  1. I don't know if I'm the only one, but it seems that the forums go "down" on me on a regular basis. It seems to occur for several minutes then goes back to normal for a little bit, and then goes down again. I get "Sorry, but this board is currently unavailable. Please try again later." error messages fairly regularly. I can barely view topics or post stuff.
  2. Okay.... Legend going up the lift A Boomerang inducing pain in its riders
  3. Here's something you can't do on the GCN and DS versions If you have a SD card and a reader for your computer, you can copy the camera photos to your computer. I am mostly on in evenings, usually between 8-10pm EST At the moment I just have the bare essentials Here's my avatar, outside his exclusive beach-front property. Not very big at the moment, but things will come
  4. I still have this park, just that I've been busy with other stuff (i.e. work). I would also have to reinstall RCT2 since I'm on a new machine and haven't played RCT2 at all recently. There is no need to bug me about it via PM's. I'm going to take the Duke Nukem Forever approach and say "When it's done"
  5. Name: William Town: Gatorton Friend Code: 0645-9381-4027 Fruit: Orange My gate is open right now! I do not have Wii Speak, but I've got a keyboard hooked up Edit: I have Wii Speak now, but I still have my keyboard
  6. While I don't like to bump my own topics, I have recently been experimenting with HDR imaging. In this case, I shot three pictures for each image, one at two stops below and one at three stops above the original image. I then used a trial version of Photoshop to merge them together. The output depends on how you convert the HDR image to a conventional 8 bit image. PC monitors cannot accurately display HDR images in their full spectrum. To overcome this, it means having to perform an algorithm to convert it into something the monitor can display You do NOT need an expensive camera to do HDR. In fact, you could even do it with a decent camera phone. Waterfall Swan Swamp Thing...You make my head bang! The Starliner lift. You can almost make out the train on the lift from the three exposures. I would like to see this ride find a good home. Florida doesn't have much in the woodies department Bunny The lake Almost looks like the brochure Gardens Gardens Gardens Gazebo Gardens Gardens Ferris wheel, Galaxy Spin, and Bootleg Flyers The Ferris wheel The entrance tent Side view of Buddha Buddha. Does Terrance have this credit?
  7. I think Dan should be posting in this thread. E-mail him at mrt0ad13@aol.com!
  8. They used the wrong form of "its" Good pictures otherwise!
  9. It's been quite a while since I last posted a trip report (not counting my Curiosities thread), as most of it is stuff that other people cover already. When Cypress Gardens announced they were closing the rides, I notified the person in charge of running an amusement park group on campus (especially since I didn't have any of the credits). We ended up going today, arriving not long after opening. I also shot a lot of video, as well as stitches and some HDR exposures, and may post them here. Thanks for reading. As for things that can be easily moved, this bathroom looks like it could be one of them We finished off with another ride on Starliner The plastic food on the seat does not look very appetizing, especially the fries We saw this Chevy parked over in the rides section The banyan tree Buddha These looked like gravestones from a distance. Can we expect to see Starliner and Triple Hurricane on these in the future? Artsy shot It's one of those superheroes! I wonder if he has X-ray vision It doesn't look quite like it does in the brochure What will happen here? These two were making out. I'm serious. The one on the left kept trying to put its wing around the other one. Let's see the "beautiful birds" then... Some of the gardens [insert Cedar Fair joke here] Noted! Big rodents! This one looks a little hung over Welcome to Wallaby World! The pirate show is so cheesy that it's funny. Plus they make fun of FSU! We need some of these signs around campus I guess they aren't as heavy as they look [insert Samuel Jackson reference here] Although this one might be an enthusiast The park has animals too (and I don't mean the coaster enthusiasts) A lot of parks have these shirts Cypress Gardens has a boomerang, but this one doesn't bash your head in. Hey Erik, been down to Cypress lately? Random overview shot Artsy shot Another shot of Rampage Reminds me of Stricker's, but not as smokey It is supposedly painted orange and blue because they are the colors of the Florida Gators. Why did it have to be so rough? The park had a Cedar Fair-like rain policy in which everything closed during the rain. Usually most rides open up relatively quickly (being that Florida storms are over within minutes), though Swamp Thing was down for a bit longer This is probably the worst of the Vekoma junior hang'n'bangs I've been on. Swamp Thing You guessed it The Disk-O, made by... Who knows where these will go, if they go anywhere The infamous "bootleg flyers" The train ride is a nice small ride, though it sounds more like a diesel than a steam train The second of many We did not spin at all, probably because we weren't weighted too well Galaxy Spin is a regular spinning mouse This park is known as a "Zamperla Showroom" and for good reason. In addition, many of them can be loaded onto trailers and moved to new homes without much difficulty There is someone riding this in the front, and she definitely was not a kid. We did ride and get the credit of course Triple Hurricane. When we rode, we went around three times because nobody was waiting Starliner and Rampage The line for Starliner earlier in the day They still have some Halloween decorations up--and Christmas stuff too $10 for admission Unfortunately, the Flying Island was among the closed attractions, along with the drop tower. All the coasters were operating though Parking was $7 The poor man's parking lot tram The "Adventure Park" subheading may be gone soon But Cypress doesn't have a castle (not even a tiny one) No. Umm? I wonder what's going to happen with all these billboards Gainesville is about 2.5 hours from Winter Haven and we noticed a few things along the way, such as these two gas stations (although there was a Kangaroo station here in Gainesville selling for $1.97 and Gainesville is usually expensive)
  10. According to Screamscape: A sad day for Scott, Jow, and many others. Unfortunately, it looks like it's headed for the scrap heap I was fortunate enough to ride it earlier this year during the TPR trip I shot a few pictures and video during its last months of operation Had America voted for PMW, this Schwarzkopf masterpiece would probably live on!
  11. The ongoing battle between Pirates and Ninjas continues. Hi-ya!
  12. -Screaming girls in the row in front -Smokers smoking outside smoking areas (especially when they think they can get away with smoking in the queue line. You can have all the cancer you want, but don't share it with me. Please!) -Bouncing basketballs -Getting separated from a group- not the park's fault, but it happens when it's very crowded -Slow operations
  13. I haven't started on anything yet, but I was considering: Piranhas on the Banana (Lisebergbanan) Domo on Dominator (you've probably seen Domo. He eats kittens) ACErs on Racer (but someone else had the same idea) Laser Snake Horse on Fire[hawk] (or Fire Dragon) Ninjas on Winjas
  14. Try and get a FastPass for Big Thunder as soon as possible. They run out early in the day and the line for that ride can get really long
  15. This was my first Halloween event at any park, and while I am difficult to "scare", it was still fun. The shows are good though, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them bring Rocky Horror back next year. A few pictures from HHN, Rocky Horror, Bill & Ted, and a few night shots. Mummy at night MIB at night Long exposure Simpsons at night Twister pre-show with lights on Twister's queue with the lights on Pumpkins don't grow on trees OMG! Could these be supports for the new coaster? They never said anything about this being a "family friendly" event "Iron Man" Bill and Ted I'll make you a man If you haven't lost your Rocky Horror virginity, this could be your opportunity It's astounding. Time is fleeting. Madness takes its toll. Hey Janet, you beat the other girls to the bride's bouquet.
  16. I should have posted these last week, but I never got around to it. I took a few pictures at the park last week The bridge is used as an entrance and exit to the Dragons. They are now part of the Jurassic Park section The new Dragons entrance. The lockers have been moved over to area in the left of the picture Oh, yeah. Poor Unicorn I know I've seen it somewhere... The "new" Dragons entrance. Now where have I seen that sign before? One of the HP buildings Poor Unicorn
  17. 1. How many videos to do see above? 1, 2, or 3? All three 2. Which browser are you using? Firefox 3.0.3 in Windows XP x64 3. Do the videos stream ok? They seem to
  18. I can see only the first video Windows XP x64, Firefox 3.03 IE 6 - Don't see any of them (but then again, I never use IE and don't bother with making sure Flash works in it)
  19. Those are spam threads. Do not respond to them. Instead, click the button to report them so they can be deleted.
  20. I was also in the park last night, and this was my first HHN experience. Got to hit all eight houses, as well as Bill and Ted and Rocky Horror. Had a good time, and may post some quality pictures soon. I also ran into Erik, but nobody else from TPR.
  21. Being that I-75 passes through Gainesville, I might have a slim chance without having to go somewhere.
  22. It's been a while since I updated this, but I got around to it. This section is going to focus on the many "death machines" encountered. Being that we passed through the Netherlands (home of Vekoma), there were three SLC's (could have been four) and a lot of multiloopers. MPG_Freefall.wmv I finish this with a video of the "Nutcracker" Intamin freefall at Movie Park Germany It's a Vekoma multilooper, but it's made worse by the fact that it's not easy to take on a brace position before seeing certain elements The station It's based on the Joules Verne story of using a cannon to launch vehicles into space. It is quite nicely themed Space Mountain at EuroDisney is also up there You would probably need a wheelchair after riding this thing. The Morgan trains don't help much either The sandbags in the trains aren't a good sign Walygator also has Anaconda. Like the one at Kings Dominion, it's not a smooth ride. I haven't figured out the theming of this one, and how it ties into the "Gator" paint job. Arrow trains here Walygator had a "Florida Gator" multilooper The ride also has a special "viewing area" The ride lacks airgates, and the train restraints have to be unlocked manually, like some of the old Arrow mine trains For those who are sad about Corkscrew at AT closing, some to Germany and Super-Wirbel (or simply just go to Flamingoland) It was equipped with video cameras It's SoB's little brother It's one of a few remaining Cyclone clones (over the last few years, Texas Cyclone, Psyclone, and Aska all closed down). Could this be next? Movie Park also has Bandit It's fun to see riders' expressions as the train slams into the brakes Just another SLC Movie Park Germany was nice enough to give us ERT on MP Xpress Despite the trains, it's another Vekoma It seems to be common to see Arrow trains painted in red/white/blue Strange looking SLC wheels. The upstop wheel almost touches the track too. Limit Heide Park has this "one two punch" consisting of Limit (the SLC) and Big Loop (the multilooper) Cobweb theming I can totally see them using this as part of their Halloween events Nothing to see here. Keep moving. Walibi World also has this Boomerang, but according to the park, it doesn't exist. There is plenty of space for them to spin freely This ride uses "Six Flags SLC" wheels El Condor at Walibi World is the mecca of all SLC's Before these trains, it had standard Vekoma trains and before that Arrow trains It has unique trains. The seats are not very comfortable though Python is a simple multilooper at Efteling. The "George Foreman Grill" seating, complete with strips of duct tape Bobbejaanland had this contraption. It looks like a standard spin'n'puke, but with a difference Walibi Belgium also had Vampire, a standard SLC. It was closed, but unlike Vertigo, it actually runs sometimes. ERT on the Boomerang wasn't that bad. Most of us rode once to get the credit (which would have been difficult later in the day because of the long lines). You guessed it, a Boomerang Walibi Belgium didn't have Vertigo running for ERT (and it doesn't look like they ever will), so they gave us ERT on this masterpiece. Adding to the injury (no pun intended), the ride had a massive line The sun wasn't in a very good position to take this shot. Robb and Hanno loved it so much that they rode again Battle wounds Apparently it wasn't that bad, as Robb borrowed my video camera on it and the video camera still works, which is quite a feat considering my luck with video cameras The extra padding on the headrests isn't usually a good sign It is ranked 357th best steel coaster in the world. First up is the infamous Gouderix.
  23. Maybe they're using that wood to build a second fence around Ninja to stop idiots from trying to retrieve hats while the ride is running.
