Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Hey guys, I think we have an arrival P.S. IMO the track is not 90 degrees after the MCBR because the track would have to curve out more at the bottom, something that the trains probably could not handle at such a short height, or maybe wear and tear? -

Good question, when Gatekeeper was late in construction Cedar Point put out renderings of what the surrounding area/plaza were going to look like in detail. I'm hoping the same thing will happen very soon. -

There is so much mystery behind this ride and I love it. Nobody knows how it's going to ride, how its going to look in the summer season, how it will change the feel of the surrounding area. I just can't wait to see the finished product. -

To answer my question from a few pages back: Tony said on Periscope today that their WILL be safety nets over the pathways. However, he did not clarify whether it would be installed on the paths like the path under Raptor is, or if it will be installed on the track. -

Am i mistaken or is there a structure going up near Blue Streak? The Sandusky Register had an article recently about the station being castle themed but it looked very modern in the POV & Birdseye videos. Maybe there is something we are missing here? -

Thats partially why i vote a ride like Fahrenheit, those corkscrews are gorgeous and IMO would be perfect for the area. -

Cedar Point could do a dual loading version of the Premier Skyloop and I would be A-OKAY with that! 1.) We know Cedar Point would make it record breaking, which would make it amazing... 2.) Doing a dual loading (sliding) station similar to what they did with Zombie Ride would keep it from having to bad of capacity. 3.) It would be a fun unique ride for Cedar Point. It would be like a full circuit Wicked Twister! I vote yes! I vote a coaster like Fahrenheit that interacts with the midway like Corkscrew! -

I have only been on one eurofighter which was Mystery Mine at Dollywood, it was definitely well themed but i don't remember it being that well of a ride. I actually found it to be a little rough. -

I wonder if Cedar Point will install those nets under the track that passes over pathways? -

The ride was designed just like every other coaster was designed under Kinzel+Ouimet Build the coaster a little bit bigger than its predeccesors and add an element or two and the people will come. Rather a very successful business model. -

Will anyone truly miss a splashdown? Its visually appealing but what else? You don't get wet and without the water its just a straight piece of track, if not having one means an airtime hill im perfectly fine with it as long as its not as weak as Gatekeeper's Camelback. It's good for theming but that's obviously not what Cedar Point is aiming for. -

Yes, enthusiasts that bitch about it looking boring will try it as well, and the GP is going to eat it alive. -

I'm just going to say you're wrong. In 2013, you wouldn't have had to wait outside the station for Mantis, except on the busiest days... let alone a 2 hour wait. When Valravn has an hour wait, that's a ton of people not in line for Maverick, Dragster, Millennium, GateKeeper, or whatever other roller coaster you want to ride. Unless you think the ride has drastically added to the number of people in the park. More options = more dispersed crowd. Dick Kinzel stated that new attractions had almost no effect on the lines. "People came to ride coasters" when the lines are long for the coasters and a new one comes in town, that means that even more people that want to ride coasters come to Sandusky to ride the new one so it essentially stays the same. The line wait changes we see vary by how far into the season we are. Some parts of the season are more popular for visitors, that is why i look at statistics before I plan a trip (What times of the season most people visit per year). Valravn is not going to shorten the lines on anything unless its the beggining of the day and people haven't gotten over to MF or Maverick. Well... Because "America's Roller Coast" -

clearly cedar fair hasn't looked at the worlds of fun, valleyfair, great america,or dorney forums. Not true, Dick Kinzel stated in the book he had it set up to where Cedar Point would get a major attraction every two years and the smaller parks would get a "major attraction" every four years up until 2008 (market crash). I think people have a wrong idea of how this works, CP brings in way more revenue than any other CF park. CF isn't some mystical Santa that looks at whose been naughty and nice and passes out coasters to who they want. If people are not buying enough tickets, buying enough merchandise, and buying food, than you will have to wait for a coaster.
