  1. Hey TyRush, Glad you got to go behind the scenes at Skyride (and other rides ), it truly is one of the most unique rides at the park. The ride is so old (2nd oldest in the park) that it reminds me of an old car, the engineering behind it is so simple that it is genius. Also crazy how reliable Skyride is considering it is 55 years old, I feel like you could leave the wheel on for days at a time and it could still be perfectly fine to run. It's crazy how the ride hardly ever had any mechanical issues over the season, and if it did it was always a minor issue. Also, It was always cool watching that massive counterweight move up and down when transferring on/off cabins or going from running 26 cabins to 37 cabins and vice versa. The counterweight is easily the size of an elevator and I wish I could have gotten a chance to go in the counterweight room this season. Did you get a chance to go in there?
  2. Hahaha, it's Intamin... Mack doesn't even have a motobike style coaster line (like Intamin, Zamperla, or Vekoma). If you're saying Mack because SeaWorld has recently worked with Mack (all the JTA's, Cobra's Curse, Manta), I'll point out that they've also worked with Intamin (Cheetah Hunt, Falcon's Fury). They've also worked with B&M, Premier, GCI, Zierer, and Moser in the past 5 years as well... That is honestly exactly why I said that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  3. So is there proof this will be an Intamin? I'm almost certain this will be a Mack.
  4. That explains the lack of any notable forces. But if you're riding a B&M that isn't real does it still rattle? Only from the turbulence from crossing over into the Twilight Zone. Interstellar roller coaster travel pulls excessive G's, explaining why the newer restraints were needed.
  5. GUYS. Someone seems to have spotted Valravn.. wait no.. the picture is low resolution and pixelated. It must be fake, obviously photoshopped. This whole time we have been riding a coaster that... IsNt EvEn ReAl *Insert Twilight Zone theme song*
  6. Thank you Bill! We had a ton of fun, Working Skyride was an incredibly unique experience. It was quite the workout! Such a unique ride, my favorite thing about it was running into people that worked the ride years ago (Ran into a guy that worked it in 1971). Amazing to think about how many different generations of people have been on that platform in its 55 years to experience working that beautiful piece of engineering. About the crew jackets, they are beautiful.. Can't wait to receive mine in the mail!
  7. Found this awesome picture that some of our crew and myself took together earlier in the season. Thought I would share it with you guys, and also give a shout out to the rest of Ride Operations at Cedar Point for doing a phenomenal job from open to close. These people work hard to safely and efficiently give everyone an awesome time daily and nightly, and working here wouldn't be near as fun without being able to give the guests the best day ever. This season was unforgettable and amazing and i can't wait for 2017!
  8. The first one...besides Kentucky Rumbler, Thunderhead, and American Thunder. Ah, I don't really consider Kentucky or Tennessee Midwest. Most people probably wouldn't either. I guess you got me with Evil Knievil, so okay, 2nd GCI in the Midwest. West TN is midsouth, East TN is southeast... there ya go.
  9. Yup! I start training and commissioning Skyride tomorrow. I hope this season goes well, commons is.. interesting. Wish me luck!
  10. Well, let's not go crazy here. I like Flight of Fear, but I would rather ride either of the U.S. Space Mountains. Flight of Fear is amazing. Great ride.
  11. On a serious note Aquatrax looks so badass, i would love to see one built!
  12. If i'm not mistaken Cedar Fair said in a USA Today article that they would test the waters with GCI and RMC... I may be hopeful but don't count out RMC just yet
  13. No by Cedar Fair's logic they will give Kings Island a record breaking gigacoaster and then give nothing to the other parks. Please do not start this, Cedar Fair doesn't just pull coasters out of a magic hat and give them to its favorite parks. If a park brings in more revenue it will have more money to make an investment. When Dick Kinzel was CEO he had it to where the larger revenue in-taking parks got a major attraction every two years and the smaller parks got one every four years (there is a reason for that). These parks are all owned by Cedar Fair, why would they want to be unfair and deprive parks of attractions? If you think Cedar Fair is being unfair than go to Worlds of Fun or Valley Fair or whatever and buy tickets and merchandise and bring in more revenue.
  14. Ok, so its 5:43 AM CT and i see some awesome lights testing on the lift... look similar to Raptor's old lift hill lights (the light that runs up the lift and restarts at the bottom) but this looks way better.
  15. I hope that is not what that means. That is a great ride for families, and was my favorite ride as a kid... It was way more awesome under Nickelodeon but still a great ride nonetheless.
  16. NoOoOoOoO!!! what have i done lol jk Ill just leave on the 6th or drive all 12 hours on the 7th, no biggie.
  17. How busy will the park be on the 9th? I'm going to leave Memphis on the 7th, drive six hours to Lexington and stay the night, and then drive 6 hours the next day to Sandusky... Spend the 9th at the park.. And process in on the 10th. Super nervous about my first season working at Cedar Point!
  18. Whatever they do with the lights i hope its colorful and exciting and not just white.
