Missed Credits: Coasters you COULD have...
rcjp replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
El toro: first time I went to Great Adventure I just didn't have time, on the second one it was not operating. So... -
Darien Lake getting Manhattan express with SLC style restraints. What's worse than B&M never making coasters again?

How Much Is Too Much Airtime?
rcjp replied to Lone Wanderer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I'd really like to try dodonpa: that launch! And the airtime too. I can only imagine. The ride I've been on with the most airtime was skyrush and it was definitely not too much. I mean, the restraints did hurt me quite a bit but that's due to their poor design and not the airtime itself. It would obviously not be painful if there wasn't any airtime but the problems lies on the actual restraints. Still, I just loved the ride, and that drop: well, it's awesome because you start going down and get quite a lot of airtime and then when you think that's it it just suddenly gets steeper and gives you a punch of negatives. Awesome! -

^Is it filled with sand? It is definitely quieter than most B&Ms but I can still hear something, mainly at the bottom of the first drop unlike Talon or shambhala from which I hear nothing. ^^Leviathan may be loud but don't forget that it goes pretty fast and that probably increases the noise level, I think. I don't think there is any new B&M that is as loud as the older ones, like Great Bear, Dragon Khan, Mantis,... Do they get louder with age, maybe? -
Fixed. How about Florida? LOL Our Sunshine State needs El Toro! We do need one in Florida. I have to drive 16+ hours if I want to go ride El Toro. Could be worse. I need to have a 2 hour drive + a 7 hour flight + one hour (at least) drive to ride el toro. And guess what, on either of my tow trips to Great Adventure (which come really expensive) I didn't get to ride it: the first time it was so crowded that I din't have time and in the second one it was closed. Yay!

I know that it's not a big thing, more of a curiosity, but has anyone noticed that nearly all B&M immelmanns/dive loops are not fully vertical? They have a certain angle to it. Anyway, looking really good even though I like the look of their older snappy zero gs better. -
Nürburgring launched coaster
rcjp replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Really cool list! The only flaw I can find is that the Intamin hydraulic launch coasters lists different launch times. For an example Zaturn has the same launch as Stealth, only that Thorpe Park uses the time it takes for the train to reach the top speed (Which is the correct way, in my opinion) while Space World uses the time it takes for the train to clear the launch (this includes the brake run for the catch car, which is not a part of the acceleration). Same thing for Dragsteer and Kingda Ka. Stealth wasn't "modified" in 2007 to have a better launch, it was only the marketing team who found out that the ride only launched for the first 1,9 seconds of the launch, the rest is used to slow down the catch car, so they used it in their favor. I think kingda ka and top thrill dragster really do have different launch times. At least I felt that KK's launch was a reasonably more intense than TTD and I rode both within a 4 day period. -

Any news on the LSM ride construction? Does anyone know if testing has started? -

Nigloland! New Coaster for 2014
rcjp replied to msep003's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't been neither on Storm nor in a Megalite but I have been on skyrush and I also seriously doubt that it can match it's intensity. Skyrush reaches 2 negative Gs which I think is the most in any ride. After watching a few storm POVs it definitely looks like it has more than floater air but still not enough to match Skyrush (and, from what I've heard and read, neither for the megalites). -

Nürburgring launched coaster

^^Really cool. I'd like to see if LSM or LIM launched rides will ever be as forceful (or even more) as hydraulic and maybe compressed air ones. -

^I'm really hoping for a video too. It's amazing how fast this construction is still going. Does anyone know when this is supposed to open? I guess they could have it ready by the beginning of the year or even sooner if they wanted too. Really cool! -

Well, that's good news. But I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that it will be a "small" one like Krake rather than a sheikra/griffon style one with around 200 ft. Still, it's a bit soon to tell more. One more reason to go to Italy on a coaster tour somewhere in the future. -

It's kind of hard to tell from the picture but it looks like the zero-g is mostly done. Awesome! source -
