  1. you know what's funny?. . we were going to ride it in Kennywood, and then chickened out. so we said: next time we see it! . . . and it didn't show up again at any of the other parks we went to! we always skip it in Vegas too. . .
  2. pretty much what most of us had guessed. . but it looks amazing. Not QUITE a mouse (maybe closer to track layout for Pandemonium, just indoors). . but I still expect the Wild Mouse will be going bye-bye for boardwalk expansion.
  3. great report. I've never been to Cedar Point. . did you not ride any flats there? or just didn't mention them?
  4. I just saw that. Very sad. Depression is a serious thing, and mental health treatment in the United States is a joke. He also did A LOT of drugs throughout his lifetime, that can mess up your mental health as well. Sad, one of the most major 'stars' to die in my adult life time. unfortunately, I actually DO know a lot about this. You will find, quite often, the heaviest drug abusers also have mental issues. They self medicate to try and even out the highs/lows from the mental illness. I admit, when I first heard the news, I thought to myself: drugs. but when I saw Suicide was the cause?. .that actually makes more sense. it's a real shame he wasn't able to beat the disease, and I do hope he has found the peace he was unable to achieve in life. thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.
  5. several mentions of the Gemini Midway, but no one brought up Knott's and what they did with the Perilous Plunge area? yeah, they DID add a coaster, but a family Mouse, and then installed two flats to finish out the "boardwalk" themeing. From what I've seen, it appears to be a big hit.
  6. I'm 47 and my Partner is 55. . and although there are coasters we prefer not to ride (Boomerangs), we don't skip them because we "can't ride" them. . and occasionally do get on them. So for COASTERS the answer is none. . we ride all of them, just some not as much as others. however, there are some spinning/flipping flats that we avoid and are simply unable to ride because the result is we're dizzy/sick. We're ok on Tilt-a-Whirls, Himalayas, Sooper Loops, Sizzlers, etc stuff of that nature (heck, we're even OK on Enterprises and Looping Starships). . . but keep us away from Top Spins, or Chaos type rides. will never ever get on that again. oh. . we also don't ride these: we've never actually tried one (and we love Frisbees). . .but just looking at it?. . we agreed this type of ride will make us ill. . so we've never been on one.
  7. Freeze is just a back and forth on same track (a shuttle coaster). A glorified Boomerang. Poltergeist is a full circle track (a roller coaster). . so to me, it wins!
  8. Is Poltergiest running? or did they shut it down until SFAmerica can figure out what's going on w/ Joker's Jinx?
  9. Plenty of space behind the boardwalk. and they can always expand into the parking lot (as they did for Goliath, and the Waterpark expansion years ago)
  10. that last post pretty much does confirm Hustler is going away tho
  11. Nice report, even if it's starting out rough! (I almost missed it, as the title didn't flag me right away it was Disney -- guess I still don't see "Grow Walk" as Disney LOL). We used Dollar for our rental car for our June trip across Pennsylvania. We were SUPER happy with them, and they even worked with us to let us return it with an almost full (not completely full) tank, since we got to the airport without passing any gas stations! We did note that (as typical) when you rent in one city and return in another, they really get you with charges. . but in our case, checking the cost resulted in us flipping our trip around -- to rent in Philly and return in Pittsburgh was going to be $900 for 10 days. to rent in Pittsburgh and return in Philly? $500 for 10 days. so yeah, we flipped our trip, started in Pittsburgh, and saved $400. and we absolutely will use Dollar next time! can't wait to read more
  12. Told you so, and why I'm pretty much done with the show again already this year. Mediocre singers are getting thru, while talented acts (such as the two male dancers, or Loop Rawlins) don't. and AGAIN the judges chose poorly, a child over seasoned adults -- and this is AFTER Howard made a point that they are looking for a million dollar act to headline in Vegas. not worth my time.
  13. I can TOTALLY see them renovating Rockville to be re-themed to Gotham City. I think we're getting a Batman themed coaster. . . just my take on it.
  14. I have to agree that navigating is difficult in Hershey. I got so lost because i could see the rides i wanted to go in the distance but the path layout is awful and very confusing. I probably could have gone on more rides but kept backtracking because i was gling the wrong way. we used the best app in the world for that -- stopping and asking at a booth/shop/ride every time we wanted to go somewhere yeah. .the Hershey map was pretty much useless.
  15. here it is in action, tho it looks like it's called "Rampage" [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/kOUEwPp4WQo[/youtu_be]
  16. "Bellagio", "Mirage", and "Cosmopolitan" (Wicked Spoon) http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/taste/restaurant-collection/wicked-spoon.aspx are the 3 best buffets in town. (ones that are good, but have been surpassed by the above 3: "M resort" "Rio" and "Golden Nugget" (tho if you catch Golden Nugget on Seafood buffet night (the weekend), the food is a great value for the buffet price) http://www.goldennugget.com/lasvegas/eat_buffet.asp Ones to avoid: MGM Grand (used to be fantastic, but TERRIBLE the last two times we were in town), Flamingo (edible, but only as a last resort), CircusCircus (Cafeteria or worse food), and Mandalay Bay -- way overpriced for the quality of the food.
  17. we were there in June, and that was not the case. everything operated until there was thunder, so we rode in downpours. . until we heard thunder -- then everything closed. so if this is the policy, it's not followed consistently.
  18. I could happily watch if AGT banned both salsa dance groups, and singers. they always take up spots in the semifinals, and there are other shows they should be on. as you note, truly unique acts -- that COULD support a Vegas show, don't even get a chance, since the young girls voting, always put thru the cute singers, and the older ladies who vote, always put thru the salsa dancers. (I can pretty much guarantee the male salsa duo next week won't make it thru - the folks who vote won't like seeing two men dance). hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so. yeah, the judges got it wrong. . cute kids grow up. they should have gone with the Jumprope
  19. Condor. (tho I think it's a coaster, if both Hustler (and parts of Rockville facade) AND Motorama are on the chopping block)
  20. I was shocked how much I hated Skyrush. I won't say Flying Turns was a "letdown" as I knew from reading stuff here (by Robb and others) that it was a family ride, rather than a "high thrill" ride. . but honestly, it wasn't super exciting
  21. for YEARS was Ghostrider at Knott's then we rode Wildcat at HersheyPark. (shiver) my back just screamed even typing the name. ..
  22. oh yes. and while you are in the line that slowly moves, you will hear it a few dozen times.
  23. motorama is #2 on your map. (Hustler is #3) so yeah, that's a LOT of space. (sucks that Hustler will be closing. . it's a unique ride to the park)
