Speaking of signs...I wonder why they removed the word "California" from the Six Flags sign on that big structural steel thing by the main entrance? Is the property still known as that, as the big "lollipop" sign next to I-5 still says? Eric

"I've heard that if you b**** about something enough at Guest Relations they will pretty much do anything to satisfy you." (rawrtotheargh) I was out at SFMM yesterday and actually stopped in at Guest Relations to do that which I rarely do---make a complaint. At Goliath, I used to go up to the exit and tell the attendant that I'm a single rider. Till yesterday, they ALWAYS let me take an empty seat once the train was loaded. Not only did the girl not allow that, but was rather snotty to me. (And they got a new swing open gate to replace the chain---a rolling one would have been better, but...whatever). So I told the lady at GR about this incident and was informed that the single rider policy was "an experiment" and that they weren't officially doing it anymore. (Earlier at Riddler's Revenge, however, I was allowed to do that as always with no problem). My point is, the lady at GR offered me an exit pass to ride Goliath, but I turned it down because I felt that the park had done nothing wrong, and I had not set foot in GR just to get some sort of perk. Later on, I waited in Goliath's regular line, and it was only about 20 minutes tops. Not bad considering the park was VERY busy, with a 2-1/2 hour line at X2. Otherwise, in abour four hours, I did Viper, Riddler, Gold Rusher, Scream!, and Ninja and Revolution each twice. Eric

Six Flags Magic Mountain Terminator Salvation: The Ride

I'm guessing that guests will be entering AND exiting the area across that bridge? Maybe being bit wider would help, though I'm sure there will be chains/bars dividing the entering and exiting crowds. Yesterday, I took an unexpected run out to SFMM, but it was later in the day. The tower wasn't open, so I didn't get to see any progress, but from the pictures here, it looks like they're really hauling on this project. Eric -

^ I've often wondered how well Psyclone's mirror-image twin, the Georgia Cyclone, is holding up these days. As far as I know, its construction is essentially the same as Psyclone's was, but it runs PTC trains and has since its debut in 1990. Eric -

^ Interesting...I don't recall hearing the "16 passenger" part---and I went to two different sessions. He did say "eight cars," but in a sort of unsure way. But the standard Millennium Flyers are 12-car trains. Eric -

^ Very true, and that's what PTC, Morgan, and a few others have. But Millennium Flyers are single-row cars with two seats. Eric -

^ He did say something about Terminator's capacity of 800 people per hour, so I'd guess we're getting the standard 12-car trains. Honestly (and hopefully) I think he wasn't sure about the exact train capacity. Chances are, he got the "eight cars" from the standard B&M trains of eight cars (except their hypers, which have nine, but we don't have anything like that at SFMM). Eric -

^ According to Tim Burkhart at West Coast Bash, the trains were indeed quite heavy, but he said what did in Psyclone was its poor construction. Eric -

^ The quake did have some impact on Psyclone, but because it wasn't built very well in the first place, it was just a matter of time before it went to crap. Eric -

^ Remember that Sunday is Easter. I doubt anyone will be working on it that day. Also, Psyclone was meant to be permanent, but it tore itself apart. Eric -

I was one of the ones who thought that the ground was unstable in that area. However, if the ground was so unstable, why have four coasters been built there? This has been answered, more or less. The Sarajevo Bobsleds lasted two seasons and was moved to SFOT. I'm not sure if the ride itself was part of the ride rotation program or if they just moved it to make way for ShockWave. ShockWave was definitely a ride meant for a short time, and after only two seasons was shipped off to SFGAd, then to AstroWorld. Psyclone was a Dinn-Summers woodie and not built very well, which apparently is a characteristic of their rides given what I've heard about Predator at Darien Lake and others. Terminator should be different, and be around for many years. Eric -

You know everything's going to work on media day for sure. So far, the system on X2 has worked well (in my observation), so I don't foresee trouble here except for what I mentioned above. As for the preshow, I'd guess that will be fine as well. Eric -

The only thing "different" about Terminator in terms of wooden coasters is the fact that this one is the first woodie with an onboard sound system. My only concern is that over time, will the generally rougher nature of a wooden coaster cause problems in the system, for instance, components coming loose? No doubt GCII has already taken such things into consideration. The show buildings are most like pre-fabbed in some way, which will shave some time off of their construction and placement in the ride's queue area. Eric -

^ If I recall, the proposed coaster is also a GCII. That means it, too, will most likely have the giant concrete slab since that seems to be the way they're being built nowadays. It's true that they may have to do some leveling for this, which is why I said "summer." Starting it then allows seven or eight months of construction before opening day if it opens late in March or April. Eric -

^ I'd say no later than summer. Terminator started going up in October 2008 and will open seven months later, so that sounds like a reasonable plan... Eric -

^ No, they're green with envy over the fact that only Elissa's name gets to turn red. At one time, my own name turned green, but now it just turns light brown because I got over my envy. While I can't explain Elissa's red, at least I cleared up the green. Eric

^ She doesn't have to turn all red, though. What, is she embarrassed by that? Eric

ACE News will have something in a future issue, most likely a drawing from GCII. That should arrive about Spring 2010. ^ But thanks for the clarification about the approach to the lift. It certainly makes sense. Eric
