  1. ^ its also "point fest" Christian festival that day, I believe. Halloween events are always less crowded towards the beginning but they are also offering significant bring a friend discounts and its a free event so you will get 'normal' off-season Saturday traffic so it's hard to say
  2. So... since we all knew this was coming... what's going on with the halloweekends / HAUNT info? The website was up for a brief time last week but full of broken links and images, and hasn't been live since. Thought for sure they would release info today... or am I missing something?
  3. Has anyone done "ark in the dark" during fright nights? Do they really make it pitch black or how does that work? During the day it seems like a liability as-is, lol.
  4. Went on Saturday morning and got on every coaster + demon drop in under an hour and a half with no waits to be seen before heading off to great adventure. Thinking of going back for HAUNT, is it any good? It looks like it's included with a day ticket? (aka platinum pass holders get in free?)
  5. Good to know. I haven't been to a Six Flags park late recently, I'm talking all the way back to the SFDL days
  6. Doesn't Six Flags still have the same policy? (Close rides early so riders are off the rides by X time) It's been awhile since I thought about it.
  7. I don't think anyone mentioned the haunt site went live, but, it did! http://www.visitkingsisland.com/haunt
  8. I thought it was unique. Not the best show ever but good enough to warrant a visit.
  9. To the person asking about halloweekends... the secret is to go on Sunday. You don't get scare zones because the park isn't open late, but you have no lines for rides OR houses/mazes! They do not close the park down and its just like a regular day at the park. Not sure what black out dates you speak of. Any day ticket or season pass gets you the Halloween stuff. Unless something has changed this year?
  10. ^ source of the haunt info? Edit: Never mind I think I get it. There is the haunt setup at the front and it has names on it. I think. lol.
  11. Which is good, because I'm stopping in labor day Saturday just to ride everything quick before heading to Gadv
  12. Every park I've ever been to -on- labor day has been very low crowds. Everyone always thinks it's going to be busy and never go . The weekend may be a different story, but Monday should be fine anywhere*, honestly.
  13. Yes, too hot for me! Definitely had a fun and very surprising day that's for sure. Full trip report to come
  14. My bad. The one I got from great adventure opening weekend does not have a park name or gold designation on it. It's basically the six flags logo and a barcode. I assumed they were all like that.
  15. Thanks for the info. I'm going to the park tomorrow... decided it would be best since there is no way i would get everything done on a fright night even with VIP tours. Any food recommendations? (Other than potato patch )
  16. Great report from a different prospective. I'll be going for the first time since they built Hydra in a few weeks and I'm looking forward to it more and more. Not sure why the park gets such a bad rap, but whatever.
  17. Great trip report! Enjoyed reading and seeing. One thing that Busch does that I've never seen other parks do is offer a one time quick queue for those who get denied a ride after waiting in line so long so they can go on something that is a little more relaxed in the restraint department. At least they did when I worked there a few years ago.
  18. Awesome video ^^ thank you for sharing
  19. The passes are generic six flags branding (at all the parks as far as I know) and don't even designate gold or not on the pass itself. For the early entry all you do is show your pass to the guard, they don't swipe it or check anything. Whether or not any of this will change, I don't know. At least this is how it was when I visited for early entry at the beginning of the season.
  20. I'll try to get in my question before the big announcement My first time going to haunt this year. If I go Saturday when the hours are 11-1am is the fast lane good on the rides for all 14 hours of the day? Or does the fright lane include rides too and only good for the evening time period? Also would all day dining be good for all 14 hours? I guess I don't fully understand the transition to haunt because it sounds like it's extra charge (though I have a platinum pass, which states gets in free) based on what I've read? Whereas cedar point is just a regular day with haunts added in. Whereas Canada's wonderland closes briefly and reopens and its a hard ticket event. I'm just confused. Help me out
  21. Finally rode my first proslide skybox today (aka brain drain) and it was a lot of fun. A long wait from the bottom of the stairs but a great experience. Would have been better without the automated countdown, but, I understand why it's there. Park seemed mobbed and I didn't stick around. By 11am half the second lot was already getting full. Line for ME as I was heading out looked to be an hour or more. Didn't see predator run at all while waiting on the slide.
  22. My plan is Saturday Dorney in the AM and Great Adventure in the PM. Sunday will be a full day at Hershey. Monday I will be doing Knoebels half day and heading home. The holiday valley alpine coaster isn't something to go out of the way to do, IMO. Unless you are doing the ropes course thing, too, which is a lot of fun. (and "scarier" than any ride I've been on, lol -- I don't have the best endurance out there, and I know I'm completely safe, but something about falling off one of those platforms terrifies me)
  23. So I just spent $140 (even paying an extra $10 in advance because I have a new England season pass and can't get the discount online) on flash passes for labor day weekend. My plan was to go to Dorney in the morning and then get to six flags around 3 or 4 and ride like crazy for the rest of the night. I read through all the terms and conditions and everything sounds great. I go to print out the voucher and it states in all caps (mind you nowhere else until you print it out) that you MUST redeem voucher by 12 NOON on day of visit. What the heck is that about? The whole point of me buying it in advance was to ensure I had it for coming to the park a little late. Now I'm slightly freaking out and questioning if I should start the day at Dorney or not. I had my whole weekend of 4 parks planned out and now six flags once again throws in a wrench. I emailed the park about it, hopefully they will give me a good answer. They definitely need to state that up front not after I buy the thing and then claim no refunds. So much for a carefree weekend. Anybody have experience with getting flash passes later in the day?
  24. Good advice, thanks all. Better to buy a day or two before rather than now. Though I found it weird that the Saturday of labor day is the 'cheap' tier for flash pass, though. If you look at different dates there are 3 price tiers: a b and c. C being the cheapest. (70$ for gold) and that weekend is the cheap tier. I guess we'll see, but having a station merge point for toro should be worth the price alone. I would think
  25. Going to the park labor day weekend... Saturday... ( i know labor day Monday typically aren't bad but I'm preparing for the worst on Saturday) just curious about the merge points on Ka, Jaro, Nitro, and toro. How long are the lines from the merge point? Also I know as a general rule wait until you get to the park before getting a flash pass, problem is I won't be at the park until 3 or 4 or so. Do they typically sell out on busy days or should I buy ahead of time? Or since it's the evening ish the crowds won't be as bad? Any advice would be appreciated.
