  1. If any of you go to Kings Island before the season ends, Valravn is 223 ft., Diamondback is 230 ft. That is a good comparison for scale reference.
  2. I rode The Beast and Diamondback in June of 2013 as the fireworks began, back to back nights. Awesome experience
  3. I don't think bringing up RMC makes anyone a panzie, can you really blame them? RMC is awesome. If they keep the beast the same, ill be happy. If they put a fast buck wild RMC through the woods, ill still be happy. But if the beast stays the same, I think we can agree that Kings Island should make the money they spend on retracking it worth while and atleast let GCI put new track on it so it can zoom through the woods with awesome twists and turns instead of hitting all of these trim breaks. At the end of the day its all preference.
  4. There was an employee at the front of the line that let those people out, so i dont think they snuck in.
  5. Not really, it would suck history wise but a disfavor for the industry? Nah, RMC is the opposite. Retracking and trim breaks obviously isnt cutting it anymore. (For me atleast) I would love a new wooden RMC through the woods. But, serious question. Every Cedar Fair and Six Flags park i have been to this is usually what happens: The minute the park closes, an employee puts a trash bin in front of the entrance to the line, and everyone that made it in line prior gets to ride and whenever the line empties is when the ride is done for the night. Well, tonight was different. 7:00 hit and a trash bin was placed in front of Banshee, i got in line for the front row, and there were still people in line awaiting to enter the station. One of the operators decides they were going to stop early, they announce that the next train will be the last ride and they made everyone that wasnt in the station walk back through the line so the employee in the front had to move the trash can so they could exit ( these people waited 45 minutes to an hour). Everyone that was behind another load full of people had to scramble for other seats instead of their seat of choice (including me). I asked the guy why this was happening, i was being perfectly nice. He decided to be very rude about it and said "This is the last train of the night, get on the train please". I felt this was very unfair to other park guests, and i want to know why this decision was made, has there been a policy change? Or is this just unproffesional laziness?
  6. Had the pleasure of watching a mechanic put new wheels on Banshee today, really cool! Rode it for my first time yesterday, what a kickass ride! Its action packed the whole time, its my favorite of the new B&M's. I hope GCI retracks The Beast.
  7. This is where things are dead. The announcent has been made, now we sit on the forums staring at piles of dirt. I WANNA SEE ERECTED STEEL.
  8. Off topic, but has anyone seen the new one rail coaster concept by RMC? I do think Cedar Point will eventually get an RMC, but im not sure they would RMC Meanstreak. I think if Cedar Point were to get an RMC it would be built from the ground up to break records. I feel like Cedar Point is just waiting so they can get the best out of RMC because then they will be able to evaluate all of the other designs and design a monster. The question for me is, I wonder which style of coaster they would go with because RMC is innovating some game changing stuff. So if you believe Cedar Point will get an RMC in the future, could you imagine Cedar Point going with a single rail design if it is succesful?
  9. It varies by person, but when I rode Gatekeeper I just remember it somehow just not doing it for me. I don't know what it was and I'm not gonna make an excuse for what it is, but i just didn't get any exitement or a rush like you do on Maverick or MF. EDIT: I know I'm comparing completely different coasters
  10. It's way simpler than that at Cedar Point my ride placement after I was hired went something like this. Manager: Would you like to work with more children or adults? Me: Adults Manager: Are you afraid of heights, if need be could you climb steps on on lift hill Me: I'm not afraid of heights, I'd have no problem waking up a lift. Manager: Would you like to work on a slow paced, medium paced, or fast pased ride? Me: Fast Paced! Manager: Ok, I'm placing you on Millennium Force, does that sound good! Me: YES! YES! YES! Yessssssssssssss! Ahem, yes that works for me. Hell yeah! that makes me so much more excited to go. Do you enjoy the dorms or do you prefer an apartment?
  11. Thank you! I love working for Cedar Point, I'm happy to see it shows. How long did it take you to move up to Millennium Force? I'm about to start school for the amusement park industry and i'm moving from Memphis, TN to Sandusky this summer to work at the point. Not only is it one of my dream jobs but I feel like it would do me some good for my resume. Obviously, I would love to operate rides as a machinery geek, but I'm sure you have to start somewhere and move up. I'd be happy to work anywhere at the point anyways though.
  12. I think the station and a new entrance/midway is a good replacement for extensive theming. The station looks like a architectural beauty! Also don't forget we won't know other ride characteristics (lights, effects, etc) until later in the offseason probably.
  13. Again, you can tell who hasn't ridden a DM by their comments.
  14. You can tell who has never ridden a DM by their comments. This coaster is going to be top five in the park, its not "going to be a coaster like Rougarou and Gatekeeper" This coaster will provide a great ride experience... And it will draw the lines away from the classics opening day
  15. I've seen someone post that same exact exaggeration on forums somewhere (not sure if it was this one) Pretty sure this guy just stole someones joke and was trolling on Youtube, or its the same guy and hes on acid
  16. CP Rundown just posted a picture on facebook of a crane behind the wall.
  17. The early leak said 223 foot drop. The new permit posted 230. I wouldn't expect any higher than that. It's going to be a beast. We will know all details on Wednesday. Best drop in the park has to be Maverick. GateKeeper and Millennium are both amazing as well. Pretty sure the memo leaked a 223 ft drop and the permit is for 230ft (how tall the structure is), if both are accurate that means the drop hits the bottom of the immelman at 7ft off the ground.
  18. There's more to it than that though, especially with GADV. This is what the park has done in the past 8 years: Removed: Removed Chiller Removed GASM Removed Rolling Thunder Closed off entire section of the park past chiller, which put other flats out of commission while they also removed the Intamin 1st Gen Freefall Some rides that were removed (Chaos) were changed to smoking sections rather than replaced with new rides Removed the giant Teepee Added: The Dark Knight - indoor wild mouse The Green Lantern - relocated standup coaster Bizzaro - Medusa is repainted and some of the theming is literally turned upside down, sometimes they turn the fire on too Zumanjaro - Drop tower added to the side of already-built Kingda Ka Safari RIde - The park changed the already existing safari into one that leaves through controlled vehicle from the park and billed it as a new ride. There was an outpost stop added with an upcharged zipline. They didn't add the monkeys back. Larson loop bulled as a coaster S&S 4D coaster that isn't as good as the Intamin version (yes I've ridden both). The capacity and waits for the SFFT version were consistently horrible. That's off the top of my head, sure I've missed something but hopefully not that major. I personally have not bought a SF season pass because I haven't had a reason to go back to GADV (I live in NYC) in the past 3 years and I only go to 1 or 2 other SF parks each summer. My GP friends don't ever feel compelled to go back, usually the saying is "maybe if they add a new big ride, it'll be worth the lines and admission price". When have you last felt compelled to go back to GADV Rob? Do you want to NJ for this ride? Yes there's obviously a lot of investment that was put into the park prior to these past 8 years but really nothing great has been done since Obama's been in office (must be his fault ). I personally get my fair share of credits from travelling for work and then staying a few extra days to go to parks like SFFT, Alton Towers and Thorpe, BGT, etc. And I do one day want to go back and relive Nitro and El Toro and Ka. But to see what's been added to the park recently, or lack thereof, has just been disappointing considering what parks like SFMM and SFGA receive, and everybody here would agree that GADV was once grouped with those parks in terms of SF money allotment. That they have to tear down an entire waterfront theater space for a ride that has a smaller footprint than a Togo heartline twister also confuses me. Here's to hoping for those dueling launched wingriders that reuse Chiller's station, theme to Batman vs. Superman, and dominate that aforementioned closed off area of the park in two years I guess... This is EXACTLY the kind of "self-entitled, obnoxious, stupid coaster enthusiast" drivel I'm talking about! Listen to yourself!!! The park has actually IMPROVED quite a bit and you're making rides like Zumanjaro sound like nothing because it's on the "already built Kingda Ka." Really?!??! And you're complaining about monkeys?!?!?! And teepees!?!?! Seriously, you're an idiot. Please get off our forums. it is just an opinion. Not a popular one, but it surely doesen't make him an idiot IMO. I like the addition of this coaster, I prefer this version over Intamin's.
  19. So, just the trains? Or is the track going to be altered?
  20. Ha, are you serious? Even if the park was ONLY getting a frisbee it would still be a great addition. Have you ever been on a frisbee? A frisbee is one of the best flats around, and they are also adding two other great rides. IMO i bet you haven't even been on a frisbee.
  21. Try turning the layout another way to see how it fits.
  22. Wow that area is way bigger than i thought.
  23. Hearing trucks are moving into the construction zone w/ "people walking around" If anyone can take pics to confirm please do.
  24. This has been explained time and time again. Is there really a need for another explenation of this topic? People are going to believe what they want, they will realize they were wrong come announcement time.
