Popped into SFFT yesterday after a day at SWSA for the Seven Seas Food Festival. I'll have way more pics up later. . but damn, does Dr. D's Cliffhanger look INCREDIBLE in person, and they have so much of it done already!

it's a custom design. . so the 2nd half is different than any other Dive Coaster. it's the 1st of it's kind with 7-across seating as well. . .

Absolutely horrifying. . .. and tho I'm not sure a seatbelt at the crotch would have prevented a "slip out" (if that's what happened). . . . I can't imagine what the family, the other riders, and the park staff are going thru right now.

I've never Ubered, since I drive from Austin. . but I'd assume they would be able to drive you from the Hotel up to the Main Parking Lot and drop off. (The "main Gates" to the park are a bit away from the Parking Lot, but it's just a short walk). Worst case? they drop you at the Parking Lot Booths entrance, and you have to walk to the front gate from there. . . slightly longer, but still not bad. Just be sure the Uber doesn't drop you off by the SeaWorld sign at the street. . you need to AT LEAST be at the Parking Lot Booths. . as the Parking Lot Booths are a good bit away from the main "street" entrance (by the SeaWorld sign).. and you'll be walking a good 25 minutes just to get to the front gates from the street.

While SFFT is by far the superior park, in terms of Rides/attractions? 1) Your hotel is directly across from SWSA. 2) SW has what I think is the best Wooden Coaster in Texas, Texas Stingray. 3) SW has in total 4 Coasters (5 if you count the kiddie) and only 3 adult Flats + 2 water rides. VERY easy to do in a few hours, if you only care about the rides, and purchase Quick Queue (you'll need it for Wave Breaker: Rescue Coaster - as that family coaster gets huge lines & Rio Loco - a very good rapids ride). 4) Seven Seas Food Festival starts tomorrow, and will be running when you're there next weekend. So EASY choice for me here. . . buy quick queue, buy a Seven Seas Lanyard, and eat and ride to your hearts content in those 4 hours. ^edit to add: one of those 3 adult flats is the brand new Tidal Surge - the Tallest and Fastest Screamin Swing in the world. . . and it's pretty damn fun.

so it's been crazy busy at work due to end of QTR .. .but day ends on a great note! My Bonus from work got deposited today (wasn't expecting it today..and the took out less in Taxes than I assumed they would). and then got a work email noting that due to popular demand, the "recharge" days they tried out in 2021 (but made you use Vacation for.. but basically they encourage everyone to take those days off)... were such a success they are bringing them back this year. But, due to feedback from folks, this year they will be paid days! Best part? 2 of the 3 days recharge days are days I had already taken off (for a major trip, and for Dragon*con) - the 3rd day is the day of the FrontLine Assembly concert - so I now can head downtown really early to get parking and eat at Casino El Camino before the show. But I basically just "gained back" two vacation days! and I now have 5 days off remaining I can use during Thanksgiving/Holidays, instead of barely having 3 Yay!

Per Park President Jeffrey Siebert's twitter update, the Midcourse drop is now complete! so a big portion of this beast is complete, and only 21 more sections of track to install and they'll have full circuit! can't wait.

Does Holiday World & Splashin Safari allow swimming goggles on the Water Coasters? I wear contacts, and am COMPLETELY blind without them. I almost never do waterparks, because the water kicks up and gets in my eyes on slides. . but I've been told the water coasters here are not to be missed. So my only options are to keep my eyes closed the whole time (what's the point then?) or wear swimming goggles while riding the water coasters. I know most parks wont allow swim goggles on the slides. . .but Water Coasters aren't really slides. soo....... does anyone know? Thanks!

personally? I'd absolutely take the longer day at BGT. . and just hope Iron Gwazi draws much of the crowd leaving most everything else not too bad. there's SO much to do at BGT in addition to the rides (not the same I feel at SW), that I'd rather have the longer day there. . . even if you end up waiting a long time for a ride on IG.

@teacherkim who can give some great advice on all these parks (especially since we’re doing most of them in may) in particular? She’ll tell you which water coasters at holiday world are not to be missed my best advice is FL+ at kings island. almost every fl queue drops you right in the station. And you want the + for beast and Orion

Absolutely Texas fly into dallas/fw rent car do SFOT then take the drive down I35 thru Austin (COTAland proper won’t be open but if you time it during an event at the F1 track you can get a ride on the Schwarzkopf Wildcat that’s already up) take a quick detour thru Seguin for a few rides on the unique Switchback at ZDTs. Then continue on to San Antonio for full days at SFFT &SWSA either drive back to Dallas for car return (or if cost is not considered? Return car and fly back from SA) if you have extra time in SA? Can always do river walk or historic stuff like the Alamo. And the San Antonio zoo is a good one some notes: it WILL be scorching hot. Drink lots of water (cups of water are free at all parks at any food service place) the busiest park will be sfot. Because the water park up in Dallas is across the freeway from six flags. On both San Antonio parks? The water park is in the same footprint and drains a lot of people from the dry areas (tho the water rides will get long lines). Also note that at sfft? The water park is included. No separate ticket needed if you like water parks? On i35 from Dallas to San Antonio you’ll pass both kalihari (worlds biggest indoor water park) on round rock. And schlitterbahn (always ranked among the worlds best) in New Braunfels Water parks aren’t my thing. But just mentioning for ME? It’s not worth the detour to Houston. But if you wanted to you’ll also be able to do the kemah boardwalk outside of Houston and the Galveston pleasure pier but come to Texas. The sa parks in particular will blow you away

The park is really in an iffy part of Tampa I hope you don’t end up with massive hospital bills from getting mugged because you wanted to save a few bucks from renting a car or uber and wanted to walk to the park

We stay at a nice courtyard Marriott about 10 minutes from the park I’d recommend it this one COURTYARD TAMPA NORTH/I-75 FLETCHER

Jeffrey just announced that starting today SFFT is offering “enhanced flash pass entrances” that appear to be sharing the entrance with new single rider lines on 4 coasters: iron rattler, Goliath, roadrunner express, and boomerang and he hints “more to come” wOOt!!

^ and I always tell folks to ride Wave Runner (the scrambler) at SFFT. . . they run an insane cycle on that. There's a reason the motor has to be replaced so often. the only one I've been on that's ever come close to how crazy Fiesta runs theirs, is the one at Six Flags America - which proved to be one of three highlights at that park for me (the other being Joker's Jinx, and Ragin Cajun - the spinning mouse that was way better than I expected). Bringing this back to SFStL tho. . .I really enjoyed Colossus, the Mine Train (a pleasant surprise), and several of the other flats there, as well as the other standouts I mentioned earlier. Even the taxis were fun, although the ride pad has shrunk so much. Honestly, the only "dud" that I absolutely hated in the park was Ninja. Which is a shame, because it looks so good, but rides so rough.
