  1. Any news or updates from the park? This is how my mother must feel when I don't call for several days.
  2. For some reason I always thought that the rails and cross-ties were more of a royal blue I actually like this color a whole lot more!
  3. Wait a minute. Intamin OTSRs... on B&M track... for a Mack ride? But this coaster looks like tons of fun! I could never make out the exact layout of this, just a big delicious spaghetti bowl of twistiness. All the more exciting!
  4. ^ Well, they both roll, so they must be roller coasters! It's right there in the name! Isn't that how it works...? Actually, that bizarro logic doesn't hold up for Splashwater Falls. She probably thinks it's an actual boat that would float away if there were heavy enough rains.
  5. Luckily it doesn't ride like it looks!
  6. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if was a "most inversions" record. They are in desperate need of some more inversions Plus, pretty much the only standard of success the GP has for a ride is how many loopty-loops it has.
  7. Has an anything new been added, or is this an "in case your forgot how awesome Skyrush is" update?
  8. Wasn't 'Giga Coaster' a term coined by Intamin anyway? And enthusiasts just use it to describe the other two? Does/did Morgan have an official category for SD2k, or did everybody just decide to call it a giga coaster. Either way, Leviathan is really tall, really big and looks really fun!
  9. Revival of discussion. When I visited Kings Dominion with my girlfriend this summer, as we were about to board Flight of Fear, she looked at the lapbars and asked, "does this go upside down?" I said, "Yes, four times," and she freaked out a bit. I don't think she believed me until she was actually upside down. At least she enjoyed the ride; plus she's now an Enthusiast-in-Training Re-end of discussion.
  10. Get ready to have all of your rides be broken down or temporarily closed due to litigation... well, all but one!
  11. Wow, that helix turnaround looks a lot more stretched-out than I thought it was going to be! I thought it would be much flatter than that.
  12. Hmm, is there going to room for the keyhole element? In rendering it looks like it happens when the train is completely sideways, but on the webcam it looks like that's awfully close to the second corkscrew.
  13. Shall we all take off our trollface masks and resume talking about how wonderful the ride's going to be? Does anybody know where in the world the Skyrush trains are right now?
  14. Guys, that drop isn't 85°. I think Intamin is lying to us.
  15. What thigh-crushing death are you referring to? Granted, the only Intamin lapbar-only ride I've been on in recent memory is El Toro, but I really don't mind them. Even though I managed to get stapled in about 90% of the time, I totally forget about that once the rush of the ride starts (hell, once the cable lift starts!). Or maybe I just have thigh muscles of steel
  16. My goodness. That twisty airtime hill looks positively delicious. Happy Valentine's Day indeed!
  17. Definitely (100% Probability): Hersheypark Six Flags Great Adventure Most Likely (~75% probability): Six Flags Great America Kings Dominion Step 2 ??? Step 3 Profit! (all the rest, in decreasing order of feasibility): Six Flags New England Cedar Point Kings Island Six Flags Over Texas Heide Park
  18. ^^ Huh, I didn't realize that it was the MCBR and brakes combined into one. I guess it's more like an ECBR '
  19. At the risk of being the guy who missed the discussion earlier in the thread, have we ascertained why the brake run is so tall and long? They probably could have fit in a quick shallow dip sort of like on Nitro. But I'm also not an engineer at all.
  20. I think I've read previously on here that they're not gonna cap off the two airtime hills until the very end, because otherwise the cranes would be trapped in there. Or am I just foolishly misremembering? Also, KITTY!
  21. Now we know which wires to cut.
  22. Why not a mega lite? Would be better than a giga. I've never been on either, so correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the point of a Mega Lite, essentially a poor man's Giga Coaster? Mega Lites are great for mid-sized parks but it doesn't make any sense to buy one when you can afford a Giga coaster. Well that's the thing. CAN Magic Mountain afford a giga?
  23. "The cars would also be outfitted with drains. Should the ride live up to its nauseous namesake, attendants at the unloading stations would be ready with hoses." The water cup, ball, and gyroscope sounded pretty silly, but this takes the cake. If this weren't from Popular Science, I would think this was a very subtle Onion-style article. I mean, how many ride cycles would it take before the inside of the car started to look and smell like a particularly awful gas station restroom? 5? 10? A half-hearted hosedown would be no match for zero-G barf. The idea is unique, but highly impractical. The initial cost, plus maintenance nightmares, plus frequent cleaning could bankrupt a park quite handily.
  24. S:UF at Great Adventure is also pretty quiet from what I can remember.
