Flashback at SFMM for absolute sure. What a pile of scrap metal! Would they please recycle it and put the money they get for it to some good use? Eric

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
ebl replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, probably X at SFMM. I've ridden it about 7 times, but every time I get off, I breathe a sigh of relief and swear that I'll never ride it again. But for some reason, I always do. Eric -

^ You're very lucky that your wife supports your interest. Mine thinks my interest in this is stupid. It would have been cool to be able to check out a subway tunnel before it opened. Glad you had the chance. There isn't much transit-wise up here in Ventura County, so I get down to L.A. to ride the Metro trains whenever I can. Eric

I'm scared of ACEers. Especially at buffets... Seriously---and strangely---my biggest fear is losing a limb. I don't know why that is, but the thought of being without an arm or leg just freaks me out. And being diabetic doesn't help. Eric "Is also an ACEer" L.

POLL: Favorite board
ebl replied to BurritoKing99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like Random, Random, Random because I'm so random. Plus, I don't have to limit my posts to just stupid old theme parks and roller coasters. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to catch a train down to the harbor to see if the burrito store is open. Eric -
Another transit fan, eh? I used to collect timetables from the old RTD system in L.A. where I grew up, but I no longer do. I'm still interested in transit issues, though. Eric

Insanity - Incident
ebl replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Despite this incident, I'll still ride Insanity. I've done the other rides up there, so why not this one? Eric -

My 2002 Honda CR-V has the 160 hp 4-cylinder, and it has plenty of power. I get 24-26 mpg with it (4-speed automatic w/ overdrive), and have 63,000 miles on it. It carries five people very comfortably and has plenty of room for stuff---even more when you fold down the back seats (actually, they tumble forward). The only problem is finding a used one. Not many people get rid of them. Eric

Nah, there'll always be vertical loops. But it does get old when a coaster comes off the lift, takes a drop, and goes right into a loop. I like the way that Revolution at SFMM did it. Three drops before the loop, the third being that long, gradual descent into it (which I think is a great element in itself). What I also don't like is the three loops in a row like on Viper at SFMM. Better to do addtional loops like they did on Montu---one now, one later in the ride. Or put some other element first, then a loop or two later. But, no, the vertical loop is here to stay. I like them, honestly, more than any other inversions except maybe B&M's zero-G rolls or heartline spins. Eric
