Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
It's a minor thing, but I think it'd be nice to add a North arrow to the new park maps. Just for orientation. For me, it'd be nice to see how the parks are oriented from a geographic standpoint. Eric -
I don't know...I was serious... Eric

Walt Disney World is clearly a dangerous place and should be closed IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. Besides, the place has mice anyway... Eric -

^ Sometimes people have a pre-existing condition, but are unaware of it till something aggravates it, like a thrill ride. Unfortunately, though, some people do know about a condition and choose to ignore it. Eric -
^ Thinks I buy pizza at Six Flags. < Rarely buys pizza anymore from anywhere. V Rarely showers!

^ I thought so. First problem: From what I've observed, people are still going to the center and putting their stuff on the shelf, then getting back into the train. Note to SFMM: DO NOT ALLOW PEOPLE TO PUT STUFF OFF TO THE SIDE AND MAKE THEM PUT THEIR STUFF IN A LOCKER IF THAT'S GOING TO BE THE POLICY! Second problem: Slow ops. How long does it/should it take to check a restraint and step on the foot thingie? Note to SFMM: SPEED IT UP! Sorry for the yelling, but...come on! Eric

"As for proper restraints....what kind of restraint is on TOT? Seat belt?" (spaceace12) When I first rode WDW's Tower in 2002, most seats had only a lap bar (a few seats had a seatbelt instead). Since then, they've converted to seatbelts on all seats. I'm not sure exactly what sort of restraint system and ride warnings these people think would have prevented what happened to them. Do we know if they had any pre-existing conditions? Eric -
Six Flags New Park Map For 2009 Season
ebl replied to jps294's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ Yeah, I laugh at the celebrity lineup at that time. But remember, it was a family park and the acts had to appeal to everyone. We went on August 20, 1971, so according to the schedule, Mel Torme was playing that day. I think we went to the performance, but for some reason I don't remember it. But I do remember sitting in the 7Up/Dixi Cola Showcase Theatre just before leaving. Chances are, I was so bored that I enjoyed watching the Metro trains passing by more than the show! Whatever happened to Dixi Cola, anyway? Eric -
I'm always glad to provide a little laughter! That's my favorite scene in the whole movie! Useless trivia: This is Page 661 of the thread, same as SFMM's area code. Three trains on X2, in my opinion, is pointless because of stacking. Dispatches are still at 2-1/2 to three minutes regardless. But it's still a vast improvement over the five minutes it used to take. Now I wish they could do something about Tatsu in that regard. Are all of the B&M flyers as slow loading as Tatsu, or is it just this one? Eric

Have you guys ever noticed that Tatsu's station sort of resembles a McDonald's? And the track is red and yellow, too! Maybe it is going to a McDonald's. A new B&M..."Fry-er!" Eric

Six Flags May Not Survive 2009...
ebl replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ Just a note: Six Flags only built three of its own parks: SFOT in 1961. SFOG in 1967. SFOMA (Now called SFStL) in 1971. Every other park in the chain, starting with AstroWorld in 1975, was purchased from someone else, so Six Flags has been in the park purchasing business for a long, long time. Eric -
Six Flags New Park Map For 2009 Season

^ I hope also that maps in display cases around the various parks will be replaced with one of these new maps. They would really make navigating the park that much easier. Eric -
^ Wants to start his coaster season. < Started his coaster season on New Year's Day. V Started leaking oil over winter break!

Six Flags New Park Map For 2009 Season

"Don't remember Tatsu being on my map..." (AWill961) Tatsu opened in 2006, which is why it wouldn't be on a 2005 map. Just tellin' ya. OK, for your viewing pleasure, here are the .jpg files for my 1971 map. I apologize for their large size, but if I make them too small, the detail will be lost. However, if any TPR staff members want me to resize the files, I will. Eric -
Six Flags New Park Map For 2009 Season
ebl replied to jps294's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A theme park map needs to be accurate and detailed---its purpose is for you to find everything. Who can do that with wildly exaggerated depictions of coasters, towers, etc.? We as park "experts" already know that the silly designs are way out of scale, but the parks' main audience, the general public, isn't always served. Six Flags indeed did a good job redoing their maps. Eric -

The maps from SFMM's first years were pretty accurate. If you look around on the Internet, you're bound to find one. In fact, I even posted the 1971 map to Shane's topic once. I'll have to find it and repost it here. Eric -
^ The "quiestest" times? I'm guessing you either mean queasiest or quietest, so I'll answer both. Queasiest: After a meal on the flat rides. Quietest: 3am. No one's there. All joking aside... I'd say get to the back of the park first thing when the gates open, and it's pretty dead---at least in my experience. Eric "Sorry for the joking, but you caught me in one of my moods" L.

Hawaiians eat spam. So if TPR attracts spam, shouldn't there be more Hawaiians on the site? Eric

^ I agree with you. Whenever I've been on a job interview, I like to know where I stand. When I've gone through agencies, I do call the agency just because you're not supposed to contact the "client" (the company that an agency places you with). Is it still acceptable to send a note/e-mail to the person who interviewed you, thanking them for their time? To me that seems appropriate, but the rules change so much anymore. Eric

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

^ Understood, but I'm pretty sure that while you're riding, the concrete slab below is the last thing you'll notice. Mainly because the dense wooden structure will hide it as opposed to Scream!'s minimal steel structure and the fact that you're high enough to see it all. And I forgot to say thanks to Jahan for the update. Diana and I are possibly going to get out there over the weekend so she can pick up her season pass booklet. Of course that depends on work and weather. Eric
