TV Alert: Bert the Conqueror
DarkStitch626 replied to Emiroo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Bert The Conqueror is now at Carowinds through Saturday doing early morning shoots. Today was Intimidator , tomorrow is Afterburn which I signed up for. Taken earlier today by one of the camera crews people. Edit: Added Andrew(pufferfish) and I were lucky enough to be filmed in Intimidator's station. I am like said going to be on the Afterburn shoot tomorrow, maybe I will get lucky and be one of the people he asks how the ride was and get to talk to him a little more, he was a bit busy today but other wise extremely friendly! -

I believe this is caused by the forces applied on the ride actually. -

Let me make a slight bit of effort into explaining a few things on each of these. 1. Nerve racking yes, but having it not stop decreases the amount of energy and electricity needed to propel the train. It also can help with maintaining the rides working parts. Alot of companies are switching from that "stand still" to a slow launch ideal. 2. The cliff hanger element would work better on larger coasters yes I agree but its more to put less stress on the track. Supportless track typically needs less stress on it so it won't sway so much. It does for a GP stand point add some thrill to the first drop. 3. The mid course would have to be there as a block so they can run multiple trains to be honest so easy to explain that, in this day and age capacity is key. -

I only go with it, I don't promote or endorse it thankfully. I am part of the night crew by chat appeal.I know boundaries and I know its yours. AJ seems to be the one who promotes it the most. To me it just was a nickname for the people who stayed up late honestly.

What!? You must of rode on a wheel seat! I rode it in April also (April 3rd) and it was very smooth and had pretty good airtime! I also rode in the front seat of the second car. Wheel seats are on ALL of Hurlers train my friend. Thunder road does not have them in the "middle of the train" because each car has 3 rows. Hurler only has 2 rows per car thus preventing a "non wheel seat". -

Does someone want to email Duane and find out? I know I know! Lets e-mail DAN! he may know! ! mrt0ad13@aol.com J/K. I have heard honestly that it still goes around 85 or so. Because if 79.5 is true then think Intimidator (carowinds) goes 80 ..that means a ride 60 feet or so shorter goes a tad faster as of the rcdb.com thing. -

Actually , since someone brought this up. The trim on the top of the first hill, someone said it was because of the inversion after it's height? I believe if correct or mistaken (feel free to correct me) That wasn't it added as a "cliff hanger" element? -

Personally from a non-local stand point since I live closer to Carowinds.I neither give an enthusiast nor a general public stand point. Trimmed or not it doesn't bother me. I liked the ride for what it is, and for what it was. Less intense can have its good points in saying that less will black out/gray out and less will complain in that manner. More may complain from say an enthusiast view that "omg its trimmed its going to suck now" Alot of parks don't really look at what the enthusiast wants (Holiday world DID listen to us to make the Voyage though) versus what say the general public want. Safety is what truly matters in my opinion. As long as the ride is safe that is what matters to me. We don't want someone to knock their neck into next Thursday and then sue the park putting further and further larger restrictions on riding things do we? Do we really wanna see the new generation rides with 10 point click seat belts with pad locks that have combinations , 3 lap bars a shoulder pad, an ankle lock , wrist locks to the harnesses , a Nascar sanctioned neck brace? and yes yes I will say it restrictor plates . Do we REALLY wanna see this over ONE person suing the park? Also during my visit the only odd thing I felt on I305 , was it hesitated on the lift a lot. We'd get all the way up and it would slow to a stop for just a minor second then start right back up over the crest. BGWfreak(wes) Called his thrillnetwork friend to ask if he/she had felt it and they said it even happened during the media day. it didn't really take away from the experience, but it did prevent the ultimate "whip" over the top. -

I know that one of the trains I believe Silverback has been having issues disengaging the lift recently. So perhaps they are looking at that? -

As of going with Wes to ride the "almighty" 305, I loved it. The train does have an odd hesitation at the lift top it stops slightly then goes over the crest. There is NO trim at the top. The back row ride I got felt so intense and amazing. I will say the "trim" on the one hill effects perhaps like the first 3/4th the train BAD. Though if sitting in the back you atleast still get air time. I did have the pleasure of meeting RedFoot12 and Homeboy23 rode with me on my first front row/night ride which was kick butt! -
