  1. My guess is the that there will be sensors combined with a variable speed lift hill. I think that goes a long way towards keeping things synced.
  2. A while back (by a while, we're talking 10+ years ago) while working at SFMM I ran into somebody who was a big fan of my website (rollercoasterz.com shout out! Does it count as a plug if my site is defunct?). He offered to take me around and show me some of the cooler behind the scenes places at the park, including underneath Colossus. There is an access road that goes under the ride where that hole is and goes back towards the turnaround. This was a no-pictures tour so I don't have anything to post, but in response to it being a picnic area my understanding is that was the original plan. I can confirm that it was very loud down there!
  3. I'll be the first on the record saying this is going to be a RMC wooden aquatrax. Either that or SFMM is planning on shocking us all and adding elements onto Bench: The Ride. --Here's to hoping somebody here has any clue what I'm talking about with Bench: The Ride!
  4. I'll freely and openly admit that I'm new around these parts, and that I've only been to SFMM probably five or six times. Having been around coaster sites for the last 16 years one of the things I have learned is that no matter what the ride, the immediate reaction to it is going to be one of disappointment.
  5. Seaworld had an entire movie convincing people not to go there. Even though it was a horribly inaccurate movie, it was a powerful movie psycologically and convinced many people not to go there. Cedar Fair's claims can be held true too. A power outage leads to guests complaining about their time there, no matter how many things the park gives them to make their day better, and they complain to their families and friends, who complain to their families and friends, leading to an everlasting chain of people who are convinced Cedar Point and Valleyfair are bad parks. Also, building a wall around a hundred acre theme park would be a major investment and would probably help only a little, as it only flooded ONCE so far this entire year. Plus, have you BEEN to SFFM, La Ronde, SFA, SFOT, or any of the bad SF parks? I mean, SF definintly has a few gems, but when a majority of their parks are only okay down to horrible, they have some good reasons for getting a bad rap. Therefore my entire rant was about this post. SFOT is a bad Six Flags park?
  6. Colossus was my first real coaster, so I would be lying if I sad that I wasnt a little sad for the sentimental value the ride has for me.
  7. I'm betting that we don't see Colossus open at all next year. I think this ends up being a 2016 debut.
  8. Wow. That video was... um... "something." I think Six Flags will find it to be pretty persuasive.
  9. I've got a bolt and a wheel from X at SFMM. They're in my parents garage (at least I assume they are) if I ever dig them out I would consider tossing them on eBay to see if anybody cares. So, to the original question, I would check eBay.
  10. I have read the books, so I'll be nice and not spoil anything. I haven't started the new season yet, my wife and I started rewatching the entire series so I'll b be a few weeks behind.
  11. I'm sure I'm horribly out of the loop, but I haven't been to SFMM in years so humor me. When did they change Jet Stream back to Jet Stream after that whole identity crisis as Arrowhead Splashdown?
  12. There is a clip during the Stanley Cup finals a few years ago of a LA sports announcer talking about Brad Doty (Drew Doughty) scoring a goal for the Kings. I get how annoying that is!
  13. Going to see Parabelle on Friday night If any of you enjoyed Evans Blue, Parabelle is the old lead singers new band.
  14. My wife and I tried Lombardi's back in May. Fantastic pizza, plus it's the first pizza place in the United States.
  15. Overall I'm pleased with the PS4. I'm not huge on the launch lineup games, but Killzone looks amazing. Stupid story, but still a lot of fun to play. I really wish Watch Dogs had come up as a launch title.
  16. Amazon is running a similar deal. I actually wanted to say how impressed I am with Amazon. I had Killzone and Call of Duty on preorder from them for several months now. I've already received Call of Duty, and Killzone has shipped. I was feeling a bit disappointing yesterday when Amazon announced their buy 2 get 1 free deal, considering I had purchased 2 qualifying games for the deal. This morning however, I had an email telling me that because of the new promotion, their records indicate that I am entitled to a free game. I'm very impressed by that gesture, and certainly would have understood if they didn't offer me anything. Great move by Amazon on the customer service front!
  17. More power to you. I'm curious to see the resale on them, I'm sure it is sold out for rest of 2013, but if it is in stock by Q1 next year, I think people will be willing to wait. Neither system really has amazing launch lineups.
  18. I've always hated the tree. Never saw the point of it, and thought it stood out. As far as the wasps, I remember working there one day and a bunch of kids knocked one of the nests down with a rock or a stick or something. Provided a hour of some terrifying entertainment.
  19. Anybody else here waiting on a PS4 next week?
  20. The cars are going to fall at 9.8 m/s2. Max speed will differ between them if they were hitting terminal velocity, which I would guess they aren't. Other then that I imagine the only real difference in acceleration rate is going to be based on other influences (drag).
  21. Actually if the fuel is in usable condition, I would bet that they did use it again. I went to a thing a few years ago where the captain on Mariner of the Seas was talking about ship details, and he mentioned that it costs around a million bucks every two weeks (two cruises) to fuel the thing. Don't see much reason in wasting good fuel. I worked on a case once where I saw a body that had been in water for about two weeks... I shudder at the thought of what it looks like after 20 months.
  22. Yeah I was frankly thinking oozed out. Plus depending on where in the ship they are, the windows may have given way giving a exit.
  23. I wonder if there are bodies still in there. There were only two people missing, after a year in the water I think there is a chance that they've managed to wash out to sea.
  24. The damages are not that out of the question. It has been a while now since I've had to deal with damages in any meaningful way, however when a person dies you essentially need to figure out how much money that person is worth. A 92 year old man with terminal cancer who has been retired for 30 years and has no dependents is worth less money then a 30 year old engineer with a wife a 3 kids. It sounds cruel but there are formula's that go into deciding the value of a person. From what I understand those are the damages, I'm unclear if there are additional punitive requests coming. I'm a little surprised that Gerstlauer wasn't joined in the suit, curious to see if Six Flags drags them into the mess.
  25. Back in May my wife and I went to see Anne on Broadway. We both dressed up (she wore a dress, I went with a button down and nice jeans) and we felt fairly overdressed for the show. The following night we went to see Chicago, I ended up wearing jeans and a t-shirt for that, simply because it was a very last minute decision and there wasn't time to go back to the room. Even in jeans and a t-shirt I didn't really feel all that out of place, in fact it was what the majority of people were wearing. All things being equal I would have rather been dressed a little better that second time. During Anne there was a family in front of us on their phones. They got a single warning and then were promptly removed from the theater. Can't even begin to describe how annoyed we were, those tickets are expensive, why the hell would you want to waste the experience looking at Angry Birds (which is what the ADULTS were playing). On another note about formal nights. I'm not actually huge on them, but it makes for some nice pictures. I wear a suit and tie everyday, last thing I want to do is wear one on my vacation. That being said, I'm glad ships have them, it's a nice touch. I might complain a little more if I had to rent a tux, but really it only takes me a few seconds to tie a tie and throw on a jacket.
