Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
"This is how it should be when the ride opens in Summer 2009." You mean people will enter a big, empty field? I am glad that they're putting the entrance away from Deja Vu. It'll be a bit less crowded down DV way. Eric -
Six Flags Season Pass Survey
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ That would be the easiest way to do it. Not a bad idea, really. But like Elissa said, sometimes the passes have problems being scanned. My own 2008 pass had part of the bar code wear off, and they had to enter the number by hand more and more toward the end of the year. Eric -
West Coast Bash 2009 at Six Flags Magic Mountain

^ Disneyland and Knott's are open for sure as they're both year-round. Both are within a couple of hours of SFMM (taking traffic into consideration). Eric -
Six Flags Season Pass Survey
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This survey was waiting for me at home in my e-mail, and I just happened to finish taking it before stopping here. One thing I found interesting was that there was no distinction between a regular and premium (Xtreme as it's called at SFMM). But I chalked that up to the fact that maybe not all Six Flags parks have a premium pass (I don't know for sure). I also agree that there could (and should) have been more places to put input rather than clicking a button. Eric -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

^ If that's the case, then the log ride at Knott's won't be long for the world---which would be too bad because it's one of my favorites. Eric -
^ So, Zaney's girl kicks her shoe into a truck, and your girl throws her shoe in the Bush! Eric

Even though I do enjoy them, the standup coaster really was something of a 1980s gimmick; one of those things that caught on for awhile, but faded fast. I only think SFMM got Riddler's Revenge because it was a type they didn't have at the time (they had an Intamin one earlier, located about where Terminator is going in), and theirs would be the biggest and baddest. I'm going to win because I'll be out at SFMM or someplace fun instead of watching this game. Eric

^ I still wonder how many shoes that girl has lost. Funniest signature graphic ever! Eric

West Coast Bash 2009 at Six Flags Magic Mountain

It's times like this that I'm glad I live only 45 minutes away. But I wish the best to all of you coming from afar. After attending last year for the first time, it's definitely a great event and you won't regret being a part of it. Eric -
"If savvy enthusiasts could narrow it down fairly quickly, we would already know what those yellow track pieces were for!" (Jew) That's why I said "narrow down" rather than "know exactly." I've looked at plenty of pictures at Roller Coaster Datbase and I'm going to rule out a standup and say it's a sit down of some type and not an inverted, based, as I said before, on the track profile/cross ties. "My autistic brother can't seem to tolerate any changes to HIS 'schedule'..." (CommanderLock) If you haven't already, rent Rain Man with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. One of the "ticks" about autism is that the person gets on a "schedule" or "routine" and it doesn't vary. For instance, many autistic children can't even be potty trained till they're seven or eight years old because they can't break the routine of using diapers. My nephew (now 14) was like that. Today, he's into everything Star Wars and doesn't vary from it. At restaurants he absolutely must have his Nintendo game to play the whole time. Take it away, and you get a screaming fit. Sorry you have to deal with this. I know it can be difficult. Eric

I'm sure even B&M knows that some enthusiasts have noticed the little differences in track ties, track gauge, etc. and can identify the type of ride it's going to be. They just ain't saying where it's going, though, again, savvy enthusiasts can narrow it down pretty fast. Eric

"We usually can get two to three elements onto a trailer. We did have to change the bar code stickers because some coaster enthusiasts started taking pictures of them and posting them on the internet before the park had made their announcement. No more identifying information is on the bar codes." (from the article) To me, the last sentence implies that there isn't any info on the labels that would identify what it is or who it's going to. Eric

"Tee hee! Get it! Bio as in biography or bio-diesel. It has a double meaning which makes it funny. Fine. These are the jokes people. Laugh or not." (Guy) BA-DUM-CHZZzzz!!! There's your rim shot! But I really thought it was funny... Eric

Honestly, I like standup coasters. Riddler's Revenge is a lot of fun and still pretty smooth for an 11-year-old ride. Anyway, I found a link to this article on Screamscape. It's about a tour of the Ohio factory that manufactures B&M track for the U.S. market. Most of the way down the page, there is a note that the labels on track pieces are not identified with the type of coaster. Eric

You're lucky to live in an area that changes color at different times of the year. Around here, it's green, it's brown, or it burned in a brushfire. Take your pick! Eric

^ Well, now we know that at least two shirts like that exist. If two shirts exist and there's six billion people in the world, what percentage of the world has such a shirt? And what if there are...more? Eric

Two pairs of Levi's 501s, $75 or so, tax included. Eric

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm not e-mailing Dan anything. If I have something to say to him, I'll talk to him diabetic-to-diabetic. I'd heard that it was supposed to rain today, so I decided to visit the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard instead of going out to SFMM. Interesting place if you enjoy old cars. But next week is the Super Bowl, and since I don't give a dang about football, that makes a good excuse to run out to the mountain and see what else they might do to Terminator in the next week. Thanks for the update! Eric -
I've only flown American a couple of times, and I really don't have any complaints about them. JetBlue is nice, though, but their destinations are limited. Eric

PTR: Dainan goes to Europe

^ The way Disneyland's Indy throws you around, you wouldn't want OTSRs on it. Your shoulders would have dents in them when the ride was over. Eric -
I went back to the first post and reread it. I thought that "I was strolling by the B&M Plant and was quick to my camera when I saw LOTS of yellow B&M track sitting out front" was rather funny. Just happened to be strolling by the B&M plant? Now, I'm not saying this is faked or anything; obviously this is B&M track sitting outside of what looks like an industrial facility. What I would say is that this person is someone who knows what the place is and what they make there. Could s/he have gotten a tip? Does s/he make a habit of "checking out" the place? All in all, I thought it was an interesting approach to spotting track. Now for my "official" guess as to what this is, I'm ruling out inverted; it's a floorless or above-track ride of some type for a park here in the U.S. Eric

I thinked a thought of thinkage. I'm sure that's what I did. Why, I've never had such fun Since I was just a kid. Eric
