TPR's Termination Day! Sunday, June 28th, 2009
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I signed up as soon as I got the details. Unfortunately, Diana usually works on Sundays, otherwise I'd bring her as well. This looks like it's going to be a blast! Eric -

How is the airtime on this ride? I watched the video shot on-ride (facing backwards) and it looked like there were some good pops of air, particularly on the exit from the deadman turn. Eric -

"Um I don't know if it's juts me or not, but man I hate the nickname 'Termmy' for this ride." (RCFreak) No, it isn't just you. I can't stand the whole "Termy," "Ghostie," etc. thing either. Coasters don't need pet names. I haven't seen any of the video feeds for Terminator as of yet, but I'm sure reports will come in throughout the day and I eagerly await them. I have a feeling they're going to be positive. Eric -
^ I'll have to find you some "guh," since you asked for it. Eric

This news sounds interesting. I'll have to keep an eye on this topic. Otherwise, my guess is that my first ride will be this weekend sometime. Eric -
^ Has an older mom. < Older than many moms. V Older than dirt!

I noticed that my wish was granted! Thank you ever so much, dear Title Fairy! Eric

Now that they successfully run trains on the course, I wonder if anyone has "snuck a ride" yet... Eric -

Maybe we wood-n't have such irony on a steel ride! I'm not sure why I'm surprised there's a tunnel on this ride. But I think it's in a great spot. We can't see the back side, but does this tunnel go all the way around the turn or just part/most of the way? Eric -

Funny how we were talking about irony in a topic about a wooden coaster. Eric -

When was the last time a wooden coaster opened in Southern California? That may be part of the popularity of the testing video. And perhaps because of the degree of theming for a woodie? I have a feeling that it's going to be VERY crowded at SFMM this weekend. And not just because of the holiday. Eric -

I'm going to guess that Terminator will only have the two trains, not an extra one as a spare like some other coasters do. Eric -

Even if the drop isn't that steep, the fact that it dives under the lift hill structure will make it fun. The tunnels might be interesting if they're not 100% enclosed. They could get creative and have light hit your face in small bursts depending on how they leave openings in the sides. Eric -
^ They don't get less annoying when they're four or five. Believe me. And wait till he's a teenager... Eric

I don't think FlassPass will be available on Terminator---at least not yet. Honestly, I think that's a good thing because if that ride had it, the regular time will be incredibly long. With only two 22-passenger trains, waits will be long anyway unless they can load and dispatch quickly. If Diana and I go this weekend, I may give the Q-Bot a try since I have the Xtreme Pass. Eric

"Is it me or does the word 'Please' just sound stupid?" (chmilo24) "Please" isn't so stupid when it's used with "thank you" and makes the difference between others being nice to you and not. They don't call those the "magic words" for nothing. Wait till you hit the job market. You'll see what I mean. Eric

Terminator : May 25 -- Who's going?

Diana and I are thinking about going this weekend, but not sure yet which day. Eric -

When I time my own rides on a coaster, I time them from station to station. In my experience, most coasters with a single lift hill and no mid-course brake run about 45 seconds to a minute from the top to the final brake. Terminator should be no different. What happens during that 45-60 seconds is what counts. Eric -
