  1. I noticed that TPR is doing a Tokyo trip next year. Perhaps Diana and I can go. (She graduates from high school next June and I was thinking about taking her to Japan anyway.) Eric
  2. I agree with most in this topic. When the going gets a bit tough, you don't just quit to find something else. Stick with it awhile. Believe me, jumping around doing the Job Switch Shuffle will not help you in the years ahead. Eric "Been in the workforce for 30 years" L.
  3. Can a front wheel drive car pop a wheelie? Eric
  4. SFMM three times Disneyland once DCA once Knott's twice I haven't gotten out much. The End. Eric
  5. I still don't get the whole clone thing. So more than one park has the same ride...does it matter? Remember, parks don't build rides for us---they build for the *gulp* general public. Who, by the way, couldn't really care less. Eric
  6. Looks like you had some good fun. One day I'll have to make an effort to go to Cedar Point. Hard to believe that SFMM had a Wildcat at one point, called Mountain Express. From what I could see, I think theirs was the same model, too. Eric
  7. My wife bowls tonight. Diana works tonight. I play tonight. Eric
  8. ^^ Regarding my previous post, I was informed that I start my new job on Monday (October 1). Eric
  9. Yes. Have you ever had a fortune cookie where the fortune was printed in Spanish?
  10. Whether these are good rides or not, I wonder what will happen when "Tony Hawk" is passe. Maybe just a retheme...who knows? Eric
  11. Yes, most likely Haunt at Knott's. Have you ever ditched school for an entire day?
  12. Sounds like you two had a great day at the Mountain! There've been times when I went out there and had almost no one else there. Small crowds and short waits make for a great time. Eric
  13. ^ Honestly, I think SFMM got Scream! just to boost their coaster count. I, too, like it, but think about it---it's out of the way, has no real theme (but then much of SFMM doesn't anyway), and, with the exception of the rolling stock, is not unlike other multi-element coasters out there. Eric
  14. ^ Looney Tunes still make me laugh, no matter how many times I see them---especially Road Runner and Coyote ones. But you're right. It does take more to impress us. We even see that in our hobby of theme parks and coasters. Bigger and better. 100 ft. tall rides don't impress anymore. Now they have to be HYPERCOASTERS!!! 200 ft. tall!!! 15 inversions!!! Perhaps it's just human nature to push the limit. Eric
  15. At my last job, about four days before they let me go, our server went down and we couldn't do a thing. So, my boss suggested that we clean off our desks and arrange our projects. I had several versions of this one manual that I was writing, and I was carefully going over each version so I could assemble an accurate history file and not toss something that we might need later to track the changes the manual went through. At one point, my boss decided that I was taking too long and came over to let me know. Now, she could have just asked, but instead, went ballistic, telling me that she'd seen me go through everything three times and that she needed my help with something she was doing. This woman was almost in tears. I told her I'd take a break from my work and help her out, but she went on to say that if I didn't feel like putting my own manuals in order, she'd send me home. Finally, not only did I get my own stuff sorted out, but got her stuff done as well. She did thank me and tell me that she appreciated the job I did. But I'll tell you...that was one WTF?!?!? moment on the job. Eric BTW...the reason I was let go was because this company was bought out by a larger corporation who started the usual "housecleaning" when a larger company comes in. I got hit by the broom...
  16. I just bought some books on Amazon and spent about $46. Eric
  17. ^ Golden Corral...wow! I went to the one in Amarillo back in 2005. Too bad they don't have any out here. Eric
  18. I await the day that SFMM builds one of these. Sooner or later, that park will add another coaster, and since it's apparently going in a "family" direction, something like this will likely fit the bill. Not having ridden any version of it, I can't say it's a bad ride, but I've not exactly heard raves about it either. Eric
  19. I forgot to give Diana some cash before dropping her off at school today. So I celebrated by going to McDonald's for breakfast. Eric
  20. Those girls are...niiice. Eric
  21. I just took another look at that picture...is it me or does Joey look like a figure out of a wax museum? Sort of...mannequin like. Eric
  22. ^ Thank you! Misuse of that phrase has been one of my peeves forever! Anyway, I saw a notice in the paper that she was appearing at the Chumash casino. Therefore, I made plans to not go! Eric
  23. Ultimage suckage and a waste of human cells. Eric
  24. Impatient drivers. While she does OK 90% of the time, Diana is still in the learning stages of driving a car with a manual transmission and occasionally stalls at intersections. It's almost guaranteed that someone behinds us starts blaring their horn---not just a toot, but laying on it. Advice: Get over it and chill a bit. You might lower your blood pressure a bit in the process. Eric
  25. Yep, I saw a whole bunch. Did you has cheeseburger today?
