  1. Am I hearing things or is there a padlock approaching this topic? Eric
  2. Because if the world ended in any of those months, most people could report a profit for the final quarter of...existence. Why do people call certain things "cheesy" when they have nothing to do with cheese?
  3. ^ It's been awhile, but I don't remember such a policy at Adventure City. Some of the rides, however, may require an adult to have a child in order to ride. Eric
  4. A coaster identical to the Himalaya makes its rounds to county fairs locally as "Pole Positiion"---or "Pain Position" as I think of it. I think this model is from Fabbri. Eric
  5. 11. Why didn't the Greeks name their letter "cake" instead of "pi?"
  6. ^ The Bumper to Bumper Freeway Coaster is a typical Miler kiddie coaster in a figure eight layout. Not too bad, I rode it once. Eric
  7. ^ I never noticed that wash station before...does it mean you have to use the lower sink if you read Spanish? [Just kidding. ] It's been awhile since I was last there, but that's a fun little park. At one point, I heard it was closing...is that still in the works? Eric
  8. ^ Doesn't enjoy air. < "Air" is the first half of his name. V Air is what fills his head!
  9. "I think I do have a problem." (Dino) Fixed. Eric
  10. Glad to hear the Dipper is fairly smooth. Colossus has been getting some retracking, so I knew it would improve a bit. I have a friend in San Diego who wants me to visit, so during that trip, I'll sneak over to Mission Beach and take a ride. Eric
  11. ^ Learned the arrows; now needs to learn text placement. < Learned the programs to help make a living. V Learned the Hokey Pokey; now needs to turn himself around!
  12. ^ As I said on Facebook, I'm sorry I never met up with you on this trip. When you were in Valencia, you were only 40 miles away from my house. Had I known you were so close, I'd have tried to meet up. Perhaps if I'd have read your blog like I should have, I would have known. What a remarkable trip, though. Eric
  13. "...modern designs tend to be a LOT more twisted and full of turns (banked and otherwise) than old-school woodies." (texcoaster) Not necessarily. Prior and Church and Harry Traver designed some pretty twisted coasters back in the early- to mid-20th Century, which is why many P&C coasters used the single bench articulated trains. As I've said, these new Timberliner trains---as well as the Millennium Flyers---are modern day throwbacks to those older trains. Eric
  14. It's been ages since I rode the Giant Dipper in San Diego. My last ride was pretty rough, though. How's it riding these days? I think a nice set of Millennium Flyers would be a tremendous improvement on that ride---not to mention being close to the original Prior and Church single bench cars! Eric
  15. "I mean X2 isnt the smoothest coaster in the world and for the most part, its sound is pretty reliable." (haiderodes) X2 isn't so smooth for riders because of the seat motions and such, but even being an Arrow coaster it's still smoother than a woodie. Eric
  16. ^ Taught a fellow TPR member about arrows. < Gets to shoot some arrows in ten days. V Going to eat some sparrows in ten minutes!
  17. ^ I think that clip was taken at Holiday World. After some thought, the Intamin plug 'n' play woodies (like El Toro) are pretty tall, and from what I've heard, ride very well. Perhaps Intamin could build a "hyperwoodie" and have it work out right. Eric
  18. ^ Though I've never ridden Son of Beast, I can tell you what its problem is---IT'S TOO DAMNED BIG!!! Nothing can help a wooden coaster that tall. Eric
  19. ^ She's already processed her pass. The day she went, though, someone else paid for parking. Just last month, she went again, and someone else paid for parking. So, I told her that the next time she goes, she needs to pay so she can get the refund and the parking pass activated. Of course, we're talking about someone who, as of right now, 3:30ish on April 15 still hasn't finished her tax return because she's too busy hanging out with "Tony" at Chuck E. Cheese. Eric
  20. There's nothing wrong with coaster manufacturers having a new choice in trains. Millennium Flyers are good trains; perhaps these will be as well. Sometime back, I remember seeing a picture of a prototype single-bench PTC car, most likely taken at a trade show. About the look of these Timberliners...I'm sure this was a prototype and the real thing will look far better. Eric
  21. I usually get to Knott's about once a year, and Disneyland/DCA about once or twice. This year, I've already been to SFMM about seven times, and probably will get out there about once or twice a month. Eric
  22. ^ and ^^ I picked up the pass at a kiosk at The Oaks (shopping mall in Thousand Oaks), so the girl running the booth gave us a gift card for the value of the parking. We have to bring that to the park for the parking, so she said. What happens after that...I don't know. But she's going on her birthday (April 24), so I told her to ask any cast members if she's not sure what to do. Eric
  23. ^ I went on a Wednesday, but of course the weather was about the same. Eric
  24. ^ Porsche driver. < Honda driver. V Horse and buggy driver!
  25. "Terminator doesn't really do anything innovative" (AllenA07) Actually, it does. It's the first wooden coaster with an onboard sound system, so that will figure into the testing. With wooden coasters obviously not as smooth as most steel ones, I think there's a factor of components coming loose with the vibrations of repeated circuits. Of course, as I've said before, I'm sure this was all taken into account during the design phase. Eric
