"Cause keeping it open let's me see who knows how to read and who doesn't!" (SharkTums) Given some of the posts, apparently there are a lot of people around here who can't! Eric

I need to go out and run some errands. Some last minute Valentine's Day cards...the Hallmark store. Paper. Card stock....at Staples. Lunch. Del Taco---it's cheap! Print programs for the dinner on Saturday...Hal's place. Fetch Diana from school so she can go deliver Valentine's Day stuff to Cameron. Back later... Eric

Time flies when you're having fun, huh? Congratulations on two years, and may there be many more. Eric -
Why doesn't someone lock this topic? The name's been decided, no need to keep it open anymore. Eric

Yeah, but it's a rough commute to Southern California every day! Seriously, uh, no... Do you like peanut butter cups?

B&M Magnetic brakes
ebl replied to kaliboiryda510's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since magnetic brakes are almost maintenance free and fail safe, it's a wise choice for doing the hard work, that is, slowing a train. Then, once inside the station, using "traditional" braking devices (tires, friction, squeeze, whatever) works well and keeps wear and tear to a minimum. Eric -

Through a friend, who's a cast member at Disneyland, my wife and daughter were able to take a round trip in that car. As a railfan, I'd do almost anything to have a chance to do that. Nice Photo TR. Glad you had fun. Eric

If I offended you, coasterkat, I apologize. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that I wasn't referring to anyone with a chronic condition or injury, such as yourself. It's obvious that some people do need some assistance, like Orient Express in getting up the hill. It is steep. The reason I wrote what I did is because most (note I said "most") of the ones who complain about climbing the hill are young kids who should be able to do that with no problem. All you have to do is look around and take note of the number of young kids whose waist size could be measured in feet. They do sit in front of a computer instead of going outside. I have a teenager, but she's "fit and trim" because I don't let her just sit around. She does get her computer time, but she also walks a mile and a half home from school every day and at least that when she goes to the mall or out with friends. About diabetes, yeah, it's tough. I spent five days in the hospital back in December because of it. All last fall I was struggling to get around because my blood sugar was doing some crazy stuff. I'm doing much better now and just hiked that hill last Saturday (without a hitch). Anyway, there ya go. Eric

Aventure City : forbidden to adults without children !
ebl replied to EricLovesTZTOT's topic in Ask Alvey
That must be a new rule because I've never been turned away from there, and I've been a couple of times. On another note, isn't that park closing sometime soon, or did that change? Eric, but not the same one who started this topic -
"I wonder if I can get one of those "First Visit" badges even though I've been there once." (Niiicolaaah) Sure! Just tell 'em it's your first time and I'm sure they'll be happy to do it. People do that here at Disneyland to get the Happy Birthday buttons. Looking at those pictures brought me right back to WDW (I was there in October). Thanks for sharing and glad you had fun! Eric

Tonight at Diana's church, they had a presentation about an upcoming trip to Mississippi to help hurricane victims, and whaddya know, dinner was included---and it was Southern style! BBQ chicken, corn bread, slaw, taters, shrimp! Eric

^^ No, you don't have to; that's why it's called "The Guy Above Me." This started on Westcoaster way back and someone (could've even been me since I do that kind of thing) started saying something about the guy below. To me, it just makes the game that much more fun! Anyway, returning to our regularly scheduled game... ^ Misunderstood. < Often misunderstood. V Showered with cold cuts!

Redesigned trains in the works for X
ebl replied to kraxleRIDAH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If S&S can make X smoother, then I'll start riding it again. The trains on Eejanaika have padding on the lower part of the car, right where your calves go. That would help greatly, but having an ankle restraint similar to that on the B&M flying coasters would be even better. Getting beaten up on X is why I don't like to ride it. I'm surprised that the dropping floor wasn't incorporated into the original design for X. It's a proven design on inverted coasters and has worked well. It just seems too complicated to have that whole seat rotation thing when trains are moved into and out of load and unload. A very time consuming process indeed---and a capacity-killer to boot. Eric -
No. Our parks here in SoCal are open year round, so there is no opening day! Do you pay your bills on time?
