Aahahahaha! Ahahahahaha! Ahahahahaha! Bulls on parade! 140 feet! Pocket full of shells! 70 mph! AHAHAHAHA. AHAHAHAHAHA. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ok, I'm done now. . . . . . . . NOT! -
The stupidest thing I ever did...was when I dyed my hair pink in 9th Grade. Everyone at school laughed at me and called me bad names, and after a little while, I got in trouble with the principal for violation of dress code. You can bet my parents were mad at me for that. So, I ended up having to dye it back to brown...which was pretty hard. It took a lot of effort to get the pink out, but I did it in the end. But it's not the exact same brown color that I had naturally before all this happened. Sure is funny to tell about on this site, though!

Yes. Do you ever suck on the ice cubes in your drink at restaurants?

I couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I saw a Rock 'n Roller Coaster train launching on the news channel. I found out that yet another boy died on a Disney ride. Goodie. Man, this is like, the third Disney-related death this year. If word gets out about Disney rides causing boys to die in childhood, it ain't gonna be good for business, that's for sure! So the boy had an undiagnosed condition? Yep, that was my guess. I could see FoF or Hulk causing a heart attack on a "reasonably healthy" person, but RnrC is less intense than those two rides IMO... To respond to the issue of Gs on the ride, yes, acording to rcdb it does pull 5Gs, which is surprising, given that when I rode it I thought the ride was pretty forceless except for the launch. I REALLY hope they don't end up taming it down the way they did with Mission Space...I like RnrC a lot. It has to be one of my favorite Disney rides, mainly due to the music and theming. It was good to see rides like Rock 'n Roller Coaster make the Top 10 lists of coaster enthusiasts...Disney rides COULD make a big showing. While the actual ride experience isn't anything to write home about, it's decent and can thrill a lot of what's out there. Besides, someone had to make a park featuring "the first roller coaster to be based around music"! Super "Sheesh, doesn't Disney ever get a break around here?" Dasher

Scenery and Theming
Superdasher replied to BiCoastal Kid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Of course I like theming! There are some rides that I don't like the theming that much on (such as Silver Bullet's mining theme), but otherwise, theming and scenery is the second most important thing after the coasters and credits themselves. I mean, why call it a THEME park if it doesn't even have any theme to it? -
This is an interesting fact about that Vekoma Boomerang clone found at just about every park in the US. I consulted RCDB, and found this out: A standard Vekoma Boomerang pulls 5.2Gs, while an Invertigo pulls 5 exactly, and a Deja Vu pulls 4.5. Cool, huh? Note though, that I am unsure as to which row this value was recorded in. My best guess is that it hits 5.2Gs in either the front row during the Cobra Roll going forwards, or in the back row during the Vertical Loop going backwards. I've ridden a Boomerang in both of these locations, but I never would've taken any notice of this if it hadn't been for RCDB. I guess I'm pretty insensitve to positive Gs - with the exception of powered launches and the Pretzel Loop on SUF, I don't find positive Gs as noticeable as negative Gs (aka airtime). But it's still a cool fact!
-
I've never been on Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris myself, but I've heard all sorts of rave reviews about how it is different and intense, and has inversions and a unique Hulk-style uphill launch. According to Rcdb, the ride has three inversions, the third of which is a really weird inversion called a "Tongue". But not everybody seems to classify it as being a complete inversion. Is it kind of like Tatsu's "Egg Turn" then? How does the layout compare to say, Hulk or Flight of Fear? The launch is probably not as powerful as Hulk (although I could be wrong), but what's the layout like? Does it feature the usual circles and "hyperspace drop" featured on the other Space Mountains in addition to the launch and inversions, or is it more like the second half of FoF? Super "Sorry for all the questions, I need to decide if plane tickets to Paris are worth it" Dasher

SLCs are officially dubbed as being THE useless coaster type out there. They're not very different from B&M Inverts, meaning that they can't deliver any real thrill that a good B&M Invert can't deliver. Add in the VERY awkward restraints most of them have, and the fact that they're extremely rough and have headrests that maximize head bashing, and SLCs are biting the dust in every aspect. Martinb, the Jubilee Odyssey has a unique layout, is not too rough, and is considered the "king" of pretty much every SLC out there. Or at least that's what I've heard (I've never been to England to ride it). As for the SLC clone, it pulls some good Gs in the rollover, if that says anything. Put it this way, there's nothing a standard SLC can deliver (apart from headaches) that Batman The Ride can't deliver ten times better. Only ride SLCs if you dislike all other coasters in the world, or if you're a "credit whore". This Vekoma clone really doesn't have much to offer. Ride them once for the credit, then move on. Super "I think even a Boomerang is a better ride than a cloned SLC" Dasher

Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
Superdasher replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow. Either Cedar Fair is really smart or really stupid. It's very possible that they're going to make the parks more fun to vist, and it's also very possible that the Paramount Parks will all become shadows of their former selves, but I'll be prepared. You saw what happened to Knott's, right? So since CF is the new owner of five well-known parks, what does this mean? Where will we be going from here? Well, one of the things that worries me is this: Cedar Fair had to remove quite a bit of Six Flags copyright theming when it bought SFWOA (which is now Geauga Lake). X-Flight and Villain weren't affected, but BKF became Dominator and S:UE became Steel Venom. Like Six Flags, Paramount has copyrighted theming. What happens when CF takes over all of this? Does Top Gun become Thunderhawk and Rugrats Reptar become Scooby Doo's Wacky Flying Machine or something like that? Also, what happens to the park operations? Will CF be able to go ahead and add new rides so that they have rides in the Paramount parks built by them? Will the new pass system now be effective at Paramount parks as well as other CF parks? I gotta agree, the Pepsi change is lame, as I'm a Coke fan. But in my opinion, the worst thing about this change would be if they end up having to demolish the Flight of Fear rides because of copyright reasons and it's too difficult to retheme. That would totally suck...FoF was a good ride. I don't know what I think of this, but it's bound to be an exciting year. I have to confess I did not see this coming. Super "Hope CF knows what they're doing" Dasher -
OMG! A B&M flyer that is NOT "forceless"! Too bad I wasn't there. And yes, I kinda expected the usual "antics" at the camp-out and media day: "Access denied! This section of the camp is for Camp Awesome members only!" "Ow, stop poking me, I'm trying to enjoy my Tatsu dream here!" "Four people per row please! Don't push! Don't push! You're all going to ride!" "I call front row! Out of my way, I called it first!" "Think we should pee when we go through the egg turn, just like the water dummies?" Stuff like that going on all the time. There's 200 crazy people there, what do you expect? Great update, looks like fun. Super "Best thing for me to do now is get down to SFMM and ride it myself, huh?"

^I thought he meant that the switch to turn the GameCube on was the problem with it or something, but had simply made up the laser disc cleaner story to fool his younger brother before putting his plan into effect.
-
Is that so? I saw him plug in a GameCube and attach the controllers and stuff (in the black and white scene at the beginning), but I didn't see the switch. I also thought that when he didn't answer the younger brother's question, "Where is it?" it was a dead giveaway that he wasn't being truthful. Still a good movie...would've been better if it really HAD been his GameCube, as I thought was the case when I first saw it. Super "Takes some of the fun out of the trick" Dasher
-
This is a movie designed to make you feel sorry for the younger brother but also understanding for the older one. Basically, two brothers start out in a fight over a broken GameCube. Then after they agree to go to someone for help fixing it (probably a made-up lie to hide the evil plan), the younger brother lets the older one carry his GameCube to the car. That was the critical error, and the older brother was able to take the GameCube out to the driveway...and then destroy it...right in front of his younger brother's eyes. And what's more, he lies about it later ("It wasn't yours!"). Keep in mind there's a bit of language (if I remember correctly). http://www.ebaumsworld.com/2006/01/gamecubesmash.html Personally, I get along well with my younger brother, so I can't try this on him. But maybe some of you can. Super "Bear in mind that I accept no responsibility for consequences you may and probably will suffer whilst attempting to imitate the actions found in this movie" Dasher

Yeah, that video is a good one. I like when the kid starts smacking the monitor, as if the monster is real or something, and then when he starts crying, his face is all pink and teared up...and the camera person makes DAMN SURE the viewers know that too. It is pretty cruel to do that, but it's funny just the same. I didn't hear the "Papa laughing his ass off" though...I heard the scream and the crying afterward but that was it.

Wow, that must totally suck. Especially with the death of the 4 year old last summer. As sad as this is, however, I cannot help but blame it on the stupid choices of the riders themselves. The news reports I have read said that it was likely that the woman was suffering from a condition...in which case she shouldn't have been riding in the first place! The reason the little boy last summer passed out on the ride was because the G-forces were too much for a kid of his age to handle! It is the same with people who are in poor mental/phsyical health. Pay attention to Disney's warnings - they don't repeat them over and over to show off their skills with computers and collaboration with Gary Senise, they repeat them to warn away people who might be seriously affected by the ride! In fact, I bet right now Disney is saying..."Why oh WHY can't people be more sensible?!" I actually like Mission Space a lot. Personally, I loved the Gs during liftoff, and the button simulation made it all the more exciting. I didn't get sick at all. But then again, I followed the instructions. It's too bad that the ride is getting charged for causing deaths of people who shouldn't have ridden in the first place...

What Cedar Point Coaster are you?
Superdasher replied to Superdasher's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Not always! I chose 205 for the last question (the height of Magnum) and I got Raptor. -
As I was taking quizzes here, I stumbled upon another roller coaster quiz, this time where you are one of eight possible Cedar Point coasters.
