and air time. To her, she just held on until the ride was finished. I talked her through the last couple rides on Diamondback and Banshee. I squeezed her hand when to expect the positive G's (infrequently on Diamondback) and opened my hand when to expect the negative g's. I made her put her hands up and stick her feet out, too. It totally changed her perspective of roller coasters. Diamondback was an easy teaching tool for this with its massive amount of gentle floating air. (next time you have someone who isn't so into coasters, try to find a non geeky way to give them riding tips) I never get off of a B&M hyper thinking that it's one of the best rides I've ever ridden. That being said, they are all solid coasters that leave me feeling good and wanting more. I always look forward to riding them and I've never had a bad experience on a B&M hyper. They may not deliver the top thrill, but they always deliver a good time. The GP loves them, including my wife who I have dragged on over 100 coasters. The B&M hypers are always her favorites in the parks we go to.
  18. I saw what looked like an obvious large support near the right side of the picture on the right. I didn't look any harder, because it seems kind of pointless to think too much into the pictures at this point. I do however think the steel support is meant to be seen, because of how obvious it is. I was thinking the same thing. I don't think Holiday World is going to tease something like a family style invert this much. It will make them lose their credibility if they cry wolf.
  19. I agree with you. Screaming Eagle doesn't need to be changed. It's the same reason you don't buy a classic car and chop it to bits with modern modifications. Colossus was closed when I went to Magic Mountain (I think?), so I can't really voice an opinion on it. It would have been nice to see some big dollars dropped on TLC, but you know... it's six flags. The more I go to other parks the more I dislike Six Flags. Magic Mountain had to the biggest example of Six Flags'ism I've ever experienced. My wife and I couldn't wait to leave. Dear Magic Mountain: Thanks for the credits, I guess... You made a lot of other great points, but I think you're being a little too particular about this complaint... The long windy road to the toll booth doesn't hurt anything and I'm sure it may be needed at some point. It also may be mandated from Eurika or MoDOT. Although I kind of get your point, is that really where we want the park to spend their money? Roads aren't cheap, bro. Well... it worked for Dominos Pizza...? I couldn't agree more. I'd rather ride a good clone (Mr. Freeze & Batman) than a bad original coaster (The Boss). Although everyone knows how I feel about the backwards launch conversion, the GP digs it. It's more and more common knowledge that Batman is a clone, but 99% of your GP will never realize that rides like Mr. Freeze and American Thunder are clones. I also like how Mr. Freeze fits on the Island and it can be seen from most places in the park.
  20. I think a Valentines Day section could be done well. You could put a spin on it instead of being themed around cheesy love. "Cupid's Revenge" - Our new 200 Ft. Steel Launched Coaster, in bright red. (year right, lol)
  21. From what I could tell, most rides were at least in the half hour to forty-five minute waiting range. Nothing was ever walk on. It was worth the money for the Fast Lane premium passes, since we don't get a chance to come to this park that often. Banshee was doing a great job at cycling trains. Almost every time a train hit the pretzel knot another train was being dispatched. It was impressive. The crew did a great job. Most times you literally didn't even get a chance to secure your restraint yourself, because the employees were hustling and would beat you to it. Diamondback has also found its rhythm with its new seat belts. The ride operators clearly instructed everyone to get in their seat and buckle their seat belts without pulling down their restraints. The ride operators would announce loudly that we were on a forty-five second challenge. I saw Bud and Corona, but I don't specifically remember seeing Coors or Miller, but they were likely there. They also had Moerlein Brewery beers available and they were encouraging people to sample in the beer garden. We personally didn't try anything else. We've made a habit of drinking Yuengling when we travel east, since it's not available in Illinois/St. Louis. It's highly sought after in my area. Let me tell you that a night ride on Beast after several rounds of Yuengling made the ride pretty fast. lol Another thing I forgot to mention is that this is the second time we felt that King's Island has a very pleasant crowd. We saw very few unpleasant people. I work as a police officer in a fairly rough neighborhood and my wife is a social worker. That being the case, the last thing we want to see when we go to a park are more of the same people we have to deal with on a daily basis. Not to say that I ever see any shootings or anyone slinging rocks at parks... but unruly people in general. The day I find someone ODing on heroin in a park bathroom is probably the day where I just stay home for the rest of my life. ...back on topic.. We're going to Dollywood in July. We had such a good return trip to KI that I'm honestly not looking forward to Dollywood nearly as much as I had been. Kings Island is just one more reason why we never hesitate to choose Cedar Fair. (especially over six flags)
  22. I just got home from a trip to the park, yesterday. Out of the past 29 years, this was by far my best birthday. The park was vibrant. Employees were excited to be there and Banshee was cycling trains like crazy. My wife and I were worried about heavy crowds with the Spirit Song Festival, to the point where we almost cancelled the trip. Crowds were a little on the heavy side, but we pre-ordered two Fast Lane premium passes, so we didn't wait longer than a few minutes for every ride. I loved Banshee. I ended up riding a total of eight times, which was plenty for me. Out of the seven Batman Clones, Montu, Patriot, Raptor, Silver Bullet, and Afterburn, I think I liked Banshee the best. However, it's been around fifteen years since I've ridden Montu. I will also say that it was the most rough B&M invert I've ever ridden, BUT that's a good compromise for its intensity, as long as it doesn't get any worse. That being said, Diamondback had quite a bit of rattle as well, and was probably the roughest B&M Hyper I've ridden out of Goliath, Intimidator, and Raging Bull. (I think I'm forgetting one??) Overall, it was a great day, which kept getting better as we started to indulge in Yuengling's throughout the evening. I snagged my 150th credit on Banshee. I liked getting another Milestone credit at KI, since Diamondback was my 100th, two years ago. I will say although this is only my second time at the park, it may be my favorite park. My wife and I really enjoy the park... and we love the abundance of places that sell beer. Did I mention the park has Yuenling?!?! My only picture of the day:
